hrykanu231: Day after day I keep asking God why He made me a Nigerian. We are blessed with everything and even with things most nations desire, but time and time again we have chosen the part of destruction. We have oil in the region yes and it is a known fact Nigeria depends on our oil for its growth mainly. Instead of us bombing pipelines in our regions can't we intelligently ask for the honest development of the region? This current govt has failed most Nigerians, but instead of blaming themselves they have resorted to shifting blame on the activities of the militants(this might be true to an extent). I have seen four close people who have lost their jobs this season and they are all from the southern part. Why bomb pipelines when there are more sane ways to get our demands met? Politicians are sponsoring this through some not so civilised youths who tomorrow will be granted amnesty, while youths from th same region who went to school and are well behaved will be told NDDC's scholarship is based on quota system reflecting each state or no vacancies despite having the relevant qualifications. Last time, they threatened to bomb if PEJ was probed. Is she better than my grandma in Ekeremor who barely have access to basic health facilities despite serving fatherland for 35 meritorious years?
These politicians steal our money build hotels and Send their children abroad, while they give peanuts to youths to bomb the same pipeline that made them rich. Let us wise up BLESS YOU BROTHER! If only all of us could be critical thinkers. I was on once told the problem with Nigeria is Nigerians. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Some things are yet to change but we'll get there someday soon. |

