Politics / Court Lifts Ban On Obasanjo’s Autobiography, ‘My Watch’ by ludamix(m): 6:49pm On Apr 15, 2015
A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has lifted an injunction barring former President Olusegun Obasanjo from publishing his autobiography, ‘My Watch’.

Justice Valentine Ashi ordered ‎on the release of the books which had been in the custody of the Nigerian Customs Service.

The books were intercepted by the Nigerian Customs on the strength of the court injunction which was granted on December 10, 2014.

‎But Justice Valentine Ash set aside the order of injunction on Monday upon an application by Obasanjo, through his lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).

‎The court asked the customs not to collect demurrage on the books for the period they had overspent in their custody.

The court upheld Agabi’s argument that the applicant, a Peoples Democratic Party chief in Ogun State, Buruji Kashamu, who is currently pursuing a N20bn libel suit against Obasanjo in the same court, suppressed vital facts to obtain the order.

No journalist was in court when the judge lifted the injunction on Monday as the ruling was not delivered earlier on March 30, the date originally fixed for it.

New date for the ruling was said to have been later communicated to the parties.

Kashamu‎, had on December 10, 2014, obtained the injunction from the court through an ex parte application which he filed in his N20bn libel suit against Obasanjo.

Kashamu had anchored his prayer on the argument that part of the book related to the subject matter of the libel suit – a letter dated December 2, 2013 written by Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Kashamu had instituted the libel suit against Obasanjo having been dissatisfied with his being described by the former President in the letter which was widely published in the electronic and print media as a fugitive wanted for drug offences in the United States of America.

On December 8, 2014, Justice Ashi granted an ex parte application restraining Obasanjo from publishing the book pending the determination of the libel suit.

But Obasanjo went ahead to present the book to the public in Lagos, an act which the court held on December 10, 2014, as contemptuous.

Following the development the court ordered security and law enforcement agencies including ‎customs to confiscate the book anywhere it was found.

‎The judge in his ruling on Obasanjo’s application on Monday upheld Agabi’s argument that the order of injunction was wrongly made.

Agabi had maintained that the court made the order w‎ithout jurisdiction.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said, “The single ground of this application is that, in a case of libel, an interlocutory injunction does not lie to restrain publication in the face of a defendant pleading justification.

“The defendant (Obasanjo) is pleading justification. In paragraph 24 of our counter-affidavit, the defendant said his claim about the plaintiff is correct, true and justified from records available in the federal court of the United States.

He said the court had “issued without jurisdiction” adding, “The moment an interlocutory is granted, the issue is prejudiced, fair hearing is prejudiced.”

He also argued that the court could only validly bar publication in a libel suit after the case of libel was proven against the defendant.

But Kashamu’s counsel, Mr. Alex Izinyon II, urged the court to dismiss Obasanjo’s application seeking to set aside the December 10, 2014 order.

He said the order having been enforced by being served on the police, Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies, the application had lost relevance.

He told the court that Customs authority had recently requested a copy of the order when its men intercepted a container-load of the order.

The judge adjourned further proceedings in the matter till May 25.

Politics / INEC Fixes Saturday 25 April For Guber Run-off by ludamix(m): 6:38pm On Apr 15, 2015
The Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, April
25th for the run-off election between Arch.
Darius Ishaku of Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) and Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan of
All Progressives Congress(APC).
This is coming as normalcy finally returned
to Jalingo, Sunkani in Ardo Kola local
government area and Gembu, headquarters
of Sardauna Local Government Area.
The Head of Department, Enlightenment
and Publicity, Mr. Phebian Yame, who
announced the date for the election during
a briefing at the head office of the
Commission in Jalingo, said the date has
been communicated to all the parties
involved.INEC had declared the gubernatorial election in the state inconclusive and ordered based on the fact that cancelled votes in the election were more than the margin between the votes polled by Ishaku who came top in the election and Sen. Alhassan who was runner up. The margin between Darius Ishaku who polled 317,198 votes and Senator Alhassan who polled 262,386 votes was 54,812 while the canceled votes were 127,125.
In declaring the elections inconclusive, the
returning officer, Prof Kyari Mohammad
explained that the Constitution of Nigeria
and the Electoral Act stipulates that when
the difference between the total canceled
votes in an election is higher than the
margin between the first and the second
person, elections should be declared
inconclusive and a run-off should be
conducted.
The run-off election would be conducted in all the 165 polling units of Donga local
government as well as some polling units in Bali, Karim Lamido, Takum, Ussa, Wukari, Yorro and Zing.
Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to
Jalingo and other communities that
recorded incidents of electoral violence
though THISDAY gathered that the death
toll of the violent clash in Sunkani has risen to 11.

