You can also explore your other talents, and when hunting for jobs don't settle for less and don't stay at home, at least leave the house in the morning and come back in the afternoon or evening or else people will start talking-- that's if you care by the way undecided

thanks for your feedback losprince,

Sorry may I ask what development/ career experience you have in particular... are you working for a studio/ agency/ freelancing.
And what would you recommend a newbie web dev. in nigeria to focus on in order to avoid working for the type of client / company you refer to above.
The type that require the almighty universal developer and rather get a good position or client.

I'm freelancing at the moment, i would recommend that newbie developers focus on building a portfolio they can be proud to show off, get a git-hub account and populate it with projects. When they see these companies looking for the omniscient programmer just ignore them hopefully they will get the message that such programmers don't exit, not in this economy.

in Nigeria most employers want you to posses all skills known and unknown to man, they don't want specialty but an expert in all fields and still expect many years of experience from the developer. Most job posts you will see on nairaland are from un serious individuals who are not yet ready to run a business and most of the offers are low ball undecided

I recently lost some web development jobs because I couldn't provide a portfolio, so I'm offering free web design and development service to about three interested parties. the site could be any kind, an e commerce site, a forum, church web site, school portal, any kind. and I will develop it for free.

the terms and conditions are
1. I will have the right to publish the site on my portfolio.

2. I will be given credit at the footer of the site.

3. the client will be responsible for domain name and web hosting.

interested persons should make their interest known here and we shall proceed from there.

my environments of experience are php mysql HTML bootstrap

bros let me advice you, these repeated threads you keep creating won't gain your software any recognition in fact they are so annoying! if you want to sell this, better go from school to school or employ someone to do that for you. no one will take you serious if you keep spamming forums.

Dmayor7:
aLL niche depends on how you choose to monetize it.

a paticular monitizing channel might not work well in a niche but may be a hot cake in another.

YES,

You can monetize a poetry niche.

Through advert placement.

Through affiliate marketing ---- reviewing and recommending literature books.

Through selling your own books, poems, literary works....etc

Amazon.com is a good place to start affiliate marketing with.

thanks for the insight
