Yemi Alade has been active and quiet at the same time. Following the buzz that followed her purported Grammy Awards special guest invitation and her conspicuous absence at the awards proper last month, much has not been heard from her. But in a bid to promote her new music effort, the Johnny singer got caught in the web of cyber trolls who didn’t find her grammar funny at all. This happened just after the star had shared recharge cards to her fans on Twitter.
The real drama began when one of her twitter followers saw something wrong with the English expression she used for her announcement and corrected her. Yemi had tweeted: “Am dropping a new single oooooo” . Check out the fan’s response:
Interestingly, Yemi didn’t go the Timaya or Seyi Law way. Rather she simply asked the ‘grammarian’ follower to help her the missing part of her expression. Case closed! Classic.
From the tweet, it would seem the first fan meant to correct her without hurting her feelings, while the second follower had concerns about other followers, particularly children, thinking her expression was the standard. But you think the either correction was necessary? Aren’t celebrities allowed to make mistakes in their space?

The fight between Oritsefemi’s Ex manager Danku and his former artiste, Rayce is getting messier by the day.
In case you missed it, the ongoing feud started after Rayce, real name Kingsley Irase, reportedly quit Danku’s management company for a new label, Jebon Records, without making public what caused the end of their relationship.
Soon after, nasty DMs between Danku and the boss of Jebon records were leaked online, Danku accusing Rayce of impregnating a certain call girl and the boss of Jebon Records returning the favour.
Well, yesterday the beef took another turn.
Taking to his Instagram page, Danku stripped to his underpants to issue out a warning to both Rayce and Jebon Records. He also revealed that he welcomed his first child, a baby girl, this morning but couldn’t share her picture online because of the ‘evil fake news going around about him.’

The latest smartphone from Samsung is expected to be unveiled later today.
The firm will launch the Galaxy S8 at events in New York and London, according to reports.
Industry insiders say it will come in two sizes and will feature a larger screen.
Samsung will be hoping the S8 performs well after the company was forced to withdraw the Note 7 because of battery problems.
Note 7s were made subject to a global recall in October after the phones were found to set themselves alight.
The Note 7 issues are said to have cost Samsung more than £3bn.
The firm will sell refurbished versions of the Note 7 with a new battery in South Korea only, the country's Electronic Times reported on Tuesday.

In line with its resolve to achieve a rate convergence, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday lowered the rate at which dollar inflows from International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs) are sold to Bureau De Change (BDC) operators to N360/$1, from N381/$1.
With this directive, BDCs are now expected to sell the greenback to retail end-users at not more than N362/$1, lower than N400/$1 it was sold in this segment of the market.
This emerged barely 24 hours after the central bank directed commercial banks in the country to sell FX obtained from it to retail end-users at not more than N360/$1 for invisibles.

Nigeria is on a red alert as the current epidemic of meningitis that started in December 2016 has killed no fewer than 211 Nigerians and affected 1,407, Guardian reports.
The World Health Organisation (WHO), yesterday, in a publication on its website on “Meningococcal disease – Nigeria: Disease outbreak news” noted that a case fatality rate of 15 per cent has been reported from 40 local government areas (LGAs) in five states of Nigeria since December 2016.
According to the apex United Nations (UN) health agency, Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto account for 89 per cent of these cases.
The WHO added that the most affected age group is five to 14 years old and they are responsible for about half of reported cases. Both sexes are almost equally affected.

A reliable source has disclosed that candidates now have the opportunity to choose two public universities during registration. This is contrary to the earlier information that 2017 UTME candidates can only choose 1 public University and 1 private university during the registration..
We believe that the instruction earlier given by JAMB that candidates should choose only one public university was only an advise to candidates due to the fact that in many cases candidates who choose public universities as 1st and 2nd choice end up not even considered for admission by their 2nd choice universities due to the high competition in the universities they selected.
So candidates who wish to select two public universities as 1st and 2nd choice can go ahead an do so. However, the list of Public Universities you can select is VERY LIMITED. Most of the popular Universities will not even be listed, while selecting for 2nd choice. We therefore advise such candidates to ensure they select public universities that are less competitive as their 2nd choice options in order to stand a chance of being considered for admission.
So to further ensure that you make the right choice, we have provided the names of the universities that are less competitive, as earlier announced by JAMB during the 2016 Registration process. We believe this will be similar to what can be obtained as 2nd choice selection for this 2017 Registration.
The list contains Federal, State and Private universities that are less competitive. So if you wish to pick a public university as a 2nd choice, please ensure it is one of the ones on this list or any other one you know that is less competitive.
TIP: You can have 2 or 3 options as a priority list, in case you don't find one during your selection, you can take the next option.
There is no official list released by JAMB this 2017 as Universities you can choose as 2nd choice, so you'll have to make use of the attached list.

