Celebrities / Michelle Obama Mistakenly Describes Herself As A 'busy Single Mum' by Louis007: 10:34pm On Apr 05, 2013
US First Lady, Michelle Obama raised eyebrows with her brief slip of the tongue yesterday Thursday April 4th when she described herself as a 'busy single mum' during an interview with a Vermont CBS station, the Flotus.

She caught her mistake immediately and explained: "You know, when you've got the husband who's president, it can feel a little single, but he's there,". She then described herself as 'busy working mom."

The First Lady was answering questions about the difficulties that working parents can have when they try to balance their office lives with their home lives. "Before coming to the White House, I was in that position," she confessed. "Working, driving kids to practice, not having enough time to shop or cook, not having the energy."

Politics / Gambian President To Homosexuals – “if We Catch You, You’ll Regret You Were Born by Louis007: 9:21am On Apr 05, 2013
Gambian president, Yahya Jammeh, has warned that any gay or lesbians found in the country will “regret” being born.

During a speech on March 28th at the opening of the country’s parliament, President Jammeh said:

“Homosexuality is anti-humanity. I have never seen homosexual chicken, or turkey. If you are convicted of homosexuality in this country, there will be no mercy for offenders.

Homosexuality is anti-god, anti-human, and anti-civilization. Homosexuals are not welcome in the Gambia.

If we catch you, you will regret why you are born. I have buffalos from South Africa and Brazil and they never date each other.

We are ready to eat grass but we will not compromise on this. Allowing homosexuality means allowing satanic rights. We will not allow gays here.”

"God has finally silenced our enemies. Those who thought my daughter would not marry Odi have failed, thanks to the almighty God that I serve. They tried but could not prevail over what God has destined. We are going to welcome them in a big way. As you can see, we have started preparation to receive them. Things are been bought. The Aso Ebi will be bought soon and when they come, they will choose the pattern they prefer. Purity is my 14th grandchild. kulyie: Yeye dey smell, orisirisi.see pot calling kettle black.if he decided to leave, fine, but does it seem mature to him badmouthing him.birds of the same feathers.the other day i was passing by babcock and i decided to stop by to see a lecturer friend and on my way to his office he passed by me with sagging trousers, chain daggling by the side of his trousers with his boxers out and a brown shirt and a face cap facing the back of his head.an earpiece was inserted in his ears and was singing at the top of his voice,he didnt even realise he was shouting and even jesticulating.in my mind i was like childishness of the highest order.anyway when i got to my friends office,i asked him if davido is a student in babcock and he said yes that he is studying music,he said, why did i ask and i explained the scene i saw while walking towards his office,he just chuckled and said he's just a teenager so you shouldn't expect anything less,i was like hmnn,we closed that chapter etc,so it beats me now when a smalee is saying another person is immature.to start with does his composure, manner of dressing, personae, the numerous pictures of him and some little loose girls flying all over the internet etc depicts maturity.smh

Celebrities / SHOCKER: I Left Asa Asika Because He Wasn’t Matured - Davido by Louis007: 12:37pm On Mar 29, 2013
The real reason for the split between Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, and his former manager, Asa Asika, has been revealed.

Speaking recently on a Channels TV programme, Davido disclosed that the main reason he parted ways with the young Asika was because he (Asika) was immature.

The superstar singer also explained that he left Asika’s management because they had “different views and issues,” adding that “we just had to go apart.”

Continuing, the son of Deji Adeleke, a billionaire businessman from Osun State, said, “we started this whole thing together and moved it to a certain level.”

“I felt I needed a more matured management,” Davido further explained. He (Davido), however, maintained that, “he (Asika) is still my friend anytime.”

Celebrities / Lynxxx Has Never Been Turned Down By A Lady... by Louis007: 7:47am On Mar 29, 2013
With a body like that, how can any woman under 30? turn him down? :-). Below is what he told City People in a recent interview:
Have you ever been turned down by a lady?
Lynxxx: No
Even in your KC days? (He attended Kings College)
I haven't ever been turned down because I always make sure there is green light first. And my game was too much then. Now I don't even have time to be chasing women. I am just focused on my music.
On marriage
I am trying to settle down as I am getting older. It is only right you settle down because when you are exposed to this kind of attention, it's very easy to go off track. And you don't know if the women want you for who you are or for your money or for your fame or to destroy you. You are a target once you are famous. So you have to be very smart and don't get exposed in a negative way.

Celebrities / Chris Brown Talks About His ‘beating Up’ Rihanna And Violent Personality by Louis007: 7:12pm On Mar 27, 2013
The silent Chris Brown has come out to talk about the ugly incident that occurred between he and Rihanna as well as other issues:

According to GWL:

Tuesday morning, the R&B singer phoned into Ryan Seacrest to talk about his current projects and surprisingly admits to his character flaws, and being arrogant and hotheaded when the infamous fight went down.

