Philo Nkem Ajufo, the acting General Manager of Delta State Tourism Board, has been detained by the EFCC in Abuja over her role in a financial scheme. Ms. Ajufo is reportedly being quizzed for conniving with her boss, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), to embezzle N50 million from the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Mr. Mofe Damijo, a well known Nollywood star, is the commissioner in charge of the ministry. Our EFCC said the commissioner was also being sought by the anti-corruption agency, but he has been elusive.

An EFCC source confirmed Ms. Ajufo’s arrest. “As we talk, the Delta State Tourism GM, one Mrs. Nkem Ajufo, is been held in our headquarters here in Abuja over her involvement in the N50 million fraud. Her boss, Mr. Richard Mofe Damijo, is not left out but as we speak he is still avoiding us,” said the source.
Two sources at the ministry told our reporter that the EFCC last week delivered a letter inviting Ms. Ajufo to appear at their headquarters. She was reportedly asked to bring along relevant documents concerning the N50 million that was meant for the purported 2007 Delta Expo event which never held.
The sources disclosed that Mr. Mofe Damijo went underground on learning about the current development.
One source told our reporter that the commissioner, who is reported to be building himself a massive underground edifice in Lagos, was trying to use political contacts in Delta and Abuja to scuttle the EFCC’s investigation and washed his hands off the scam.
SaharaReporters learnt that Mr. Mofe Damijo denied knowledge of the money during the budget defense exercise.
Several calls and sms texts sent to Mr. Damijo and Ms. Ajufo’s mobile lines were not answered. After a while, the commissioner switched off his mobile phone.
Late last year, Saharareporters had broken the news of the N50 million allegedly embezzled by the commissioner and the acting GM of the state’s tourism board.
Several sources in the commissioner’s office had confided that a former commissioner in the Ministry had applied for the N50 million to organize the “Delta State Expo 2007,” disclosing that the state could not release the funds then due to some financial challenges. However, when the funds were released into the Tourism account in May, 2012, Mr. Mofe Damijo allegedly said that the ministry could no longer carry out the event since it had elapsed by six years and Deltans would have forgotten about the event.
But our reporter obtained “Forms of Advance Warrant” on release of funds from the Ministry of Finance indicating that the N50 million was supposed to be spent on the original event for which it was approved. The warrant order, numbered 00000117, 00000114 and 00000115, was signed by one Ms. P.O. Evuojapha for the Commissioner of Finance.
SaharaReporters learnt that N35 million of the N50 million was supposed to have gone to the tourism board.
A reporter for SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Mofe Damijo issued a check to the tourism board in the name of its acting GM, Ms. Ajufo. She in turn reportedly deposited the sum into her First Bank private account with account number (3006131619) operated under her name, Nkem Philo Ajufo. Our sources said she and Mr. Mofe Damijo subsequently shared the money.

As Nigeria joined other parts of the world to celebrate Valentine’s Day, yesterday, inmates at the Kirikiri Female Prison, Lagos, were not left out, as they were hosted to a banquet of celebration by the Prisons authorities.
Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Comptroller of Prisons in-charge of the Female Prison, Mrs Onwuli Isioma Leticia, explained that the celebration was a clear demonstration of what Valentine meant and also to facilitate the reformation process.
She said: “We actually want to show them love so that they can replicate it here and when they go out of here. Since everyone outside the prison wall is celebrating, we feel they deserve to celebrate also because being in prison is not the end of life. And to achieve reformation, the purpose for which they are here, they must be shown love.”
Clad in red and white and other multi-coloured clothings, the inmates, perhaps for once, forgot about their confinement, as they displayed talents in dancing, drama, recitation and news broadcasting.
In an exclusive interview with Vanguard, the DCP stressed the need for installation of solar power in the prison, with a view to supplementing the Power Holding Company of Nigeria during power outage and also in the entire security of the prison.

