Does anyone think that she was too young to be on social media unmonitored by her parents? I didn't get a facebook until I was 18 and I know other friends who won't let their young daughters have social media pages. I'm not blaming the parents at all, this is truly sad, but if the father is asking for better controls on social media, why doesn't he create those controls in his household? I don't have kids yet, but with all of these social media suicides and child predators, I plan on taking an active role in what my children are doing. How young is too young to be online talking to anonymous strangers and sharing personal details about your life? Bullying happens everywhere, as most people have stated, but at least it can be better monitored and resolved when it's offline. |
Someone may have posted this, but it made me smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcHC4oxWVtg |

On a related note, girls that wear these boots with this dress in the summertime... Your calf is sweating, gross!
|
OMG, are you really wearing a sweater, long sleeve shirt, and slacks like it's not 100 degrees? A saw a black guy acting like it was winter time today...He looked like this, but it's so hot outside! Poor seasonal choices bother me

I think it's more comfortable to wear the watch on the wrist you don't write with. It makes writing easier. I know left handed people who wear their watches on the right. |
They killed this boy for wetting the bed. I couldn't imagine such cruelty. Five days without water: http://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/headlines/20110826-boy-who-died-of-dehydration-was-punished-for-wetting-bed.ece |
Ummm...NO I was at a party with a group of female friends. When I got separated from my friends, some man (a stranger) grabbed me and wouldn't let me go until this guy came up to us and politely asked him to let me go. The guy who saved me then stayed with me until I found my friends. @ Mr. Cork--No one buys or sells me. I'm glad you don't like black women. I'm sure they don't like you. |
I need to have an initial conversation with you that is so intellectually intriguing that I am checking my phone for you to call me and racking my brain for clever things to say. Calling me over to you or catcalling me will result in me ignoring you. Saying something about the way I look is a bad idea. Asking me for my number before you know my name and general direction in life means you are too impatient to find out if I'm worth calling before you call me so why would I talk to you on the phone. A "hello, my name is _____" with a firm handshake and eye contact is actually a good approach for me. Usually from the moment of your first approach I am interviewing you. If you treat it like a job interview: confident, polite, willing to answer questions...etc I'll open up and things will go very well. Did you every start a job interview very formally and professionally, but end up in a relaxed casual conversation with the interviewer? It's a willingness to share and the ability to engage me that I find impressive. Don't start off asking me questions. I'll volunteer information based on your own willingness to share information. Sample Conversation: J: Hi, my name is John. (Extend hand for handshake) G: Hi, my name is Grace. (Handshake) J: Nice to meet you Grace. You know, I'm here with a group of really good friends from college, but I decided I wanted venture beyond our table and meet new people. G: (Laugh) Oh, where did you all go to school? The moment she asks you a question, you've won a conversation with her. I started talking to one guy because he saved me from this creepy guy at a party who grabbed me and won't let my hand go. Grabbing me will have negative results. Anyway, the guy who saved me helped me find my friends (I got separated from the group) and introduced himself to all of us together. We had a great night and did a brunch the next day. He was confident, friendly, nice to my friends ***, and he recognized that I wanted to be respected as a person not worshiped as an object. The reason being nice to my friends is important to me is because how you treat other people let's me know more about you than smiling in my face because you like me. |
Not those plastic shoes... I'm imagining someone with no pedicure, crusty feet hanging off the back because they are not sized properly scraping down the road in a house dress. Someone post a picture that makes these things look good. I am a nonbeliever. ![]() I bet she own 3 pairs of Chinese slippers...

Yes, true life on the bridesmaids, that looks a mess. You can give people options, but limit the range. It's not your day so don't talk about you are an individual or you felt like doing your own thing...fall in line! |
Congrats! This is an exciting time for you and it sounds like you are sharing it with a great person. You can share information with her without giving her the means to exploit you. If you want her advice, sit down and make a budget together. It sounds like she is overbearing and controlling asking for the pin. I wouldn't give her control over your money. She helped, but you earned it. You did the work. You're not sharing your money with all of your professors are you? You being grateful, buying gifts, and being honest should be enough for her. Think about the fact the people's own parent sometimes exploit them financially. You can share without putting yourself at risk. You need to man up and set boundaries before she's running your whole life. |
While I don't like socks and heels, I do wear stockings and heels when it's cold. BUT stockings with holes and runs is stuff I don't like!
|
Lol, I'll leave the verdict out on socks and heels. Someone post of pic of themselves rocking a cute sock-heel combo and I'll think about changing my mind. I personally think the short socks with the kitten heels is not the business. @Mayapop laughing at the woman in your neighborhood. Not all harem pants are created equal. |
Make up too light or dark for your face, too much make up generally...

Yea, I don't like it.

Along with socks and sandals, when did it become OK to wear socks are heels?

Ha! Yes to all of those! Also, people in Boston. I believe Boston is the worst dressed city in the world. I swear they think the rainbow is navy blue, grey, brown, and black.
