Celebrities / Snoop's Pímp Past: I Sold Hóokers To Entertainers And Athletes by Louis007: 4:56pm On May 10, 2013
The rapper-turned-reggae singer gathered a group of 10 willing women, housing them in a bus that followed his own coach throughout his Playboy Tour in 2003.

The chart star – best known by his former name Snoop Dogg – admits he put his marriage to school sweetheart Shante Taylor at risk by pimping out his female entourage.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: “I put an organisation together. I had a bus follow me with 10 bítches on it.

“I could fire a bítch, f*** a bítch, get a new ho. It was my programme. City to city, titty to titty, hotel room to hotel room, athlete to athlete, entertainer to entertainer.

“If I'm in a city where the Denver Broncos or the (Denver) Nuggets play, I get a couple of their players to come hang out, pick and choose, and whichever one you like comes with a number.

“A lot of athletes bought p**** from me.”

Rather than keep the money earned for himself, he gave every cent to his clothes-shedding employees. He said: “I'd act like I'd take the money from the bítch, but I'd let her have it.

“It was never about the money; it was about the fascination of being a love-vendor. As a kid, I dreamed of being a love-vendor; I dreamed of having cars and clothes and bítches to match.” Snoop heaped praise on his wife Shante, who “had to take a backseat” during his wild days of pimping.

He admits: “I love her to this day because she could shóok out on a n****, but she stayed in my corner.

“So when I decided to let it go, she was still there.”

Celebrities / Family Source Reveal Paul Okoye Is The Father Of "London Baby" by Louis007: 8:27pm On May 09, 2013
The paternity imbroglio between Nigerian music star and entertainer, Paul Okoye and the beauty pageant contestant and model, Elshamah Igbanoi, has taken another dimension.

A close relative of Mr. Okoye’s has revealed that the baby born by Ms. Elshamah Igbanoi, a former Miss Plateau State, is in fact the musician-entertainer’s first child. A few weeks ago, P-Square had thrown a party in Atlanta, Georgia to welcome another baby born by a different lover of his.

However, Mr. Paul Okoye has kept mum, even though some blogs reported that his public relations claimed that the paternity report was a “hoax” and even an “April Fools’ joke.”

A source who regaled of the goings in the household said the music artist was aware of Ms. Igbanoi’s pregnancy for him about the same time another lady, Anita, became pregnant for him. The source disclosed that the baby born in London is in fact Mr. Okoye’s first son, since he was born on April 7, 2013, three days before Anita delivered another baby in Atlanta on April 10, 2013.

However, while Paul was in Atlanta to announce the birth of Anita’s son, he abandoned Ms. Igbanoi to her fate in the UK. In the earlier report, the beauty pageant contestant’s hospital bills of more than 5000 pounds sterling were yet to be paid. We also reported that Ms. Igbanoi had received several demands for payment from Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital on Du Cane Road, London W12 0HS where her baby was born.

An online news service shortly after the news of the London baby was out, displayed some pictures of Elshama carrying the pregnancy of Paul, this indicated that the model was at the burial of Paul Okopye’s mother on August 2, 2012 while she was already pregnant for him.

“We know her to be a responsible lady who trusted Paul,” said the source. He added: “She had been with him since she was 17 years old.” Ms. Igbanoi is now 19 years old and third year law student at the University of Jos. Meanwhile, the nursing mother and her new baby, Mitchel Paul Okoye are now in an apartment awaiting the arrival of Paul, the father of the baby.

Celebrities / Obama Visits Nigeria May 28 by Louis007: 8:11pm On May 09, 2013
• Security, economy and bilateral relations top agenda

At last the President of the United States, Barack Obama, would visit Nigeria on 28 May, 2013, as part of a three-nation tour of Africa, ending speculation of the Obama scorn with the flawed elections in 2007 that brought Umaru Yar’Adua to the Presidency.

Seen as long overdue but coming at a time when security is the number one item on the country’s agenda, the 44th President of the United States is expected to parley with President Jonathan on how to tackle the niggling problems of insecurity, the economy and trade relations between both nations. President Obama would be interested in hearing President’s Jonathan’s plan to control the Boko Haram insurgents who he plans to offered amnesty, even as the sect continues to slay hundreds in their quest to end western education in the country apart from kidnapping foreigners for ransom.

