SportsConfederation Cup: Japan Vs Mexico (1 - 2) On 22nd June 2013 by luvablesam(op): 12:51pm On Jun 16, 2013
There will be nothing but pride on the line when Mexico and Japan meet in Belo Horizonte tomorrow night.

With not a single point between them in Group A, both sides have had a disappointing time in Brazil, unable to overcome either the hosts or Italy in their previous two matches.

Japan perhaps have the most reason to be frustrated after a fine performance brought no reward in a 4-3 defeat to the Azzurri last time out.

Mexico meanwhile have fallen short of expectations so far, and that has brought pressure on coach Jose Manuel de la Torre.

A win against Japan would be the easiest way to answer those critics, but he is adamant tomorrow's result will have no bearing on his future.

``Whatever the result against Japan, it won't lose me the support of my players or my bosses [at the Mexican FA],'' he said on FIFA.com.

``For the sake of our pride, we really want to win this game. We don't want to bow out without any points, particularly since our aims [for this competition] had been so different.''

They may take encouragement from Japan's leaky defence, which has conceded seven times in two outings to leave them bottom of the group on goal difference going into the match.

Day one was class all d way. The opening could be best described as fantastic though short, it showed what fans should expect in the world cup proper. Brazil kicked off proceedings two hours later against. Japan. ,Neymar scored a wonder goal as they beat Japan 3 to Nil.

Would we see such a scoreline when Spain faces Uruguay today?,let's keep our fingers crossed

Brazil are Confederations Cup favorites, says Zaccheroni

Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni said Friday Brazil deserved to be favorites to win the Confederations Cup for a record fourth time.

Zaccheroni's side will meet the host nation in the opening match of the tournament in the capital Brasilia on Saturday.

Despite conceding his team will be underdogs, the Italian manager challenged his players not to be overawed by an expected 70,000 partisan fans at the Mane Garrincha stadium.

"Brazil have won this tournaments the past two times and are at home so they are favourites," Zaccheroni said on Friday.

"But we have to remember that top level athletes always look to get the best out of themselves. We are here to make the most of this chance. I hope we can play to our strengths and impose ourselves on the match by taking the initiative. We respect our opponents but no team will enter the match with an advantage over the other."

CONFED TIT BITS

Balotelli in Confederations Cup injury scare

-- Mario Balotelli could miss Italy's opening match of the Confederations Cup against Mexico on Sunday after suffering a thigh injury while training on Friday.

Italy team doctor Enrico Castellacci said medical staff would carefully monitor the 22-year-old on Saturday before making a decision on his fitness.

"He felt pain and was taken off. I think he will be able to play but we can't make any guarantees because the players have not had a break after a long and arduous season," Castellacci said.

Balotelli's absence would leave Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli needing to decide between Stephan El Shaarawy, Alberto Gilardino, Sebastian Giovincoand Alessio Cerci as the AC Milan striker's replacement.

"Mario is our principal striker and is feared by our rivals but we also have other forwards who are able to contribute," Italy defender Andrea Barzagli said in a press conference on Friday.

Both Italy and Mexico will train at the Maracana stadium on Saturday afternoon. Organizers said Friday night that Sunday's match had already sold more than 60,000 tickets.

damoobaba: Mr Empty Brain,he did nt refer 2 any tribe.I feel u are the tribalist here, the goverment of those states came up with those ideas based on certain reasons(you may decide 2 check the mentioned states' ministry of education websites) and 1 of the staes even said that d initiative would save the state billions of Naira frm purshasing textbooks.I jst hate exchanging word with slowreasoners like u.u don't see any gud in other people's actions.
no comment Mr fast reasoner,I just pity ur almamata(dats if u eva went to school)cos they taught u nothing

Gbawe: Look, I have no argument with you. You say you are a concerned Nigerian and I agree because that makes you my fellow citizen. My point is that your arguments make no sense because you don't seem to account for the fact that Lagos is a true mega-city in every sense of the word.

Nothing in Africa is near to challenging it's unique potentials if the State is optimally developed.
interesting,no one is saying Lag isn't a true Mega City or watever, if u think my arguments are senseless then I think urs are no better cos u are failing to see my point which is that most of those properties(if ever completed)wud neVa be really occupied simply because its d same people that wud av bought
them
PoliticsRe: First Building On Eko Atlantic City Ready In 24 Months by luvablesam(m): 8:27am On Jun 13, 2013
Gbawe: Pessimism and criticism need to be sensible and logical ... not just uttered for it's sake alone. You see an article that reveals phase one of this project is is already almost sold out off-plan and 2 years before even the first building is ready and you are talking of "Ghost City"?

Lagos is no different to London, New York and many other mega Cities of the world in that real Estate rules are very different to the norm because these Cities are concentration of extraordinary activities that affect so many people throughout the world. Eko Atlantic is actually fanning into what Lagos must be not what it wants to be.
maitama has been sold out since the 90's but its still a ghost town. How many people can afford d accomodation?if my argument isn't logical then its a pity!
