PrettyCrystal: This is really shameful. Police officers had to be called in to settle a crisis which rocked the Celestial Church of Christ, Staten-Island Parish, in New-York City. It was gathered that the members who are mainly Nigerians (judging from their Yoruba dialect), engaged themselves in a heated quarrel between two factions as the chaos was too much that the police officers had to wade in.
Even when the police stepped into the church to restore peace, one of the female church members told an officer, "you're not supposed to come to the church with your sandal"as other church members hushed her down.
In the video footage posted online, one of the church members can be heard saying 'those people are coming back, they embezzled money and do sexual harassment in this church'.
The church members were told to vacate the church premises so it could be locked down.

Abigail47: Go and study your bible very well my brother.you are being very insensitive,y can't you go and meet the people that have lost their family members to the brutal herdmen killings and tell them to pray for their enemies. You don't know the amount of pain that they are in so go and study the context and the scripture where Jesus said you should pray for your enemies before you come and write here. I sympathetic about the whole thing, I will rather do what christ says whether it is out of context or not, whether it is convenient or not, whether it makes me and others feel good or not. Bro imagine what Jesus will do in any situation not what Moses, Abraham or David will do. Thanks |

There is a huge difference between what the Lord Jesus asks us to do and what we hear on daily basis from our MOG. As Christians, Jesus is our only and perfect example to emulate, not Moses, Elijah or even Samson |

pafo: I always found Oyedepo’s messages a little over the top. Defending yourself means sometimes hurting the other party which is very unchristian-like. You do not meet force with force; rather, you put pressure on the authorities to look for a lasting solution and peace and not telling christians to pick up arms and defend themselves.
Don't get me wrong, In real life, you try to hurt me; I will hurt you bad, but there is just no place for violence in any form within christianity and a supposed "man of God" should refrain from preaching such.
I stand with Femi Odu on this. I'm happy to have read your comment, people like you are uncommon. HATRED has overtaken rational thinking. God help us |

Values in our society have shifted away from honesty, hardwork, patience etc to "money-mongers" in the our places of worship. What youth hear everywhere they go is all about money, how to make wealth, even Sunday sermons mostly centered on MONEY,thats why young people go to any length to seek money. Let teach our young ones how to make money in a honest way with patience putting others welfare in to consideration |

fabinfos: Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Muhammadu Buhari government of allegedly shortchanging the state government in the Paris Club refunds to the tune of $20million.
The party alleged that this was to weaken the Ayo Fayose administration and portray it in bad light to the advantage of APC governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi.
PDP, in a statement by Publicity Secretary, Jackson Adebayo, said going by documents from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Federal Ministry of Finance, Ekiti State was due to get $69million as the remaining part of the refunds, but had been reduced to $49million.
“We have it on good authority that the $20 million removed would be part of the funds to be used by the APC and Fayemi for the coming July 14 governorship election in the state.
“One wonders why the discrepancy in the figures. The consultant employed by the NGF came out with the initial figure and for no reason, the new figure we are hearing is being touted as the dues of the state,” he said.
Adebayo said that due to the fear that the expected donors to the campaign fund of Fayemi might not be forthcoming, the federal government had surreptitiously mutilated the documents bearing the exact figures due to the state and diverted the campaign funds in an attempt to foist Fayemi on Ekiti State.
“This is the reason behind the statement made by Fayemi that he would make use of logistics to win the governorship election come 14th July”, he added.
“The permutation in the Presidency is that if the Paris Club refunds get to Ekiti State before the election, it will be used to settle arrears of salary owed workers which will eventually be an added advantage for the PDP to actualise landslide victory as it recorded in 2014 when Fayemi was defeated in all the 16 local government areas of the state.
“It’s just unfortunate that the APC-led federal government could descend to this wicked antics against the workers of Ekiti State just because of an election which would eventually be lost by the APC candidate.
“We advise the Federal government to have a rethink on this draconian step because it’s retrogressive and it will not only be counter-productive but adds to the indices of bad governance which Nigerian are familiar with in the APC government since its inauguration both at the center and some states where the party hold sway.”

HigherEd: Be sensible. Oyedepo simply made a statement based on a report he got just as many other Nigerians did. Knowing the antecedents of the Nigerian govt it is not surprising that a govt which allowed Arabic inscriptions on the Nigerian currency that more than 70% of the population could not read would make moves to test police candidates in Arabic. If anything, CAN and Oyedepo's quick response has made it perfectly clear to whoever is even thinking of doing such in the future that there would be sharp responses if any attempt is made to introduce Arabic beyond the level it has already been illicitly introduced.
There is nothing wrong in CAN/Oyedepo making mere allegations based on feedbacks they got. Afterall it is not as though they were threatning violence if govt didnt agree to their demands. It is however the responsibility of JAMB/Police to come out and clarify on whatever allegations that had been made in any quarters. |

phemmyutd: The youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria has commended JAMB for successfully conducting Police recruitment exercise - The group said JAMB deserves commendation rather than condemnation - According to YOWICAN, fact-finding mission on the exercise revealed JAMB fairness and transparency The youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has said that the allegation against the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) compelling candidates to write Arabic subject in the police recruitment exercise is untrue. YOWICAN rather said the examination body deserves “commendations not condemnation” for carrying out the recruitment exercise effectively, Premium Times reports. In a statement released on Monday, June 11, Daniel Kadazai, the president of YOWICAN said a fact-finding mission by the association to know the truth regarding the inclusion of Arabic from JAMB revealed fairness and transparency during the exercise.
"In as much as we came with complaints, as Christians whose Bible teaches love and truth, we must equally promote love for one another and also say things the way we see them. I know a lot of people will antagonise this statement but this is the truth." He also urged the JAMB's the registrar to use his influence as a strategic personality to help address government policies and appointments that seem to favour one side of the religion in Nigeria. “Most of the directors in JAMB are Christians, some are also deacons in their respective churches and they told us in confidence that they set the examination.
“Irrespective of what has been written before, we are writing this to address the public especially the Christians that we have gone there, investigated and the allegations are not true. Even when you see the results, there is no Arabic there," Kadazai said. But in his reaction, the spokesperson for CAN, Adebayo Oladeji, said the association was not satisfied with JAMB’s explanation on the matter. He said the association rejects the alleged introduction of Arabic in the exercise. Also speaking, the JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede said the whole scenario was misinterpreted. “I am disturbed that Nigeria has degenerated to a level where we don’t trust each other anymore even amongst religious leaders, no candidate was instructed or made to forcibly attempt any questions in Arabic,” Oloyede said. He said the questions in contention were not part of the exam but were simply included as ‘dummies.’ PAY ATTENTION: Install our latest app for Android, read best news on Nigeria’s #1 news app Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Christian association had called for the cancellation of the aptitude test which was organised by JAMB. CAN said such move is a violation of the Constitution and the secular nature of the country, to mandate both Christians and Muslims to answer questions in Arabic language. The association said alleged incident is another dirty slap on the 1999 Constitution and a deliberate attempt to undermine Christians. NOETHNICITY: If this is true, then I commend CAN youth wing for having the courage to put the record straight.
A lot of pastors, including Oyedepo, mounted their pulpit and ignorantly further incited their already gullible followers against the government and muslims, spilling the stale Islamization narrative. Unfortunately, millions of their followers bought into this false narrative, thereby carrying inside their heads the odious belief of an islamization agenda by muslims. ... My thoughts also. When I listen to Oyedepo and others accusations, it saddens my heart how a man of God presume and assume everything without digging for the truth before sharing such with the congregation and raising tensions unnecessarily.