The growing bases of Al Quaeda, a long term enemy of America and its allies, along the Lake Chad region resulting from their recent dislodgement from Mali may find space on their agenda.

Both men are likely to contemplate the resurgence of Niger Delta militancy, which had simmered with the granting of amnesty by former President Yar’Adua. On the political side, they may weigh the propriety of a Jonathan candidacy in 2015 and the implications for democracy not only for Nigeria, but also for the African continent as well as the implication of good governance as exemplified by Nigeria for the stability of the sub-region. It is speculated that both presidents would broach issues on economic co-operation not least the upbeat forecasts of the emergence of Nigeria as an economic force, what with the country’s latitude for growth.

America would be interested in a partnership that would engender a favourable outcome for both countries whose bilateral trade hit $5 trillion in the first quarter of 2012.

It would be an opportunity for President Jonathan to engage Obama on the US exploitation of Shale gas projected to cut a quarter US imports of Nigeria’s oil by the end of the year. They could discuss how Nigeria can benefit from alternative energy programme of the United States. It would give President Jonathan a chance to see how the AGOA programme can be improved to favour Nigeria’s businesses, especially the SMEs.

Obama’s planned session with businessmen while in the country assures that there is yet scope for improving business and trade relations between both countries. Obama’s visit is believed to be five years late given that he was billed to have visited the country in his first term in office, especially when he visited other African countries, including Ghana, which is only 30 minutes away from Nigeria by flight.

Of that snob, Nobel Literature Prize winner, Professor Wole Soyinka, said, “If Obama decides to grace Nigeria with his presence, I will stone him. The message he is sending by going to Ghana is so obvious, is so brilliant that he must not render it flawed by coming to Nigeria any time soon.”

Politics / Chime Makes First Public Appearance After Death Rumour by Louis007: 9:14am On May 09, 2013
The inauguration of administrators for the 57 development centres at the Okpara Square Enugu, Enugu State yesterday was Governor Sullivan Chime’s first public appearance since he travelled abroad for medical treatment in September last year.

The governor, who returned in February had by his showing at the event also put to bed recent death rumour orchestrated in the Iinternet. Inaugurating the administrators, Chime said it was part of the efforts of the state government to bring democracy and governance to the doorsteps of the masses.

The governor also presented brand new cars to the administrators, explaining that the gesture was intended to enhance the performance of the beneficiaries in their different locations. He noted that the administrators were to assist the chairmen of the 17 local governments in the state in ensuring that development reached the grassroots rapidly and effectively. The governor noted that the appointment of the administrators was a product of the consultation with the people of their respective development centres, adding that they owed their appointments to the people whom they must now serve with diligence and commitment.

Chime also stressed that the administrators were not to operate as sole heads, saying they were merely leaders of committees whose other members would soon be announced. “We are to inaugurate men and women who will be directly in touch with the people. I must emphasize that their appointments were a product of consultation with the people.

“So even though you were not elected, you are still as popular as the other elected officials and you owe your appointments to the people. You must therefore serve diligently and with commitment.”

Celebrities / Help! It’s Outrageously Expensive Now To Shoot Music Videos – MI by Louis007: 11:04am On May 07, 2013
Multiple award winning rap artist and producer Jude MI Abaga while speaking as a panelist at the recently held Nigeria Entertainment Conference in Lagos decried the increasingly heavy costs to shooting standard music videos in the industry.

MI said in unequivocal terms that it is now “outrageously expensive” to shoot music videos adding that it gets even more difficult as sponsors are not forthcoming. He said this in turn makes it difficult to put out good music.According to MI “I have a record label called Loppy records and I must say it’s not been easy. Please if there is a sponsor here who can help me, please I need help”

True to MI’s words, budgets for video shoots now run into millions of naira, with props, models and costumes slicing thick into the cut.Videos shot outside the country, especially in South Africa and London take an even bigger toll on the artist.

Satelite Music channels who once feasted on Naija music videos have begun rejecting videos shot on a low budget which they now term as ‘crap’.

Celebrities / Actresses Lie About Huge Payment For Shaving Hair - Charles Novia by Louis007: 1:15am On May 07, 2013
Nollywood filmmaker and critic, Charles Novia, has reacted to the recent buzz in most social media and blogs about actresses being paid huge sum to shave their hair.

In recent times, actresses have found joy in shaving their hair and making a big deal out of it. More disturbing is the huge quotes these actresses make just agreeing to alter their looks.