Daniel Ebem was killed on Sunday, 12th of March 2017, while visiting his family house in Nneogidi, Agulu. The deceased had accompanied a friend to a thanksgiving service at St. Stephens Anglican Church, Agulu and decided to branched at his family house.
He was said to have been confronted and butchered to death by his nephew, Chigboo, who accused him of not being of help to him. It was gathered that the murderer is mentally unstable and has been arrested.

A group of New York-based journalists operating under the umbrella of Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has called for the immediately and unconditionally release of blogger, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo and newspaper publisher, Samuel Welson.

In a statement signed and issued on Friday by CPJ West Africa representative, Peter Nkanga, the group urged the police to release the duo, and to cease prosecuting journalists on charges of defamation or publishing false news.

It can be recalled that Kemi Olunloyo, a controversial US trained journalist announced that she was arrested in Ibadan and driven more than 600 kilometers to Port Harcourt Prison for allegedly defaming the General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie.

Nkanga noted that the controversial Instagram post that was published on Olunloyo’s handle and on Samuel Welson’s daily regional tabloid had already been withdrawn from further public circulation.

He also said that there was documentary evidence to show that when Olunloyo published the letter, she indicated that neither Pastor David Ibiyeomie nor actress Iyabo Ojo responded to her request for comment.

In condemning the continued detention of the two journalists in maximum security prison in Port-Harcourt, Nkanga said that defamation allegations should remain civil matter and not treated like a criminal offence that would warrant detention in prison.

A 61-year-old landlord, Toafeek Hassan, was, yesterday, arrested with fresh human head and other body parts of a lady he was alleged to have murdered, at Ikoga community in Badagry area of Lagos, Sunday.
It was gathered that the deceased, a yet-to-be identified lady, approached Hassan, a cleric, for spiritual cleansing in Sango Otta, due to some challenges she was facing. He was on his way to hand over the needed body parts to a cleric, when he was accosted by curious people, as the bag was dripping blood. .
When they forcefully took the bag from him, a female head, two wrists and a heart spilled out. They raised alarm, which alerted other residents. But for the prompt intervention of policemen from Area ‘K’ Command, Badagry, Hassan would have been lynched by a mob, who tied his hands, legs and was dragging him on the ground.
On interrogation before police arrived, Hassan disclosed that it was his second time of killing clients for the unnamed cleric for ritual purpose. According to him, “she was not my direct client. A herbalist, Baba Ronke, brought her to me on Sunday. .
One Alfa from Sango-Otta took her to him. He said that the woman was looking for spiritual solution. The Alfa from Otta uses human beings for rituals. He deceived the woman to Badagry, saying he was bringing her to a senior colleague, who would perform some cleansing by the river side on her.
Immediately they dropped the woman by the riverside they left, with a promise to wait for her at the bus stop. While she was waiting, I came and did my part of the job. She said she was from Ojodu Berger. I felt pity for her, but I could not help the situation.
I was on my way to deliver the needed parts to the Alfa at Sango-Otta when I was arrested. This is my second time of working for Baba Ronke and Alfa.”

The Nigerian naira appreciated to 435 per dollar on Monday, as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) pumped a total of $180 million into the foreign exchange market.
Vanguard reports that the parallel market exchange rate, which declined to N445 per dollar last week, further dropped to N435 per dollar at the close of business, yesterday, translating to 3.4 per cent appreciation of the naira.
The naira appreciation is being driven by decline in demand for dollars occasioned by increase dollar supply by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) .
