I narrowed my search down to

Volvo Xc90 2016
RX 350 2015. could stretch it to 2016
Toyota Highlander 2014
Honda Pilot 2016

Which would be the best option for me

The highlander or Rx350 would be your best bet here. Reasons below
- the xc90 which I do think is one beautiful vehicle isn’t that reliable. The T6 engines in this vehicles are prone to crazy oil consumptions from failing piston rings. It quite common
- Honda pilot
Would have probably made it, but there’s just something about their gearbox, but might be something worth considering
- highlander
Well, it’s a Toyota, reliability is much better, and it’s also roomy compared to the Rx350, comes with a JBL sound system, I’m much familiar with the 2019 model year and honest review to me is the sound system is just great, ( if you’ll really want a better sound system you’d be looking out for the German Marque)
- Lexus
The Lexus share most of it’s powertrain with the highlander so definitely reliable, not as large as the highlander but very much refined interior.

well, the glc has a 43 badge also, that uses the m276, same thing in a c400, I think it’s a better motor. It’ll not be so much common like the glc300 though

Well, for a Nigerian used one in modest conditions, you should be pitching 7.5 to 8m

At least get a 2010 with the 2ar engine, they’re much better than the 2007-2009 model.
If not stick with the 07-09

Get a mobil 5w/30 its everywhere.

I believe the previous mechanic and owner uses 20w50.

If its a Nigerian used. And you don’t know the history of that car. You better use 20w/50 there there is high chance that’s what was use previously. To avoid smoking and future problems

I think the vehicle was bought foreign used, yeah 5w30 works just fine too

It's the Acura MDX. Raised quite a storm here in nairaland when I bought it late last year. As a matter of expedience, I changed the oil and filter the same month I bought it. I didn't pay much attention then. It's not shorting oil or anything but I just wanted to add a liter.

Ohh I remember now, get 5w20/ 5w30 for that truck ( from a reputable brand) I’ll suggest Liquimoly though.

Well it shares the same engine with the w205 (m274) and they aren’t the best engines.( gurgeon pin issues that could lead to piston slap) our fuel don’t help either, low octane ratings ( 91 RON) as opposed to premium gas (95 RON) that car would suffer pre-ignition that could also damage the piston. Lastly the engine isn’t cheap also.

My engine says it requires 5W-20 engine oil but all I could find at the market is 50W-20. Since 5W-20 is so scarce here, I'm beginning to suspect the mechanic used 50W20 the previous time I changed the engine oil. What should I do? Should I go ahead with the 50W20?

what vehicle is this, do you have an idea how long the former oil grade has been used ?, does your vehicle suffer from oil shortage.
5w20 oil grade shouldn’t be too hard to find, I have one who supplies Liquimoly and has that oil grade, it’s quite pricy though cause it’s premium.

It’s a bit better, (referring to the latter models)
Your best bet would be to get a car tracking system in place

They are quite similar/ identical vehicles, you wouldn’t go wrong with any of them, quite reliable if they’ve been previously maintained by whoever used them.
A bad note about both vehicles is they are prone to theft or being broken into.
Another note is they are older vehicles so must of them have a higher mileage, now that isn’t bad but there might be one or two things you might need to do to put in shape