Reacting to the trend, Charles Novia took to his twitter page to share his mind on the issue.

According to him, "Seems to shave hair, blog it and lie about being paid huge sums is the new fad among some Nollywood actresses?

"And the shaved hair might just be the only bit good about the movies too or why fuss so much about the hair?"

Chika Ike, who reportedly got N5million for shaving her hair, and Ebube Nwagbo are the latest actresses that have made a fuss out of the hair shaving brouhaha.

Terry made the clarification while speaking with WG on the matter. According to Terry G, “although there was indeed a birthday party at my house, nothing like that ever happened.”

Terry G According to him, AY.Com was not at his party. He stressed the story was the handiwork of his detractors and jobless bloggers.

“AY didn’t come to my birthday party and he doesn’t even know where I live. Please disregard the story because it’s the work of my enemies and bloggers who want to feast on innocent people like me.”

Earlier in the week, the internet was awash with gist that AY.Com who went to celebrate with Terry G on his birthday, landed in hot water when Terry G suddenly pounced on him.

Chris Brown’s father has the same feelings as most of America does when it comes to his son dating Rihanna… he thinks they should have never got back together.

In an interview with the NY Daily News, Clinton Brown said that even though he understands his son’s attraction to RiRi, they are better off on their own. He told the paper:

“I personally really didn’t want him and Rihanna back together.”

Clinton Brown, who split from Breezy’s mom when he was 6, thinks the on-again/off-again couple does not have the proper balance to maintain a good relationship, explaining:

“You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical.”

Clearly neither Chris nor Rihanna would be described as “grounded” or “logical.”

Celebrities / Actress Doris Speaks On Snatched Husband: ' I’m Married To Jesus, Satan Leave Me by Louis007: 9:58am On May 02, 2013
Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon who got dumped by her loving husband, Daniel Ademinokan is finally speaking up.

In a recent interview, the Edo-born actress said she is capable of taking good care of herself.

Doris Simeon further said her current marital problem is not bothering her as she has handed over everything to God.

When queried if she will consider her husband back if he comes begging, the actress jokingly said; I’m Married To Jesus, satan Leave Me Alone.

Interview excerpts below

Every young girl will always remember her first boyfriend, do you remember yours?

I remember that I did ‘shakara’ a lot when I was growing up. ‘Toasting’ then was just writing letters. But when I was growing up, the guys I liked never asked me out. The ones I didn’t like would always flock around me. I don’t think I remember having a first boyfriend.

It was actually when I started acting that I started having boyfriends. But afterwards, those ones I liked started coming and I told them it was too late. There was this guy, in his mind, I was his girlfriend.

He came to Lagos for his youth service. He used to take me out to eateries. So I would say he was my first boyfriend but we didn’t date. We didn’t even kiss.

Why?

He said he was very patient and he would wait for me till I was ready.

So who eventually became your first ever boyfriend in the real sense?

He is in the UK. We dated for two years. I was grown up then and I realised that I couldn’t stand distant relationship. He liked surprising me. He would come around and wouldn’t tell me he was coming. He is still based in the UK.

But you should feel bad that your marriage didn’t work out few years after you got into it?

There is always time to be happy and time to be sad. There is time to reflect and think and learn from your life. You make mistakes to learn. You don’t make mistake and go back to it or dwell in it.

But will you get married again?

Hmmm. I don’t know what to say. I am not taking life so hard. You don’t say some things when you are happy because you might regret it. I want to go the way life goes.

But are you in a relationship again?

Yes. I am in a relationship with God and my son. Is God not male? My son is also a man. He is my boyfriend now.

Would you say it was your fault that your marriage broke up?

I just thank God. I thank Him for everything.

How do you cope with the scandal your marriage generated?

You have to accept life the way it is. At least I am alive and people talk about me. Some people are alive and they are not known. Even if I die today, people will talk about me.

What is your greatest desire?

I won’t say I want to be like God, but I want to touch lives. I want to make an impact so that people will never forget me.

What if your husband comes back to you and begs you for forgiveness?

I leave it to God. (sings) I am married to Jesus, Satan leave me alone…

But you look so happy

I am so happy. Do you know that one of my colleagues died recently? I am older than Bisi Komolafe and she is dead now. I can provide for myself. Why should I be sad? That is why I am not taking life so hard. You don’t know when you can slump and die.