Ngozi123: I share this sentiment and I believe that this is why it's so important for one to emphasise the peaceful nature of such protests. You are not wrong to be worried about such a thing but you must understand that those people are a vocal minority. The best way to suppress such a group is to be even louder than them with your peaceful aspirations. The absolute worst thing to do would be to tarnish the peaceful ones among them, who are in the majority, with the same brush as that'll create an 'us against them' mentality. We do not want that.
Btw, I'm not sure if providing you with the link to the article is a bannable offence or not so I'll just ask you to google it instead. I'm fresh off a ban so I understand. Like I said, the fact that there were no direct quotes in that article, not even from the officers at the scene, suggests that it is balderdash. I feel that your bias against IPOB is clouding your judgement here. If you look at that story objectively then you'll be as cynical about it as I am. You've even given us an example of IPOB evolving into an even more peaceful organisation that focuses on voluntary participation in its protests yet you go on to suggest that that its members are becoming more violent. That's a contradiction of the highest order. A few aggressive comments from a very small minority on the internet is not enough to even faze me let alone make me to become alarmed about the situation at hand. If that's the case then I'd assume that all Yoruba people are evil and want all Igbos to die because I've seen a few comments from supposed Yoruba posters that have suggested such a thing. I'm sure that you'll give Yoruba people the benefit of the doubt, as would I, as the majority of them are good people, so why won't you afford these people the same courtesy? Please provide a link to the article refuting the arrest. I posted the other article to prove I'm not biased. I said I'm worried about the group becoming a tyrannical organization. If heaven forbid the leadership got hijacked by the very group of touts who aren't as evolved then what? That is the element I'm worried about. I know we are peaceful but that what worries me. You're being rude because you're calling/implying me something I'm not because I have a differing opinion. It doesn't have to come to that. At all times, let's respect one another. Life throws us enough curve balls and raises blood pressure enough. We don't need for NL to be another source of frustration. We can disagree without letting get to the point where people start trying to defame others. All I'm against is people being forced against their will to sit home. If anything he is distorting things by not being Pan-African but that's another topic for another day. He's not courageous he's careless. He lacks tact and is suffering for no reason. I'm not saying forget about the man but making people lose money is not helping him come home any sooner. Ngozi123: I already explained it in my post. Do you take the Nigerian Police Force at their word? Please answer this question honestly. They didn't provide any quotes from the traders who were said to have been molested nor did they provide any quotes from the supposed onlookers. They didn't even provide an official quote from the policeman there at the scene. In my experience, when an article fails to show any quotes that support their story, it's usually balderdash. This is because they could be sued for saying that someone said something they didn't.
It doesn't matter what people in this thread say. A lot of people say things on the internet that they would never do in real life; one can never know who is being honest and who is lying or exaggerating here. I take things on a case by case basis. If and when IPOB or MASSOB refute the story or defend those who were arrested I will contest the story. It's not about trusting the police nor the journalists but rather understanding the environment. You and I both know they don't care about lawsuits from the common man. They can tie it up in court or get it dismissed very easily. Traders won't give their names in these stories because they don't want any kickback. I'm pointing out the statements made in this thread to further illustrate the climate that is being cultivated in the East. Thoughts become words and words become actions. I'd rather come across as an alarmist than remain lax and allow things to degenerate out of control. And in case I'm not clear I do not support the strong arm approach to civilians by security forces. No lives should be lost. Likewise, I don't support people being intimidated. If this is voluntary fine by me but anything else is uncivilized. |
Politics › Re: Ipob’s Threat Forces Bishops To Flee Anambra by LoveMachine(m): 7:55pm On Sep 22, 2016 |
Ngozi123: The first article is invalid, considering that the only source in it is from the Abia State Police Department. It's highly likely that they were arrested for distributing the leaflets and 'spreading the word' as Nigerian police officers are prone to lying.
Again, look at the date of the second article. Going from the article, it seems that IPOB have learned from their mistakes in the past, hence the emphasis on the voluntary nature of the protest.
You've already agreed with me about the last article so the less said about that one, the better . Like I said, I would be very surprised if there are no people, Igbo or otherwise, going about their daily business in the South-East tomorrow. How can you choose which articles are valid and invalid? What makes a source valid and another invalid? We have people in this very thread who have said they who personally physically abuse anyone who chooses to not stay home. C'mon now. There are clearly people who are being forced to stay home. Let's not play games. There are bad apples in this bunch. |
Politics › Re: Ipob’s Threat Forces Bishops To Flee Anambra by LoveMachine(m): 6:44pm On Sep 22, 2016 |
Ngozi123: No offence, but none of the articles you posted support your argument. The first one refers to 12 IPOB members who were arrested for distributing pro-Biafra leaflets. The second is from almost a year ago, thus has nothing to do with the upcoming 'sit-in' protest. Finally, the last one actually contradicts your point; it actually quotes MASSOB as saying that the protest is entirely voluntary and that no one will be forced to participate in it. Read through them again and tell me what you think. I figured you would say that. I didn't want to disrespect and cherry pick points without allowing you to read it for yourself. This was chosen to show the manner in which people are being nudged into obliging with the sit in.https://newtelegraphonline.com/police-arrest-12-ipob-members/According to a release signed by the spokesman of the state Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and made available to the media, the suspects were nabbed inside the popular Ogbete Market of Enugu State as they allegedly went into the market with public address system to threaten and inflict fears on the members of the public.
They allegedly told traders to stay away from the market from September 20, 2016. This was chosen to show that he traders are not happy to be forced to shut their businesses down.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/biafra-ipob-massob-shut-down-markets-in-nnewi-aba-for-nnamdi-kanu/Strict warning In Aba, Abia State, members of the group warned traders across markets not to open for business today. Vanguard gathered that IPOB members visited Ariaria International, Ngwa Road, Cemetery and Ekeoha markets with public address system announcing to the traders to shut their shops. A cross section of traders, who spoke to Vanguard, condemned the order and appealed to the IPOB members to allow the markets open. According to them: ”They should allow the markets open. Any trader, who wants to join the protest is free, but a total closure of the market will hurt us severely.” A trader, Mrs. Nwamaka Nnadi, who also faulted the ‘order,’ said the announcement warning traders to steer clear of the markets started on Sunday, as some pro Biafra agitators were observed in some areas, ‘spreading the message.’ This was chosen to show I'm not painting with a broad brush. I understand and commend the people who are voluntarily choosing to stay home. It is their blessed right to do so. I'm not saying all involved are miscreants but there exists a group within that has the ability to do some real harm. I don't speak for that man. From my vantage point he misspoke with the 95% vs 5% statement. It was misquoted and blown out of proportion by the opposition who have shown they hate us more than the present gov't. He should have immediatley cleaned up that fauxpas because has been used to cause major dissent in the land. Tribalistic? I don't see it. From the standpoint of important ministries we have some important positions. The security forces are lacking but I'm not familiar with how the promotions work in that sector. He allocated funds for the 2nd Niger Bridge. He's building a railway in through the SS, SE & SW. Mind you this is during a time of thin resources. The Enugu-Onitsha Expressway is about to be redone and Zik's mausoleum is about to get a facelift. I don't expect us to agree on all matters but we can always show respect to each other. Ngozi123: Would you be ever so kind to share such articles? Not a problem. Once again, I'm not saying there aren't people who don't want to join the protest. I'm not saying everyone involved is forcing others. The Bishops decided to call of their meetings, not that IPOB asked them not to meet. From experience, the security forces might begin their unwarranted confrontation and arrests which could lead to violence. I don't blame the Bishops for calling off their meeting. Wait until tomorrow before you can say whether people are harassed or stopped from moving about by force.