Politics / Presidential Appointments: Buhari’s Ministerial List Latest Update by ludamix(m): 5:08pm On Apr 15, 2015
Nigeria’s incoming President, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), yesterday
disclosed that his cabinet would be
announced very quickly within one week of inauguration; and that “Anyone with a whiff of corruption or any kind of taint will not be in the cabinet. Our manifesto will reflect zero tolerance for corruption”. He however pledged to put an end to fuel subsidies, adding that the oil and gas sector would be reformed as a matter of priority in order to attract new investments.
The President-Elect, who stated this while unveiling his economic policies at a Lagos Business School breakfast meeting, noted that he would run a very lean government, which would involve rationalizing overlapping and redundant ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in line with the Steve Oronsaye presidential committee report.
Buhari, who was represented at the meeting by former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, however disclosed that there would be very little action from his administration until October, partly due to the fact that Goodluck Jonathan-led administration authored the currently existing 2015 budget. Asserting that the federal government under the All Progressives Congress, APC, would seek “to align the electoral and fiscal calendars to avoid this type of problem in future,” he assured the audience that the cardinal agenda of his government and their over arching themes would be security, fighting corruption and unemployment. “We believe that corruption has a very strong negative link to both security and unemployment,” he said.
The President-Elect maintained that there would be no real action until October partly because the 2015 budget “is Jonathan’s and may be fully approved in April. A very lean government is the focus, largely in line with the Steve Oronsaye presidential committee report. This report was available to the Jonathan government, but the will to implement it was absent”. He acknowledged that the APC “is not a conclave of cardinals, as it includes the good, the bad and the ugly,” noting that in Nigeria, the bad and the ugly could be the biggest electoral assets, though the new government “will not interfere with law enforcement agencies or the judiciary even if APC members are involved in corrupt practices”. He further assured that the Vice-President- elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who did a lot of work as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State would bring his experience to revamp and strengthen the judiciary to complement the anti-corruption drive and the rule of law, adding that “He will also anchor the economic committee”.
He promised that his government would
continue with some of the programmes in the Jonathan administration, which were
successful. “For example, agriculture, though there would be a stronger collaboration between the federal and state governments,” he said.
He also revealed plans to consolidate such
anti-corruption agencies as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, into a single entity to make them more effective.
“We believe Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
is getting over-burdened by developmental
finance issues at the expense of its core
objectives; this will be changed,” he said.
According to Buhari, the subsidy on
petroleum products would certainly go and the industry would be reformed as a matter of priority in order to attract new investments, adding that “While power reform has been commendable and will continue, the approach will change”.
Buhari explained that power transmission
would be deregulated, regionalised and
privatized in order “to break down
centralized transmission, while the issues of gas supply to Gencos will be addressed.
“But the new government believes that
Discos are the biggest bottlenecks presently.
The government plans to add on 4,000MW
of power every year and expect that output will reach a minimum of 12,000 MW at the end of his tenure”.
He said the party’s groundwork showed that N3 trillion in savings could come out of plugged leakages, noting that the
employment drive would be private sector
led.
“The government will allow market forces to prevail, including in the foreign exchange regime,” he said.
The President-Elect debunked speculations
that he would use fiat to fix the foreign
exchange, adding, however, that the
government would keenly seek to protect the more economically vulnerable segments of the society.
He added that there would be a tightening of the tax noose, though there would be no tax increase.
“The Federal Internal Revenue Service
(FIRS) will be strengthened and the LASG
IGR template will be adopted at the national level,” he stated.
While acknowledging that the nation’s
infrastructure gap required huge capital
outlay, which the government does not have, Buhari pledged to develop a master plan for infrastructural development in the country.