Celebrities / Kenny Ogungbe And Tony Okoroji Fight In Public by Louis007: 9:10am On Apr 30, 2013
The Nigerian Entertainment Conference held over the weekend at the Grand ball room of the Eko Hotel and suites, Victoria Island, Lagos was nearly marred by violent exchange of words between Kennis Music Boss Mr. Kenny Ogungbe and Chairman of Copyright Society of Nigeria COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji.Chief Tony Okoroji had confronted Kenny Ogungbe in the presence of journalists for daring to say in public that COSON owed him (Kenny Ogungbe) money.

“How could he say such a thing? And in public?” Chief Okorogie fumed.

Kenny Ogungbe on his part remained resilient, insisting he would stand by his words. They exchanged hot, abusive words impossible to publish including the F word as they were pulled apart by concerned friends who feared the brawl may soon go physical.

Kenny Ogungbe went on to say “After now, if anything happens to me, it is on your head”
The incident happened immediately after the first session of the conference where Mr. Kenny Ogungbe had been amongst a panel of discussants along side Cool DJ Jimmy Jat, Sound Sultan, MI and Weird MC during which pertinent industry issues had been raised.

The panel before taking questions from participants discussed “Looking at the music scene through the eyes of talents, labels, investors, consumers, regulatory bodies. The role of an artiste in the digital age and lastly, surviving in a peculiar industry like Nigeria.

However Weird MC in her opening had raised questions on the “exploitation of our works”. She noted that the music industry is no longer about just entertainment but a business that should be accounted for. She claimed that music properties of artistes were being exploited with no form of payments made as settlements.

Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) is Nigeria’s sole government approved collective management organization for musical works and sound recordings. Weird MC specifically asked the society if they had any kind of international affiliations with international music copyright regulatory bodies to help check the exploitation of works put out by Nigerian artistes.

According to her “We need to address the International Affiliations involved cause this is a business.
Kenny Ogungbe had stepped out after the panel to re-emphasis these statements made by Weird MC to reporters before making the comments that infuriated Chief Okoroji.

After the heated argument, both were too angry to speak further on the testy issue.

Celebrities / People Always Misunderstand Me – Jim Iyke by Louis007: 9:27am On Apr 21, 2013
Love him or loathe him, Jim Iyke is one of the very few Nollywood stars who have a knack for gaining attention. From his bad boy/lover boy movie persona to his more than fair share of media outbursts, not to mention the whole AMVCA fiasco, Jim Iyke has lived his life in the pages of newspapers. His controversial lifestyle has become a way of life for him, yet he’s the most sought after in the industry.

In an attempt to give a new meaning to his life, Jim during the week debuted with his reality TV show on DStv called, Jim Iyke Unscripted, where he decides to unveil himself to the world. In this engaging interview, he talks about the show, the man, Jim Iyke and his many undoings.

What’s Jim Iyke Unscripted all about?
It’s a chronicle of my everyday life. An unbarred access into my life by cameras which capture the essence of my existence. Mostly my beliefs, my philosophy, my ideology and my everyday life. I wanted a perspective that is entirely mine so that when people choose to make judgments about me, my brand and life, they will have a second thought. For once in my life, I want people to see me in my entirety without bias and to judge me without prejudice. This is the platform for me to tell my story not doctored, unscripted and on a different platform.

How long did it take you to conceptualise this idea?
They have been chasing me around to actualise this dream since middle of last year. Initially, I refused doing it. But you see, I was bored while sojourning in Nollywood. It’s the same run-of-the mill. I’m not saying that Nollywood is not a great entity because it’s the industry that made me who I am today. I am eternally grateful to Nollywood. But there is need for me to move on and stop travelling in circle.

I think it was at this point that the idea was born. I didn’t believe in a reality TV show. I have paid my dues in every respect. I was waiting for the time the right role will come my way. It was at that point, that Greyology Inc started managing me. According to them, I was picked because they thought I was the only person who could propagate the African brand. I felt honoured.

However, in the course of our discussion,I was eager to know the next step to take. OH Africa and AfricaMagic at that point told me that I live a very interesting life that involves travelling around the globe. In fact, I travel to an average of twelve countries every year on my own personal capacity. They were also eager to know what I do in these countries. And when I told them, they were excited, hence they suggested that we capture my travelling life through a reality TV show.