Ngozi123: Imo, they're only telling people to stay at home for their own safety. If it really is true that the Nigerian security forces are bulking up then that spells danger for anyone who walks outside of their homes. Innocent people- both IPOB and non-IPOB members- have been murdered just for being in the same vicinity as the protests so it's not a far fetched idea that the Nigerian security forces will be shooting people at will. How is ensuring that as little as possible life is lost an example of tyrannical behaviour? I see what your saying but their intent isn't what you are explaining it to be. I've read articles where people are being harassed and forced to stay home. Traders who want to earn on those days are being told to stay home not for their safety but for a showing of "solidarity." onespecial: Ok, i see u are truely Igbo. Now, do u prefer we continue to suffer and die and see no reason to agitate just to have peace ? Can't u see the conpiracy in this nation Nigeria ? Why are leaders from other tribes afraid of settling things with us through discussion ? We have been sacrificing since the wat ended, why are they afraid of making a little sacrifice to adjust their position with us in this nation if we demand so ?
Nobody forced anybody to join but cordination is needed to achieve a result as there are enemies within. It is not all ablout feeding or what u will gain, sacrifices are needed in certain stages of life. Just a day sit at home for our collective interest won't send one to his grave. Moreover, not like it was suddenly announced, it has been announced at least three weeks b4 time to get us all prepared.
Just the way it affected these Bishops, we pray it affeccts other activities so that its discussion and way forward will commence soon.
I am not trying to make u see reason to join the agitation regards to u not being an enemy but i need u to see that there are things keeping us all ( all tribes ) down just because of hate. Policies that would move us forward will be held back just because it is seen it will favour some people hated. They in power see it that such policy is better not carried out than have it empower some certain people.
Nobody from our side hates anybody. We all know what we lose or gain in Nigeria. There is no way majority of our people would have such intent on Biafra if it is not in our interest.
Mind you, i'v said all without talking about religious games underground too. THE SUFFERING MUST STOP! I detest the current configuration of the country. I want nothing ore than equity. You are a sensible person. Your points are clear and on point. You are using reason and tact in your statements. But most of the people who want to split use all kinds of hate speech towards others as if we all aren't black people. I can't understand how we can be this way. My beef isn't with anyone but the people who allow criminals to loot the commonwealth, allow people to kill our women, men and children under the guise of herding and any other poor forms of governance. All I want is justice. The last time they called for a shutdown of markets and people who didn't oblige had some of their stores attacked. A few days ago some touts were arrested for threatening traders who hadn't yet agreed to sit home. There is a growing group of people who say Biafra is their religion and Kanu is their savior. That is what bothers me. The cult like groupthink is what is so dangerous. noblezone: It is only a silly Igbo man that need to be harassed before he shuts down his business for this protest.
If I have my way, I will go round markets with canes and flog some common sense into the empty heads of us little minds.
It is far better than shooting people while they are sleeping and burning there houses.
j am participating willingly and it has nothing to do with Nnamdi Kanu . He is only a symbol of the struggle. He is a dot in the ocean.
Cursed be the white witches that invaded our lands in the name of colonialism. So what you are saying is that if someone doesn't support the "cause" the should be beaten if you had your way? I agree with you about colonialism. |

onespecial: Because of which one man? That same man that is ur nightmare is in that situation because of our target and i sure know u are from the tribe that prefer killings and destruction of lives and properties like herdsmen do to peaceful and harmless demonstrations by Biafrans.
Yes, to u descendants of fallen angel, sent down with all his evils in a calabash, killings and destructions of lives and properties are civil and ideal way to express one's grievances while demonstrations are already demonic to u just because of ur selfish interests.
What i have faith in is, the struggle can never be wiped away from the minds of Biafrans just with mere use of force. One day the momentum will succeed. What are you talking about? I! AM! IGBO! How is alright to arbitrarily shut down an entire region? How will people earn? Will you feed their children? If people want to join that's fine. But to force them? You are becoming the very thing you hate and you can't see it. We are better than this but we as a group have been blinded by lies, hard times and mistreatment. I'm not your enemy. Get your mind right. |

SamuelAnyawu: Lol. That's why I don't bother commenting on such threads Nope. Only a mod can silence me on here. When I look back I don't want to have any regrets of not raising my voice to speak and allowing stupidity and ignorance to reign. Never stop spreading truth. If you believe you are correct keep shooting. Morons don't take days off so neither can you. |

Brooklynsouth: your business, your headache you think about it you go mental and if you try to stop it you die simple .who cares if you. Like it ....pls go to igweocha, aba, onitcha and akwaibom and say this come back aand tell what you experienced that's if u ll make it What are you saying? I see you typed a message but it's not very well conveyed. onespecial: Pls they are not ur muslim folks from west or north. These are intelligent and reasonable poeple. Did u see the crowd that protested in Abia,Anambra and co ? Does that see, like sthing growng or intent of Biafran population ?
Keep shying away from the truth and continue to regard us as just a group against u. We don't want togetherness with u anymore shouldn't be hard for u to grab. We are not same, we are different in many areas, we've been managing ourselves to see if we are compactible but no, we are not.
Stay on ur own simple. We are not asking for ur blood or head, just stay on ur own.
That is a foolish reasoning to think that poeple who demand you become independent of anybody are becoming something else. Is ur tribe still a baby that must be breast fed ? Maaaaan I'm Igbo! Stop it already! This blind groupthink is the very thing that worries me. I voice a different view and now I'm no longer Igbo? People are harassing traders and restricting movement for one man? Priests are being molested? The very freedoms we claim to practice are being thrown to the dogs for one man? That's never been the way we rock. Not then. Not now. Not ever. If this is how Biafra will be run I'm not too optimistic. |