Here’s what he told Seacrest:

“People are entitled to their opinions. I can’t go around blaming. It’s all about my responsibility and me growing up as a man.

“So I think now that I’m becoming older, and trying to mature in this life under the public eye at all times, I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual.”

“I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident and that time was probably the worst part of my life and being that she has and she’s a wonderful person I’m eternally grateful and thankful,” Brown said.

He also chatted about his recent altercation with a valet attendant outside a charity event over a $10 fee in Los Angeles, saying:

“I actually gave the valet $100 before heading into the bowling alley. So when I came out, the argument started,…and I told myself I have to just shut up and be like, ‘Security go get the keys!’ I’ll be by the car.”

He then talked about being changed man:

“Being at that young age, I can tell you I was arrogant and definitely hotheaded. Everybody has a temper, but for me it was not knowing how to control it when I thought I had the world in my hands.”

Chris also spoke about his current relationship with Rihanna:

“It’s still like we’re kids. I try not to be too grown and be like, ‘Lets have candlelight dinner every night.’ I try to make sure everything is fun. It has to be fun and it has to be genuine.”

Celebrities / ''my Divorce Is Not The End Of Life'' -actress, Kate Henshaw by Louis007: 7:00pm On Mar 26, 2013
Nollywood Actress, Kate Henshaw who has being in the industry for a long time and still waxing strong in a recent interview speaks on issues in the movie industry, her personal life, among other issues.

Excerpts

What inspired your new dreadlocks hairstyle?

It’s not dreadlocks, I keep explaining to people. These are natural twists. On my last birthday, I decided to make a lot of changes in my life. I decided to reclaim my hair because I really had lovely hair growing up, and the first time relaxer ever touched my hair was when I was in the university.

After years of using too much chemical on it, I decided to just make a complete turnaround. Now, my hair is healthy, it’s long, it’s lovely. And I would never let relaxer touch it again. I don’t fix artificial nails again. I’m back to natural nails. I just put on some long-lasting polish. I fixed my nails for over 10 years but I’m tired of it now. I want to be healthy in my old age.

Your divorce came as a shock to a lot of people. Why did you take that decision?

Shock? Have you not heard that Seal and Heidi (Klum) have divorced? Haven’t you seen people who have been married for 20 to 25 years and divorced? I’m not perfect; no one is. We all have our low moments. It doesn’t mean I’m a failure.

Everybody goes through bad patches in life. Life must go on, whether we like it or not. It’s always better to part under good circumstances than for someone to be in jail, or die, or to be hurling insults at each other. There is no need for that.

It seems you don’t regret your divorce, because you always have this cheerful look?

It’s God. Looking back at my life, where I came from, I never even thought I would be an actress. I never even thought I would have an opportunity to meet people, to be a role mode. So, it’s not for me to feel self-pity.

I’m grateful to God every single day. I choose to be happy. I am a happy person. Someone encouraged me with these words yesterday: ‘Every problem you have will resolve and dissolve’.

So, my divorce is not the end of life and my God has given me cheer and joy. That explains why I am always happy and cheerful. No regrets.

Will you remarry?

I am not sure about remarrying but I will love again. I’m a lover, not a fighter. I’m only going to be very choosy. I don’t know about marriage, but, maybe, love.

You’ve kept your daughter away from the limelight. Is this deliberate?

Yes. You want them to kidnap my daughter? When they see her picture, then they will know who she is. I remember somebody sent a card to me through her school and I was so surprised.

They just dropped it on her desk and I was wondering how the person knew my daughter attends that school. Should she decide to step into the limelight later on, that would be her call, not mine. I’ve managed to keep her away and I’m sure I’ve done a good job. Now she is not even in the country and it’s better she schools there.

"I Will Be Proud If My Child Is Gay’ – Kemi Omololu - Olunloyo. Read why you #Nigerians need to STOP discriminating against gays. Stay away from #Canada and #America. I support gay anytime.

There is NO such penalties for #GAYS in #Nigeria. I am taking up the #Nigerian Govt and all your f*cking lawmakers. They can't even pass a gay marriage ban in 2 years of mouthing but yet they can give your billions to Canada to conduct an HIV test in Benue which is full of infected gays sleeping with women at the same time. You guys are not my FANS, U are just a bunch of fake POS! U want me to agree with all your "nice" views so u can SUCK up to me? Wonder why I don't talk to any of you or LIKE comments. Stop doing follow follow, Canada is the most gay friendly country on EARTH and nobody has HIV. They take our money knowing that we hate gays. As a CVS HIV Procare Pharmacist, we should be educating gays about safe sèx rather than stigmatizing them. Use your head NIGERIANS. Ignorance does not excuse stupidity.

