CONTROVERSIES

A false allegation was made against Felix Idiga in mid September 2014 when an online medium reported that his private jet was used by the then President, Goodluck Johnathan’s administration, to smuggle the sum of $9.3m from Nigeria to South Africa.

The allegations was however disproved by the
presidency and found to be all lies when even the owner of the seized plane, Pastor Ayo Oritsejefor came out to declare the plane in question belonged to him. Goodluck Johnathan’s administration later admitted they permitted the cash for purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram in the Northeast. Felix Idiga also provided evidence and flight plans to show that his plane was no where in South Africa around the time of the allegations.

Every epoch of human existence produces its own unique sets of Legends and their array of uncommon accomplishments. Regrettably, there is no legend without a scar emanating either from the bruises of physical assaults or meta narratives; in extreme cases, both interplay to subdue their sterling records for reasons not so unconnected with deliberate mischief by human folks, disappointingly so, folks from the household of Legends.

Chief Idiga Felix is one of the Legends of this epoch with his own fair share of reckless scars. The Amaifeke business mogul and philanthropist have erroneously been a subject of unfounded news reports, chief amongst them being the unsubstantiated $9.3million dollars arms deal scandal. The falsehood only gained credence on the basis of a festering animosity for the towering profile of the enigmatic CEO of JAFAC Group, whose selflessness have so allured his people that they keep calling on him to chart a political path for their socioeconomic advancement. This singular act has not only provoked hate from some powerbrokers who feed fat at the expense of the people's welfare, but informed the longstanding character assassinations of Chief Felix Idiga on the media.

The truth about the story remains that;

? No investigation has indicted Chief Felix Idiga or his company.

? The said aircraft does not belong to him or any of his companies

? His aircraft with the Registeration number N497AG is registered with the name SWAT Technology Ltd. and was never involved in any cash-for-arms deal as peddled by some distraught elements.

The Man who his people have come to define as "God's promise to them" (Nkwa Chukwu Kwere Orlu), has remained undeterred by the deliberate mischief of power mongers who are bent on casting a snag on his unblemished integrity. Chief Idiga, as a consummate grassroot leader understands the basic concerns of his people. Little wonder the aptness of his very affective empowerment and humanitarian projects scattered across Orlu zone and beyond. The obvious threat he poses is to the enemies of populist welfare, persons who have not affected the lives of the people positively in spite of their seeming perpetuity in power.

While I reckon that "all is fair in love and war", I also believe that life is governed by basic principles and these principles must of necessity shape our social and political relations with each other. The media as a very sensitive institution, must not let loose of its enduring etiquette by ensuring a balance of stories before hitting the press. Most of the damaging stories on Chief Felix Idiga's involvement in the spurious arms deal lack depth and are laced with mudslinging than objective reportage. The thousands of persons whose smile remain the utmost concern of Chief Felix Idiga are his driving force, not even the blackmail and vandetta missions of a few millers of vile have vitiated his resolve to better the lot of humanity.

I am persuaded that lies are not only fickle but also self destructive. Those who peddle it may not understand this. However, they cannot be immuned from its dire consequences, because karma is indeed out there. Chief Felix Idiga against the admonition of rabblerausers has shunned every entreaty to initiate legal actions against these "pay-as-you-go" online publishers running this calumny against his hard earned personality. Indeed, rumours are initiated by enemies, spread by ignorants and accepted by the shallow minded.

kikake:
The Rescue Owerri governor, Rochas Okorocha, believed to be eyeing Orlu zone Senate post, what will he campaign on that he did for Orlu lga, the second most populated city in Imo state?:

1, he expanded Ihioma/Amaigbo road and three other short streets - total 4.5km; now working on the long abandoned old Owerri road;

2) established a two block School of Hygiene,

3) built market stalls.

But floods from uncompleted urban drainage system ravage Orlu.

Internal urban roads of Orlu are an eyesore.

Rescue governor can easily win Owerri senatorial zone where for seven years he built nearly all his development infrastructures and boasts he is making Owerri a Mega City like Dubai. At the same time, Orlu urban lga deteriorated.

Politics / Igbo Will Not Get Senate Presidency Because They Voted For Atiku – APC Replies K by luckynewsinfo: 4:55am On Mar 29, 2019
The ruling APC said it does not deserve any blame for not zoning the position of Senate President or Deputy Senate President to the South-East.