Initially, I didn’t buy the idea as I never believed in a reality TV show. But on a second thought, I said to myself whether I like it or not, reality TV is the new TV show. The biggest of the names are doing it, and the ones who are not involved are trying to be part of it. TV content is becoming increasingly boring, you need to hold an audience that cut across every facet of life. And the only thing that brings them together is a reality TV show.

I knew it was coming and the question is, who is going to be in the forefront when it arrives. Am I going to keep refusing and be another guy that is experimenting on an idea that has already been experimented. I have never shy away from taking bold decisions or going against the dream.

They went further to argue that the entirety of my brand and my person has always been taken from the point of view of others, namely, the press, my family, my friends, people that are not really my friends and bloggers. There has always been a story to tell about me and people have drawn conclusion based on what they read in the dailies and soft-sell magazines and created their own judgement from it.

You travelled to how many countries to shoot the series?
We travelled to over eight countries and ten cities to shoot the series. Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, London, Armsterdam, America, Dubai and Nigeria. In every sense of the word, it got a global perspective.

Before coming up with this project, there was another project you anchored called, Jewel for Jim. What happened to the show?

It was a novel idea at that point in time. But everything in life has time frame. It was about me looking for love in continental America. While I wasn’t given to it, I thought it was fun travelling from city to city. I was in America for two months, and there was this group of nice people who offered to bankroll my stay in America, just for us to have fun. They sold the idea of the project, Jewel for Jim. But at a point, a better part of me cautioned and said, hold on, this is not where you should be heading to. At that point, I pulled out.

Did you find the love you were looking for thereafter?
I didn’t find a brass. There were a lot of Latino women, Caribbean women, Africans in the diaspora. Seeing all kinds of not too delectable women. It was a bit flattery.I retraced my steps the moment I realised it wasn’t the right place for me to be.

In your opinion, would you say, you have been misunderstood over the years?
I have always been misunderstood. Many times when things happen, I hardly come out to state my own side of the story. This is because I hate to join issues with anybody. Nobody likes to be intensively scrutinised. I have felt that intrusion in the deepest part of my life. I think that’s what made me to rebel to some extent. You know what happens when fingers are pointed at you. I’ve seen people who do not live a normal life, yet they are first to point accusing fingers at others.

The press didn’t help matters in my case. Who is paying the price? They forget that I have a family which I’m answerable to. It’s my parents who get hurt whenever wrong things are written about me. People who are dear to me probably do not find what they are doing very funny. So, while these were going on, it degenerated to the point where it became a way of life for me. It became a belief in Nigeria and Africa. And everybody that has been affiliated with my brand over the years readily embraced it.

Unscripted has given me an avenue to revisit every issue that has been an issue in my life. It came up during the course of our shooting the series. One way or the other, on the social media, with the print and electronic, personal issues with friends and fans which I’ve taken actions in the wrongest forms. In such little thing as business, people do business and end up in court because of disagreement.

And while it’s easy to point accusing fingers at me and call me names because I’m in the limelight and of course, pointing accusing fingers at me will make news. People forget that I’m a normal human being that is going through the normal issues in terms of business transactions. I can’t come out to claim that some people tried to defraud me because nobody knows them. At the end of the day, it takes the strongest of character to survive all the ordeals.

And while I’ve survived it, it has made me stronger and wiser. Yes, I don’t shy away from life experiences and I’m not ashamed of them. They don’t embarrass me because I’ve embraced them. They inform me, they order my steps, they strengthen my conviction and tell me the direction to follow. And that I think more than anything else re-enforces my philosophy.

Jim Iyke has virtually achieved everything he set out to achieve, except finding the love of his life. Is Jim ever thinking of settling down?

We are on it, and I’m working even harder in my career too. I don’t know anyone that works harder than I do. But again, I enjoyed my relationships on the pages of newspapers and I know it always ends adversely. So, I’ll rather keep this one very close to my chest and when we are both ready, we’ll announce to the whole world.

Are you saying you are in a relationship at the moment?
I didn’t say yes or no. Anybody can think whatever he or she likes.

But isn’t that the problem because you hardly say anything and people put words into your mouth?