Celebrities / BankyW Is Tired Of Hearing Of His Big Head by Louis007: 1:52pm On Mar 25, 2013
Banky W had some free time on Sunday, away from home and work, and decided to spend it with fans on Twitter.

He got cozy with fans answering all questions and replying to all mentions as much as he could; mostly lauding him for a great work done on the still-selling R&BW album.

What caught my eye however was the part where a fan asked Banky W; “Do you ever get tired of hearing how handsome you are?”

I’m sure ‘@TheNubianQween was disappointed at Banky’s response. She’d be expecting something sweet, or just a ‘thank you’, but Banky W replied with; “I get tired of hearing how big my head is.”

I’ve heard folks say in the past that Banky wears a cap always because he’s got a big head. Come on guys!

Politics / BURSTED!!! Biochemistry Graduate Impersonates Doctor, Opens Pharmacy by Louis007: 9:22am On Mar 25, 2013
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a jobless graduate of Biochemistry for allegedly operating a pharmacy as well as administering medical treatment to patients.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect, Kenneth Ogbonna, was arrested by policemen attached to the Area E Command, FESTAC.

According to police authorities, the suspect, who goes by the pseudonym, doctor, is a third-class graduate of Uthman Danfodio University, Sokoto.

The police also alleged that the suspect ownedan illegal pharmacy at 4C, Marwa Road, Ijegun Market, Satellite Town.

It was learnt that trouble started for the suspect after lodging a sick friend in a hotel and was administering drugs and injections to him.

A senior police officer, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said, “The suspect was treating one Nelson Ibenezim. He had kept him (Ibenezim) in the hotel for about four days before he was finally arrested.

“At the hotel, we noticed that the victim was placed on drip. We also saw marks of needle on him which means the suspect had been injecting him with drugs.

“We then went to the pharmacy he operates where we discovered medical equipment even though the suspect is not a doctor. We learnt he treats people on a daily basis at that same hotel which he has been using for about three years now.

We are also interrogating some employees at the hotel because we have a strong feeling that they conspired with the suspect to carry out the illegitimate business.

But the suspect said he graduated with a third class from the university which had made it difficult for him to get a decent job.

He said, “I intended studying medicine at the university but when I did not get good grades, I was transferred to Biochemistry Department where I finished with a third class. I graduated in 2000 and when I could not make ends meet, I decided to open a pharmacy.

“The person that was found in the hotel is my friend. He had malaria and I was treating him. I know the appropriate drugs to use and there is no way I would have killed him.”

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the story but added that she had no details.

Celebrities / ''I Don't Really Care About Money'' — Darey Art Alade by Louis007: 5:36am On Mar 20, 2013
Soul R&B singer, Darey Art Alade, is out with a new concert series, Darey Presents, putting to rest rumours that he has dropped off the Nigerian entertainment radar. The son of the late Highlife legend, Modupe Art Alade, gives an insight into his early life as a singer, among other issues, in this interview.

What have you been up to?

The show Darey Presents Love Like a Movie is what is happening with me right now. I have got new music that has been prepared already and this has taken the front burner. I might release one or two songs in the show; I don’t know yet. I have shot videos for not just myself but for my artistes, Mo’Eazy and Zaina. After the concert, we will continue our momentum, release new music, new videos and then move on to the next thing. We have big projects that are coming up as well but we don’t want to give you too much information.

Most of the time, movies are known to be fictional. Why did you use it as an analogy for your show?

The same issue why the US is having issues with gun violence and there is high percentage of death and they try to blame Hollywood. We forget that movies are a mirror of the society. Have a look at our Nollywood. Everything is fetish. Movies are based on stories we hear around. I think at the end of the day, love is like a movie. It is so dramatic, it is full of ups and downs.

We have seen shows come and go. What measures have you put in place to ensure the sustainability of this one?

The game plan is to change the face of concerts, to change the face of production. With everything that I do with Soul Music, with our videos and music, we take our time. We make sure it comes out classy and different. If anybody believes in us and trusts what we have done in the past, then it is a no brainer. Once we say we are going to do something, we do it and you are more than welcome.

Both artistes on your label are returnees. Is it that you have a soft spot for returning artistes?

They are both Nigerians. Anybody who knows me knows that I support a lot of homegrown artistes. I don't hesitate to give anybody my support. Take Phil as an example. We did a song together some years ago. We flew to South Africa to shoot a video for it. That answers the question. Today, Clarence Peters is one of the top music video directors. His first music video in Nigeria was my music video. Talking about giving local talents breaks, we have done that and the fact that they are returnees doesn’t take away the fact that they are Nigerians.

So far, how have they lived up to their billing?