Rather it said the South-East should blame itself for queuing behind Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP in the just concluded general elections.

The party was reacting to the outburst of Orji Uzor Kalu, who said that unless the APC makes him the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate, he will fight to become the Senate President.

Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, in a chat with Daily Independent said while nobody is stopping Kalu from contesting for the position of Senate President, the reality is that he cannot win since the zoning arrangement didn’t favor him.

According to him, rather than getting angry with APC leadership, Kalu should blame his people in the South-East for putting all their eggs in one basket by rejecting President Muhammadu Buhari and casting over 90 percent of their votes for Atiku.

“That shouldn’t be a problem. He can contest for the position of Senate President. But the issue is, can he win? Nobody is stopping him from contesting. Igbo people always play themselves out. So, Kalu cannot blame APC.

“He should blame his own people from the South-East. He should blame them because they don’t know how to play politics. They play politics like a one-way thing. They all voted for Atiku in the presidential election. So, now that Atiku lost, who will help people like Orji Kalu? 99.9 percent of them followed Atiku.

“So, what is Kalu crying for? He should go back to his people and educate them on how politics is played especially at the national level. They should play 50-50. If this one didn’t work, the other can work.

“So, Orji Uzor Kalu must go back to his people and educate them because he himself is not worthy to be Senate President or Deputy Senate President. So, if he wants to contest, he can do so. Nobody is stopping him. But I know that he cannot win”, he said.

Nairaland / General / Nigerian Civil War With Biafra: The Untold Story by luckynewsinfo: 9:24pm On Mar 07, 2019
The Nigerian Civil War, popularly known as the Nigeria-Biafra War which lasted from 6th July 1967 – 15th January 1970 almost destroyed the unity of Nigeria.

The Civil War was fought to reintegrate and reunify the country. It was a result of the Nigerian government’s efforts to counter the struggle by Igbo people of the Eastern Region to break away from Nigeria under the new name – The Republic of Biafra led by a military officer and politician, late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

It is believed that the war became inevitable because the Igbo people felt they could no longer co-exist with the Northern-dominated Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Nigerian Civil War which broke out on 6 July 1967 and lasted until January 15, 1970, was the culmination of an uneasy peace and instability that had plagued the Nation from independence in 1960.

It was a result of a long period of alleged political, economic, ethnic, cultural and religious deprivations, which had its genesis in the geography, history, culture and demography of Nigeria.

Biafran States

The Republic of Biafra was mainly made up of the former Eastern region of Nigeria and was inhabited principally by the Igbo ethnic group. Biafra has been commonly divided into four main “tribes” which include: the Igbos, the Ibibio-Efiks, the Ijaws and the Ogojas.

The modern-day states that make up Biafra from the eastern region and Midwest are Abia, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Delta, Rivers and Cross River, Igbanke in Edo state and southern part of Benue state. Edo.

Biafran Flag

The flag of the Republic of Biafra was created by the Biafran Government and raised on May 30, 1967. It consists of red, black, and green horizontal colours. At the middle of it, a golden sun rises over a golden bar; the sun has eleven rays, representing the eleven provinces of Biafra.

The Red Pan-African color on the Biafra flag represents the blood that unites all people of Black African ancestry and shed for liberation.

The Black colour represents the black people whose existence as a nation, though not a nation-state, is affirmed by the existence of the flag.

The Green represents the abundant natural wealth of the region.

Biafran Currency

The Republic of Biafra had a different currency from that of Nigeria – the Biafran pound which went public on 28 January 1968.

The Biafran government created the Bank of Biafra, accomplished under “Decree No. 3 of 1967”. The bank was administered by a governor and four directors; the first governor, who signed on bank notes, was Sylvester Ugoh.

The currency of Biafra had been the Nigerian pound until the Bank of Biafra started printing out its own notes, the Biafran pound. It is estimated that a total of £115–140 million Biafran pounds were in circulation by the end of the war.

The Genesis

The immediate cause of the civil war may be identified as the coup and the counter coup of 1966 which altered the political equation and destroyed the fragile trust existing among the major ethnic groups.

