The elimination stage is scheduled to begin on the 23rd and 24th of January, strictly Saturdays and Sundays are the days picked for the debate.

Good evening and welcome to 2016

As the topic of the thread indicates, this is to recognize the debaters from the best of the best of NISD 3rd edition, first stage, who had the highest personal scores for their essays.

From the fourth position, the list is going to be done in a descending order and most importantly, according to the scores collated by their officiating Judges.

So here goes,

Taking the fourth spot, we had a tie from Lagos State University - Eduntee and the University of Lagos - LARRYDKING with a total score of 37 each.

You both did beautifully well Sirs, and your efforts, well appreciated, Congratulations!

And taking the third spot with a total score of 37.5, we have Sammyscholar from Ibadan Polythenic.

Congratulations Sir

And now unto the second spot, who's got this?

Join me, as I also make welcome, from Obafemi Awolowo University - OAUTemitayo having a total score of 39 and oh yes, we also got a tie right here, joining OAUTemitayo for the second spot is Menzo4u from Yaba College of Technology also having a total score of 39.

Congratulations Sirs.

And now to the last man standing for the first spot,

and with a total score of 42.5, a 3.5 variance from the second position, we have,

The school with the slogan - “naturally ahead of you”.

Good evening everyone,

We have successfully come to the end of this first stage of the competition, Congratulations to all team that participated and qualified.

However, we will not fail to acknowledge everyone that made this event - the first stage of the 3rd edition of NISD, a reality and also brief the house on What-Is-Next. So,

1. Our appreciation goes first to the coordinators, judges, and participants. To the coordinators and judges - a charge to do more and to the participants - a charge to put more effort. We will not also fail to recognise the cooperation of Seun and Lalasticlala all through the event, thank you very much Sirs.

2. The major logic behind the essay submission was to test the commitment of all participants, co-ordinators and our newly nominated judges and we are glad that after all said and done, we have gotten our final squad for the commencement of the debate.

3. We also believe that during this stage, each participant has in one way or the other learnt a thing or two to serve as pointers for their success in the elimination stage.

4. Dates and time with topics for the next stage is yet to be decided upon and when the time comes to, it will be done on this thread - the Debate Chatroom thread, carrying along every participant to prevent unavoidably absenteeism.

5. On the 16 INTELLECTUAL GIANTS, we have them all selected and the fixtures for the competition will be in this form - the first from one team taking on the runner-up from another team and so the pairing continues. We also want to at this point, delightfully inform all participant from the first stage that - they will all be featuring in the next stage of this competition, (see link) https://www.nairaland.com/2811855/nairaland-interschool-debate-third-edition , A Hearty Congratulations to that and oh! I can see the excitement in the air already and am also elated that all of your efforts were not in vain. However, we still got one slot to fill and this will be decided between TEAM DELSU (Epaul) and TEAM AAUA (Shynaboy1) on the 31st of December, 2015. Whoever wins the contest, automatically gets the slot to complete the 16 Intellectuals.

6. And to all qualified team, we beseech you to:

i) be in touch with your respective team members, even if it means having their mobile contacts to avoid a repeat of having just one representative in the next stage, do so because as we proceed, we will no longer welcome sole representatives.

ii) get your essays ready before and on time, properly aligned and proofread.

iii) and most importantly, work more on rebuttals, as that will be the fulcrum for any team qualification into the next stage.

And in conclusion, you will agree with me that we have been through fights, disagreements and lapses during the first stage of this competition, I want to use this medium to appeal to everyone to take it all in good faith bearing no grudge against the other, all these were part of the debate and it should be taken as life's lessons propelling us, improving us to do/be better.

So at this point I say, do have a pleasant night rest knowing that we are open to your suggestions as well.

I'll be travelling but that would be within the state. I intend to tour many towns and villages were the xmas' madness is hidden.