Politics / EXPOSED! $700 Million Cash Found In Petroleum Minister’s Home, GEJ Covers Up by ludamix(m): 3:52pm On Apr 10, 2015
The type of stealing and corruption going on in the
Federal Government of Nigeria is mind boggling.
Information available to our correspondent suggests that a mind boggling sum of $700 million was allegedly found in the house of Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke.
According to information from an impeccable source, the huge sum in foreign currency was discovered recently by some security agents while conducting a search of the house of one her aides who resides in the ministers house but allegedly stole $10 million from the Minister.
Maduaeke according to source admitted to the ownership huge sum of $700 million. “she must have kept that very particular money in her aide’s apartment, because the unnamed aide is said to be one of the trusted one among others”, our source stated.
It was further gathered that when this was reported to President Goodluck Jonathan, the president felt so sad and disappointed, he immediately invited Diezani Alison Madueke to his office for questioning and rebuked her severely.
President Jonathan asked the Minister “for God sake
what are you doing with $700 million in your home?” Mrs . Madueke retorted “I am keeping the money for you”.
We gathered that President Jonathan just smiled and promptly asked her to go in peace. President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has been criticize by many Nigeria as being the most corrupt
considering the president’s stance on corruption.
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders has chided
President Goodluck Jonathan over his unwillingness to tackle corruption in the country.
According to the group, corruption is the biggest
problem the country is facing, besides the Boko Haram insurgency. CACOL’s Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran, told SUNDAY PUNCH there was an urgent need to tackle the problem. “It is a known fact that corruption is the greatest problem
confronting our country Nigeria, thus if combated
frontally, it would definitely put an end to many other challenges facing us as a people,” he said.

Romance / LADIES; Shameful Habits You Possess That Will Make Your Boyfriend Dump You by ludamix(m): 11:53am On Apr 08, 2015
The rate of sudden break up in relationships is quite
alarming due to intolerable attributes which can
make lover boys dump them in a wink without
thinking twice.
However, many that are dumped by the reason of
these habits will start running from Churches to
Mosques, Pastors to Alfas, Herbalists to Guru Maharaj
the moment that innocent dude who has promised
them marriage call it a quit
Now let's analyze these shameful habits
1. Untidiness, Laziness, And Looking Unkempt
It's very evident that some ladies can soak their
towels, underwear and clothes for days without
worrying about the smell emanating from it.
However, many of them only manage to tidy up and
arrange their rooms properly especially when they
are expecting male visitor but when you see these
same ladies on the streets or mobile network, they
look better than Beyonce on social network. I trust
the larger percentage of guys can only tolerate that.
2. Begging For Money And Recharge Card
The notion that men are made to provide for them
turned many ladies into developing gold digging
habits. Some beg for recharge card, mobile phones
and all sort of perishable parameters from every
Tom, Dick and Harry. When the boyfriends cannot
cope with that disgusting habit and dump them, they will keep saying most men don't appreciate good ladies.
3. Double Dating
There's only a slight difference between some so
called girlfriend and prostitutes. However, many of
them are so covetous that they keep many species of guys for financial assistance despite the fact that the innocent dude is everything his best to ensure she's satisfied yet still keeps many magas under the cloak of not keeping all her eggs in one basket.
4. Lack of Vision, Goal and Objectives In Life
An average Nigerian lady wants to get married to a
man living in a mansion with so many cars and maids but the question is, what will be her own contribution?
Many of them are so dumb that If you give them a
million naira, the next thing they think of is fixing of
eyes lashes, Brazilian hair which costs about
N120,000, buy bleaching and toning cream which
costs about N 20,000 or more, buying of Iphone6:
N180,000 so as to make other ladies see them as
fashionable ladies, Instead of investing into
something that will add value to their resume and
personal life.
5. Low Sense Of Reasoning
Some ladies are so dumb that they can barely give
meaningful contribution to practical issues. All they
think of is how to get married and place financial
burden on their husbands.
6. Bad cooks
Some ladies are bad cook but the most annoying
thing is that they are not ready to learn. Helping their mothers in the kitchen is a difficult task for them. They can't prepare common noodles let alone eba. This is a turn off for many guys.