Before the full-blown war, there was a military coup in 1966 (carried out by Maj. Nzeogwu which led to the death of Tafawa Belewa, among others), a counter-coup (led by Gowon, which led to the brutal murder of Aguiyi Ironsi, Fajuyi, among others) and a persecution of the Igbo people living in Northern Nigeria, forcing them to return home. Even on their way home, many of them were killed in disturbing circumstances.

There have been divided opinions on the 1966 coup as some argue that corruption among the civilian ruling class pushed the military to organize the coup, while others opine that the control of oil production in the Niger Delta was also a major factor.

In May 1967, the Federal Military Government divided the country into twelve states from the original four regions, but the former Eastern Region under Lt. Col. Ojukwu saw the act of the creation of states by decree “without consultation” as the last straw, and declared the Region an independent state of “Biafra”.

Consequently, the Federal Military Government saw this act of secession as illegal. Several meetings were held to resolve the issue peacefully without success. To avoid disintegration of the country, the central government was left with no choice but to forcefully bring back the region to the main fold.

As soon as the war began, the Federal Military Government of Nigeria led by General Yakubu Gowon surrounded the Biafra territory and captured the oil –rich coastal areas.

The blockade imposed during the war led to severe famine such that within the two and half years (30 months) the war lasted, there were over 100,000 overall military casualties, while nearly two million civilians died from starvation, which was a deliberate policy adopted by Nigeria to bring the people on the Biafra side to their knees.

Western powers were also involved in the war, with Britain and the then Soviet Union backing Nigeria, while France and a few other countries supported Biafra.

The Biafra Civil War And Its End

At the orders of the Federal Military Government, the Nigerian federal troops marched in two divisions into Biafra on the 6th of July, 1976. Division 1, led by Col. Shuwa operated through the north of Biafra, while the second Division advanced on Nsukka which later fell on July 14.

On the 9th of July, the Biafrans led by Lt. Col. Banjo retaliated by marching into the mid-western region of Nigeria across the Niger River, passing through Benin City and later stopped at Ore on August 21.

The Biafran troops captured the mid-west easily because there was little repulsion from soldiers guarding the region. This infuriated Gowon and he asked Col. Muhammad Murtala to form another division (Division 2) to drive the Biafrans out of mid-west and attack Biafra as well.

The mid-west region was recaptured by the Nigerian army on the 20th of September.

Enugu was made the capital of Biafra, and later when Enugu was captured in October 1967, Aba, Umuahia and Owerri served successively as the provisional capitals.

Within a year, the Federal Military Government captured the city of Port Harcourt and many other coastal oil facilities. The Federal Miltary Government blocked all the routes for transporting food into the Republic of Biafra which led to severe starvation.

The FMG saw this as a war strategy and a way to keep Nigeria united, while many people around the world saw this as nothing but a genocide. The food flown in by foreign mercenary pilots was very little and couldn’t solve the starvation Biafra was facing. Over 2 million Biafrans died of starvation.

By the end of the year 1969, it was obvious that the war will soon come to an end. The FMG launched its final operation known as “Operation Tail-Wind” on January 7, 1970.

The operation was carried out by the 3rd Marine Commando Division and supported by the 1st and 2nd Infantry Division. Owerri was captured on the 9th of January, while Uli fell on the 11th of that same January.

Aware of the hopelessness of the situation, the self- acclaimed Biafra head of state, Lt. Col. Ojukwu fled the Republic immediately with his family on the 10th of January 1970.

The commander of the Biafran army, who was left with the administration of the Republic later surrendered to the Federal Government on the 14th of January, 1970, thus bringing the civil war and bloodshed to an end. The war officially ended on the 15th of January, 1970.

The sudden end of the war in 1970 was a big relief to both sides and the entire world was elated when General Yakubu Gowon said there was no victor, no vanquished. His government also introduced the popular three ‘Rs’, which stood for Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.

At the end of the civil war, the Federal Military Government ordered that all Biafran currencies must be deposited into a bank account immediately or they would become worthless.

After everyone complied with the directive, they again ordered that every former Biafran account holder will receive only the sum of 20 pounds regardless of how much they had in their account.

This most Biafrans believed was an unjustified act of the civil war as heads of households were forced to rebuild their financial holdings as well as support a typically large African family with only 20 pounds.