KANO – A total of 9 female Health workers have been shot to death at two Community health centres in the ancient city of Kano by unknown gunmen in two separate attacks.

Eyewitness account told Vanguard that the first offensive on the polio workers at Filin Kashu, Ungwa-Uku General area left two dead, while 4 others were critically injured.

The account explained that the gunmen in tricycle arrived the Community health centre by 9.00am, opened fire on the defenseless paramedics and subsequently escaped in the ensuing pandemonium.

In another attack recorded at Hotoro Haye, 7 female workers were shot dead at the Community health centre.

Eyewitness say the assailants also came in a tricycle and sprayed bullets at the female workers on duty.

The Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf while confirming the incident explained that “6 were shot at Ungwa-Uku but two died while 4 survived”.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Kano Police Command, ASP, Magaji Musa Majia confirmed that “9 female health workers were shot dead in the separate attacks”

ASP Magaji also disclosed that the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the Murtala Muhammad Hospital in the city”

According to Magaji “investigations have immediately commenced”

2. Attraction – Hard pill to swallow but it could be that she’s more attractive than you, in which case you can’t blame him. We all want someone on our arm that we can be proud of but one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure right?
3. Confidence – If you like to constantly point out your flaws just so he could dispute them, chances are he was thinking ‘On to the next one!’ Guys like confident girls who are confident in their own skin. If you were guilty of this, you just gave him the green light to pick a more confident chick, sucks huh?
4. She trusts him- If you were the sort of girl who checked their man’s phone while he went to the toilet or did some military style interrogation when he went out with his boys? That sort of behavior screams crazy/needy/out of control/ neurotic freak. If you trusted him, you might have kept him.

Olukayode Dada, counsel to Ezike Olisaeloka, one of the four persons linked with the death of Cynthia Osokogu, the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Frank Osokogu (retd), on Tuesday told an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, that his client and the other accused persons had been unduly “tried and convicted” on the pages of newspaper.

Olisaeloka, his brother, Nonso, Orji Osita, a pharmacist, and Okwumo Nwabufo were brought before the court by the office of the Attorney-General of Lagos State to press formal criminal charges against them.


But, Dada, while addressing the court said the “foreknowledge of the presiding judge (Justice Olabisi Akinlade) about this case will not “guarantee” Olisaeloka’s fair trial.

He made an application seeking an order of the court to stay the proceeding on the charge against the second defendant pending the time he will have a “fair hearing.” He also urged the court to use its discretion and grant him bail.

He said, “There has been a media-generated notoriety of the case, especially on the pages of newspapers and on social media, where they have been tried and even convicted.

“In view of this, fair trial cannot be guaranteed the second defendant at this time.

“The judge even has a foreknowledge of the case, thus the court cannot guarantee independence and impartiality.”

But, the Attorney General of Lagos State, Mr Ade Ipaye, who appeared alongside the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Olabisi Ogungbesan, and seven other state counsel for the prosecution, opposed Dada’s application.

Ipaye, who is also the state Commissioner for Justice, urged the court to dismiss the application, adding that it was a statement of “mere opinion” and not facts.

He said, “I wish to observe, first, that what the applicant seeks is an order of the court to suspend indefinitely the arraignment and trial of the second defendant (Olisaeloka). I strongly oppose the application because the suspect cannot be tried at his own leisure.

“Fair hearing and reasonable time referred to in the constitution is not by the public or by the press, but by the court or tribunal established by law.

“The constitution seeks specifically for the independence and impartiality of the courts not that of the general public in respect of a criminal trial.”

Ipaye also urged the court to exercise its judicial discretion to refuse the applicant’s request for bail and proceed with the arraignment and speedy trail of all the defendants.
Justice Akinlade dismissed Dada’s application on the grounds of incompetence.

The judge also dismissed the application for Olisaeleka’s bail, adding that he did not show any “special evidence” that would require him to be freed on bail.