They don’t put words into my mouth. They put words into their own mouths. That is what informs the essence of my brand. The fact that it’s easy for people to blow things out of proportion and we create the excitement as it seems. I can’t help that course, and why I said this, is that it can’t help my brand. Personally, it caused me a great deal of distress. At the end of the day, somebody suffers for it every time the wrong conclusion is made-either somebody is doing business or about to do business with me.

Was it something you wanted to create; the bad boy of Nollywood?
It wasn’t what I set out to create. It was forced on me to make a little noise with it. Everybody has a claim to fame and obviously, it was because of the few roles I played when I started acting which happened to be bad boy roles. So, it’s easy when you are dealing with a country where certain things are consciously embraced. Nigerians are stubborn in what they accept and it’s very hard to break it.

We are very traditional thinkers. So, if Nigerians label somebody as ‘a bad person’, it becomes a trademark. Importantly, when you weigh your pros and cons, it comes to a point where you throw your hands up and surrender. As long as people that care for me, no matter how small they are, I’ll survive. It is not the best notion, but I’ve always survived. Unscripted is the wisest project for me to embark upon.

What are we expecting to see in Jim Iyke Unscripted?
Expect everything that’s unplanned, a risk and people with a logical view will not say or do. There are things in Unscripted that will hurt me but I just want to tell my story. I’m tired of being judged for the wrong reason. I want to give people a proper perspective. When you have a proper perspective, then, you’re being judged in totality and not in a biased way. I just want to tell my story because I’m tired of people telling my story for me whether in good or in bad faith.

Will you say it’s a way of re-branding yourself?
Re-branding is making it commercial because people’s argument is that I was paid a lot of money to do it. It’s not shady and I have some kind of incentives to do this. It’s not easy to take a large number of people across the globe to shoot the series because that’s what my life is all about.

It’s easier to budget myself into my day’s endeavour but to take in all lessons and everybody wants to have the best of things. So, it takes a lot of money. The returns were not shady but the focal point is to tell a story that’s been told for over a decade by people that were not in the know. Whatever anybody wants to say in the simplest form is that it came from the horse’s mouth.

How do you relate with women around you?
I grew up among women. It’s another thing that people find very hard to embrace. I grew up traditionally. I have traditional Igbo parents. No matter how enlightened you are, your people are domiciled on tradition and culture. A Nigerian is a Nigerian and trust me, I’ve travelled round the globe and I can pick our people out from a crowd of millions without saying a word.

I’m a Nigerian. I propagate this gospel anywhere I go to. We are arrogant and rash, we are one in five and we cannot go unnoticed. So, when you are in a place headlining people that are smart, you have to be exceptional. Our women are the same; outgoing, strong, goal-getters even when they are doing the wrong things, they do it with an air of certainty.

So, I grew up with open-minded women and if you are a man who is not strong, you may find their ways reprehensible. If you grow up in such a circle, your first friends are women. I’ve dated people who always question my relationship with other women. How can you tell me a woman is your best friend and you are with me? But then, I’ve made men my best friend and they didn’t add any value to my life. But because I grew up in the company of women, I understand how it works. I know how to demarcate the two boundaries.

Celebrities / Basketmouth’s Reaction To Jonathan Government And Boko Haram Romance by Louis007: 8:09pm On Apr 20, 2013
Governance in Nigeria has been reduced to setting up of Committees, another committee and another, yet we hardly see tangible results.

We observed that many Nigerians, apart from those who are eating from the government, are already complaining about this trend.

Below is how comedian Basketmouth related the Boston bombing incident that happened in the United States of America and the way President Goodluck Jonathan is ‘romancing’ Boko Haram:

“Those who tried to Terrorise Us failed because America has refused to be Terrorised”

……Barak Obama

4 days after the Boston Marathon Bombings, the FBI and state Police in Boston have apprehended the 2 bombers; One dead and one seriously injured.

Just 4 days? That’s unfair now!, they didn’t set up a 26-man Committee? American Government didn’t propose Amnesty/retrain those bombers by sending them abroad? What happened to giving them and their backers state pardon? Haba! How many people did they even kill sef? Why did Obama go to visit the victims family without wearing a bullet proof vest? This Obama sef, he does not know how to govern or deal with terrorists! Pampering them is the way to go not “getting them”.