NYSC / Story Of A Naija Youth Corper That Sells Banana During CDS To Save Up by luckynewsinfo: 8:07pm On Mar 06, 2019
The National Youth Service is a one year compulsory programme for graduates arranged by Nigerian Government to promote national unity and help fresh graduates find their way around labour market.
They assign all corp members to different states and on reaching the various states every corp member is assigned a place of primary assignment, this is where the problem lies most times some PPAs pay to support the corp members while some don't, some states pay while some don't, some states have better opportunities than others, causing the usual clamour and prayers by mobilised corp members to be posted to states with better opportunities.
The Federal Government pays an allowance of 19,800 naira per month, getting a state and a PPA that pays makes you a bigger corp member while corp members that find themselves in a state and PPA that doesn't pay are the average corp members they always wear the "NYSC ISSA SCAM" face, if you echo "corper wee!!" You are strictly on your own because this set of corp members won't even smile at you. They trek to work to make the 19,800 count they are the real corpers, certified "under the rain and in the sun, with diligence and selflessness corpers".

The later was the case of this young corper Patrick while others are complaining and murmuring, Patrick was looking for a solution, determined to make his one year work, he began to look around for anything that can fetch him extra cash, as a result of this Patrick became the famous "Banana boy".
He hawks Banana during CDs meetings and clearance, Infact wherever and whenever two or three corpers are gathered Patrick and his banana is live and direct there.

I met him one day and asked him "o boy for this hot sun guy u still der hustle, after working at your PPA you still show up with banana during free days", he was like " my guy as you see me so, I der send money for ma'le and pa'le through my allowance, I gats use extra cash hold body".

Politics / I Know Atiku Will Not Succeed That Is Why I Supported Buhari Says Obiano by luckynewsinfo: 6:08pm On Mar 03, 2019
Willie Obiano, Anambra State Governor has revealed that he supported President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, because he knew before hand that the president will win his reelection bid last weekend.

Governor Obiano, who disclosed this on Saturday in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. James Eze, said he knew that it was impossible to beat President Muhammadu Buhari in the last presidential and National Assembly elections.

The governor said he made it clear to his close friends and allies that the opposition did not stand a chance against the president.

He argued that in a federation that has developed a thick skin for fairness, equity and justice, it is wiser to be subtle than confrontational.

He warned that Ndigbo must not stumble twice over the same stone. But nobody understood him then, for though most of them have been in politics long before him, but foresight is a gift that is not available to everyone.

“And now that the chickens have come home to roost, it has become clear to Governor Obiano that foresight comes at a price.

“Foresight is a lonely path to tread. It breeds unexpected resentment and hate. Having foresight could turn you into a sudden object of anger and unwise attacks.

“But on the long run, it never leaves you without the enduring sheen of grace and glory. And that happens only when the people finally wake up to smell the coffee.

“Sadly, in the case of many farsighted leaders, this happens after they are out of office or after they are gone!”

Recall that Obiano had denied claims by candidates of some political parties in the state that he had endorsed them for the forthcoming general elections, saying that he had endorsed only candidates of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

Politics / Imo APC Demands Resignation Of Oshiomhole, Says Okorocha’s Suspension Vo by luckynewsinfo: 1:20pm On Mar 03, 2019
The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has condemned the suspension of Governor Rochas Okorocha by the National Working Committee, NWC.

The party’s chairman in the state, Daniel Nwafor, addressing a press conference in Owerri on Saturday, said the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole disregarded the rule of law in the suspension of governor Rochas Okorocha.

According to Nwafor, the party’s state chapter would not honour the ‘purported suspension’ of Okorocha from the APC, adding that the former governor of Edo State had outlived his usefulness in the party.

Nwafor further noted that the party’s record in the state showed that the governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma was not a registered member of the APC in his ward in the Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

He stressed that it had no governorship candidate in the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election.

He said, “I was with the APC chairman from Ogboko ward where the governor hails from. There was no letter from the NWC to him to query the governor for any offence.

“The truth is that Oshiomhole is a man who has no respect for rule of law. He has penchant for disobeying valid court judgments and orders.

“We demand his immediate resignation from the APC. Adams Oshiomhole has outlived his usefulness in the APC.

“ As a party we will not honour that purported suspension. It is null and void and of no effect. Governor Rochas Okorocha remains the leader of the APC in Imo State.”