Akinlade said, “Emphasis (in the constitution) is fair hearing within a reasonable time. The matter must not be allowed to drag aimlessly to jeopardise the defendant’s fundamental rights. This application is incompetent and is hereby dismissed.”

She subsequently fixed the arraignment of the suspects, and possible trial, for February 8.

105 year old woman, Edythe Kirchmaier, who is the oldest person on Facebook and arguable the oldest driver in America and even the world was on the Ellen Degenerees show.
In a world where the average mortality age is about 67, Edythe Kirchmaier who still talks well- with a great sense of humour, walks and even drives is nothing short of amazing.

The Santa Barbara resident who has been on the roads for 86 years renewed her license the day after her 105th birthday this year, to become California's oldest driver.
Edythe has also never had an accident or gotten a driving ticket. Fascinated by the great grandmother of 17, American comedienne Ellen Degeneres brought her on her show.
Speaking to Ellen last Tuesday, she said: "I'm the oldest living driver in California and maybe the United States. I do have a secret - but if I tell it it won't be a secret...and laughed".
When I learned to drive, there were no rules of the road,' she told Fox News. 'The roads were narrow and there were no signs saying 55 mph or anything like that.'
I think I’m a pretty good driver. I feel safe about getting my driver's license renewed because I’ve never had an accident.'
'I just couldn't imagine myself without a car. It just didn't feel very good.'
Mrs Kirchmaier moved to California with her husband Joseph. They were married for 70 years until he died in 2008 at the age of 98.
She still volunteers for Direct Relief International, a charity she has given her time to for 40 years.
Mrs Kirchmaier now drives a 1997 Dodge Caravan and her license is valid until 2017.
Coming close to revealing the reason for her healthy age she said she had always been positive. "I've always been very happy,' she told Ellen.
'I had a happy marriage and have a wonderful family. I stay positive. If something happens and I can't do anything about it - I don't worry about it.'

A French job-seeker has "sold" himself with an online résumé made to look like an Amazon page, proving that some creativity and attention to personal branding can go a long way.

Philippe Dubost began his trawl for a new job as a web product manager in late December.

Depressed by the thought of sending a regular résumé into the ether as part of the usual job application process, he built his to look like an Amazon page, complete with product dimensions, five-star ratings, world-wide shipping and even a gift-wrap option.

"Amazon's pages just naturally fit the form of a résumé," he said. "I just thought that if a company thinks that this is fun, then that's a company I would like to work for."

That was the beginning of last week. From there its journey across blogs and social media has propelled it from around 500 hits a day to over 200,000, and the page has gained over 27,000 Facebook "likes".

But more than just being a fleeting Internet sensation, Dubost's Amazon résumé has also done what it was designed for.

From the 800 or so messages he has received over 100 have been work-related with job offers coming from across Asia and Europe.

"Quite a few are great and are really fit what I'm looking for," he said.

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery and Dubost admits that Amazon is one of the companies he greatly admires and would like to work for. However he remains tight-lipped about how the company has responded, or even if it have contacted him at all.

As well as being a smart piece of design, the creative résumé also shows Dubost's personality, something he believes has helped it reach its target audience.

The fact that people complained about him means I didn't do wrong. Infact, when I lost the job, a white man who is also part of the management asked me to join him at his site (Badagry), but distance couldn't let me.
Staying at home for long has thought me to be humble.

Those that start our too fast almost always end up burnt out earlier, and those that move late slowly and steadily reach the highest crescendo later in life.

I assume you have no responsibility and is still being catered for by parents, so you should still be able to focus on improving your self, skill wise, educationally and socially. You need to move around and mix more with your friends, family and old contacts. The greatest mistake is to shy away from friends due to your unemployed status. Go to your friends and colleagues offices, put your ear to the ground. Tell them to help you in case of openings. Improve your social life, go to big churches, join groups where there are upward mobile members. Do anything but DO NOT SIT AT HOME FEELING SORRY FOR YOUR SELF. I am sure you will see opportunities.