He did not even fix monthly allowance for other possible Bombers to cool their temper….Hmmmmm? America simply sent their Law Enforcement Agencies, paid with tax payers money and they did what they are paid and trained to do….bring the criminals to Justice! In just 4days.(y) I think our Federal Government should set up a ‘committee’ to look into American Government to stop making ‘Us’ look like we don’t know how to fight Terrorism

Celebrities / Nigeria’s 8 Most Overexposed Celebrities by Louis007: 8:36am On Apr 19, 2013
Welcome to the 21st century in Nigeria. Smartphones are almost the same cost as Johnny Rocket’s Hamburgers. Sim cards are free. Internet services are fairly faster than Nipost’s emails.

Information moves quicker than Daily Times’ newspaper vendors. This change is affecting everything. In the pre-GSM era, Nigerian Celebrities would pray for a spot on Saturday Punch or the other weekend tabloids for exclusive interviews or some amount of exposure. So, you were either good enough to compete with the Sunny Okosun’s and Onyeka Onwenu’s or you were frightening enough to hit the pages almost everyday as a Shina Rambo or you were controversial enough to share spots with Regina Askia on these newspapers.

There was no internet. The masses kept abreast with entertainment news only a week after the papers had been discarded.

In this age, everyone has a Blackberry. Everyone has a blog. There are over 5000 entertainment blogs in Nigeria. Everyone wants to break the news but only a few get exclusive content so everyone copy-pastes whether it is true or a lie. In this era, everyone is a celebrity.

If you hit the red carpet of events, and a hundred blogs can post your pictures, same pictures and repeat that procedure 4 times in a month, you are a celeb. You can make statements. Fashion statements. You can go to Twitter and start a Tweet war. Dahz all.

The problem with overexposure is that your news does not become news eventually and people go like “oh Tonto.. Now what? Unto the next abeg”. Who are the 8 celebrities in Nigeria who get more press, media attention than they need for their health. In no particular order, Segun Adekoye lists them below.

1. Tonto Dikeh

Tonto performs on Easter Sunday, at the sold-out AY Live concert.

Tonto Dikeh understands that Nigerian bloggers want news as they are unable to create for themselves, so she gives it to them. She always wants to be in the news. Tonto wants to be seen on TV. She wants to be heard on radio, so she ventured into singing. She wants to be seen on Twitter so she starts Twitter wars and goes controversial. She likes the media attention. She’s making money from it. This is one celeb that overexposure works for and she knows how to handle it.

2. Mercy Aigbe
On Nairaland, on the web, Mercy Aigbe pictures as much as the Google Search results for “Make Money Online”. The funny thing about Mercy Aigbe is that she can take hundred pictures of the same cloth at the same time on the same spot. Then came the issue of husband beating and the denials and video responses and press releases and ENOUGH of Mercy Aigbe already.

3. Dencia

Who is Dencia? I dunno. A musician who’s in love with her own looks. She loves to pose. She loves wild dresses. She loves to wow. I see pictures of her all over the internet. I think her face is more popular than her voice. I haven’t heard her song before but I heard she’s into music. You think i’m ridiculous. You can say it again.

4. Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa, a lady fair and fine. Toke is always on the news. On the red carpets. On her vlog which is becoming more widely accepted. On-air. Toke is practically in your ears, in your face… in your mouth. I believe she enjoys the media attention.

5. Annie Idibia

Annie has always been on the eye of bloggers, but ever since her traditional marriage to Tuface Idibia, she’s been kept even under more scrutiny by the press. Annie Idibia’s outfit to this… Annie Idibia’s outfit to that… Annie Idibia’s wedding dress… Annie Idibia’s wedding invitation. Annie should expect more though. Her overexposure is just about to start. She should check it.

6. Davido

Davido is always hitting the headlines. Either for a questionable pose with a fan in nocturnal circumstances or something else. When he parted ways with his manager, he was the topic for a while. Twitter dissing, singing or photography, Davido should calm down.

7. Tee Billz

Formerly fairly known as the Tiwa Savage’s manager, the tall dark dude has become more exposed than he should ever since he proposed to the “Love me Love me” crooner. Tee Billz has also posted pictures of himself using the toilet in Burj Al Arab in a gesture that signifies he’s really seeking public attention.

8. Jim Iyke

Even before he started his Jim Iyke Unscripted reality TV show, he had always been in one form or the other on the news. From occasional bouts with blogger Linda Ikeji to controversial fashion statements he makes such as the one he wore to AMVCA, Jim Iyke should be one of those topping the list.