He said, “Before entering the premises of the church, the coffin began to shake, meaning the person was alive.

“I am not sure why the man was brought to me. We were in the house of God and I’m just a pastor serving in the house of the Lord.

“ I think that they brought the person to church because they believed that God had the ability to resurrect the person.

“But still our brother was alive even before he was brought to church and we really apologize for not telling the truth to congregation and everyone in the first place.”

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has provided more information on how prayers by General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye Saved his life.

Osinbajo, speaking on Saturday at the 35th anniversary of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Holy Ghost Service, which marked Mr Adeboye’s 77th birthday anniversary revealed details of the prayers he received at the Redemption Camp from Mr Adeboye, the general overseer of the church, hours before the helicopter conveying him crashed.

DAILY POST recalls that weeks ago, the Vice President and 11 others survived in Kabba, Kogi State.

Speaking on his meeting with Adeboye, Osinbajo said, “I am Yemi Osinbajo, Pastor in charge of Lagos Province 48 of RCCG, I thank God for the salvation of my soul.

“Two testimonies: The first is that on February 2nd, I came late for the Holy Ghost Service. After the service, I went to see Daddy in his office and he said he wanted to pray for me. My wife, Dolly, and I knelt down as he prayed, ‘Father, I want you to give special protection to your son.’

“He prayed that three times and stopped. Then he prayed it again.I was getting worried about why he had to pray that way. But anyway, later that day the helicopter I was travelling in crashed in Kabba. All 12 of us in the helicopter survived without a scratch. I want to bless the name of the Lord for that.

On his Second term victory as Buhari’s Vice President, Osinbajo attributed his victory to God’s doing and no other force.

“My second testimony is that on February 23, I was re-elected with President Buhari, for a second term as Vice President and I want to praise the Lord. Praise Jesus. Who did it?
‘Jesus!”, Osinbajo added.

The victim fell down immediately and become unconscious. The two boys playing the football carried him to the school clinic, there was no equipment to handle his case there so one of the clinic attendance carried him out the school gate and started looking for keke, he got one took him to general hospital Onitsha where no treatment was given to him. They latter took him to iyi enu hospital when he has already bled to death. While all these was going on, they did not contact his father, Kanayo hospital and other private hospitals are very close to DMGS, instead of them to take him there as his case is emergency, they rushed him to general and then far away iyi enu because it’s Anglican hospital. Just like that an innocent boy that lost his mother when he was only three years, a super intelligent boy with multiple talent died because of his fellow students envy and school management carelessness.

Religion / 2019 Elections: Bishop Oyedepo Rains Curses, Reveals What Will Happen by luckynewsinfo: 4:58pm On Feb 21, 2019
Bishop David Oyedepo, founder and General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel, has broken silence on the postponed presidential election in Nigeria.

Oyedepo, while delivering a sermon, rained curses on those causing crisis and killing Nigerians ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

He pronounced ‘tribulation’ on those responsible for dragging Nigeria backward.

The Bishop, while decrying the state of the nation, said ‘Nigeria is gone’ and only surviving on prayers from the Church of Christ.

Lamenting about the postponed election, Oyedepo said: “How long do we keep going on and off, forward and backward in this country. Ordinary election we cannot manage in Nigeria.

“A country you take one step forward and 20 steps backward, a country where they kill people for sacrifice so they can win the election.

“Minus the Church of Christ praying Nigeria is gone, therefore any gang up against the settlement of Nigeria is destroyed.

“Anyone that would not let Nigeria go forward will go down for Nigeria, any agent of the devil to bring Nigeria under siege is broken.

“Nigeria is long overdue for settlement, On this day, I declare Nigeria must be supernaturally settled. You can’t tell how many people travelled to go and vote, how many had accidents due to this mistake.

“Is Nigeria not long overdue for settlement, may God recompense tribulation for those that trouble Nigerians.

“All the troublers of this nation, I evoke tribulation on your life, all those that would not let this nation go forward shall go down for this nation

“But by all means, God will give peace to Nigeria, by whatever means let this nation not see war.

“Lord, let your vengeance answer for the rescue of our nation today. Amen.