The advantage they have is the exposure. That always makes a difference as far as entertainment is concerned. I like to work with professionals because at the end of the day, they bring their experience to bear. By the time we combine that with my experience here, having done a lot at home, the combination is awesome. In terms of local support, we are about to go live with our studios in Abuja where sessions are open. Anybody, especially people in or around Abuja, can always come with their projects to record.

Why did you opt for Abuja, considering the fact that Lagos is perceived as the entertainment hub of Nigeria?

Hollywood is perceived as the entertainment capital of the United States, but people make music all over the States. I think we need to also stop the stereotype or the stigmatisation. Abuja is 45 minutes away by flight, so what are we talking about? Nigeria is the size of Texas. Distance does not equal quality.

You don't need to be in Lagos to make good music. You don't need to be in Lagos to shoot a great music video. The bottom line for me is that I have reached a level in my career that I can make music from anywhere in the world. I have the machinery, I have publicists, producers and people at my disposal everywhere in the world. I can be in Lagos when I need to be. That is how I keep my uniqueness. I am not in Lagos to compete. Lagos is congested. A million artistes come out everyday even though I always feel like a new artiste. I am warning new artistes to be very wary of someone like me because I am still hungry.

Your style of music is not seemingly popular. How well would you say it has paid you?

My style of music is Soul R&B and it has paid me very well. People say I am in a class by myself. Sometimes it gets lonely because I am not trying to compete with anybody. I am not saying I am better than anybody. I just have my own thing I am doing. I have created my niche and I have my market. My market may be one percent but check it out: one percent of 150 million is much. So if I have them every year or every six months, I am content. I am not trying to sell a hundred million records. I don't want everybody to sing to my music.

Did growing up as the son of Art Alade have an influence in your career choice?

I have always been surrounded by music, not just from my dad or my mum but from my entire family. My great-grandmother, my late uncle, Captain Wole Bucknor, was the director of music at the Nigerian Navy. My other uncle, Richard Bucknor still is the Choir Master at the Cathedral Church of Christ where I used to be a chorister. My great grandmother was one of the first pianists in West Africa and was a teacher of piano and music, so it has just been there.

There were others I never met. Coming from that, it doesn't mean that I knew how to do it. I had to learn a lot of things growing up. From singing with bands, travelling around, joining choir, I had to learn how to sing.

How many instruments do you play?

My first instrument was the drum. I play the piano, the percussion and the conga. I also sing because the voice is an instrument.

Is there a particular reason why you don't remix much of your father's songs?

First of all, my father was more of a live performer. He never recorded much. He was famous for being a spontaneous live performer on TV so a couple of recordings he had, I have covered one already many years ago when I was starting out. As far as his music is concerned, there is not too much I can do with it. But again I am also a live performer. From shows that I have got from bank AGMs, weddings and things like that, I do a lot of old highlife music on that platform. Not everything has to be recorded.

At what point does your life as an R&B artiste meet that as a Highlife performer?

That is a futuristic question and I like your line of thinking. To answer that, you just have to look out for my new project. It actually encompasses what you are talking about.

A lot of men don't like working with their wives but you do that. What is the secret?

We have a great chemistry. We work together. I make all the money and she spends it. I am not complaining, she is not complaining either. Sometimes I don't even know how much I make. I don't really care about money. It is people who worship money that care about it.

What then are your cares?

I care about making people happy. I care about changing people's lives.

If not for the money, why are you in the arts?

There is no limit to creativity. The day you stop being creative is the day you die. As long as I am alive, there will always be ideas and Love Like a Movie is one of those projects.

What inspires your dress sense?

I dress to be comfortable. I wear what suits my body type, keeps it edgy, dress appropriately. You can't wear bathroom slippers to a meeting. It is relative, it depends on what you believe in style, but never let your style be as a result of somebody else's. You can borrow and be inspired, but don't take everything hook line and sinker.

Celebrities / Xist Music USA Signs Nigerian Female Rapper BOUQUI by Louis007: 8:07am On Mar 18, 2013
One of America’s leading recording labels and home to many US top gospel artistes, Xist Music USA, has signed Nigerian rap queen, Bukola Folayan, popularly known as BOUQUI. This came a few months after she recorded ‘Celebrate’ with Grammy nominee Da T.R.U.T.H who is also signed to Xist.

Xist Music can boast of gospel acts like DA T.R.U.T.H, The Ambassador, Jahaziel, Sean Simmonds, Yaves and N.F. BOUQUI is now part of the great team as the first female and first African on the label.

Sources say it’s a bumper package for BOUQUI as the deal includes international recordings with all Xist Music artistes and other relevant artistes in the world, and an intensive distribution of BOUQUI’s album and materials in the USA and the UK.