Politics / 2019 Election: Arrest Tinubu Now – HURIWA Tells Security Agencies by luckynewsinfo: 4:29pm On Feb 21, 2019
Prominent Non-Governmental Organisation, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has charged security agencies to arrest the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

The group said this while reacting to a leaked video in which Tinubu promised to offer monetary rewards to potential voters who would have voted for the incumbent president.

In a statement by HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, the group while urging Nigerians to cast their votes based on clean conscience, bearing in mind that Nigeria has become the world’s capital of poverty and also very unsafe, accused security agencies of playing double standard and behaving like APC slaves by not inviting the party chieftain for questioning.

The group said it was regrettable that a nation which has some of the most religious people is deeply entrenched in the criminal and the morally reprehensible acts of accepting bribes from rogue politicians so as to mortgage their consciences to vote for such bribe givers.

The statement partly reads, “It is sad that the institution of the law enforcement have become like armed guards of the party that produced the incumbent president by either chasing after leading political opponents of president Buhari or engaging in the illegal profiling of Igbo speaking officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) since after the botched February 16th election even when the Niece of president Buhari in INEC Mrs. Amina Zakari reportedly heads the logistics and operations committee in the electoral commission blamed for the surreptitious eleventh hour’s postponement of the long scheduled February 16th 2019 presidential and National Assembly Polls.”

The group, however, challenged electorates to consider the issues of ballooning poverty; high youth unemployment and widespread insecurity including unrelenting terrorists attacks and armed Fulani killings in the last three years as necessary factors that should govern their choices before they cast their votes given that the future of Nigeria is at stake.

Sports / Details Of How Emiliano Sala Died In Horrible Plane Crash Is Out by luckynewsinfo: 2:20am On Feb 12, 2019
Emiliano Sala died from massive injuries to his head and chest, the Daily Mail reports.

The striker, who signed for Cardiff City from Nantes, in a record £15million, could only be identified by his fingerprints, an inquest heard on Monday.

Brendan Allen, acting senior coroner for Dorset, adjourned proceedings in Bournemouth until November 6, for a pre-inquest review.

Allen told the hearing this was because an Air Accidents Investigation Branch inquiry into the tragedy, could take between six months and a year.

Details surrounding the footballer’s death emerged hours after the family of David Ibbotson, who piloted the aircraft that crashed over the English Channel, said they won’t give up hope in their fight to find the missing father.

The 59-year-old was carrying Sala from Nantes to Cardiff when the plane crashed into the sea near Alderney on January 21.

NYSC / What We Will Do To Corps Members Involved In Election Malpractice – NYSC by luckynewsinfo: 9:33am On Jan 23, 2019
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maj.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure has warned corps members to avoid any form of election malpractice as anyone caught will be prosecuted.

NAN reports that Kazaure gave the warning in Ibadan on Tuesday during his advocacy and sensitisation visit to Oyo State.

The director-general warned the corps members not to accept any form of inducement, including money from politicians, strangers and members of the public.

He advised them to always study their environment and be security-conscious, saying that corps members participating in election duties must be in their NYSC uniform.

“Your Identity cards must be on you; ensure your phones are recharged with enough airtime; be armed with pocket notes; have the phone numbers of your local government inspectors and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs).

“Peradventure there is any problem, protect yourself first and report to the nearest police station.

“The security operatives will all be deployed during the exercise. Note that participation is not compulsory for you.

“Never drag anything with anybody. You may decide not to participate because it is optional. Any corps member that violates the law having been warned, would be prosecuted.

“INEC officials will train you people and clothe you with everything needed for the elections. After the training, they will select the best among you; so be good ambassadors of the scheme, your family and Nigeria,’’ Kazaure said.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Ibadan South-East Local Government, Mr. Abimbola Omiyale, promised that the government would do its best to ensure adequate security of the corps members.

“We are all joining hands to make sure that the corps member who will work anywhere in the state, will be protected and that the election is violent-free,” he said.

Also, the Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Emiola Ambekemo, said the sensitisation was to remind the corps members that they must be law abiding.

“They are already aware of the right things to do especially in times like this. We just need to remind them that they must be law abiding as anyone who violates the rules will face the law as the director-general has said,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the corps members, Mr Ajiboye Okoye assured the director-general and the management of NYSC that the corps members would not compromise in any way.

“We have taken a resolution today to abide by the law, guidelines of INEC and be good ambassadors of the scheme,’’ he said.
