I was surprise when my friend told me that standard chartered charges 23% interest on loan,with 3% flat rate.My instinct tells me that this back is really cheating her customers.I heard over the radio that CBN direct all banks to charge 12% on loan,does this directive affect existing loans.

Schwarzenegger’s former Deputy Chief of Staff, Rob Stutzman, who represents the carmaker’s opposition. “They picked a powerful author. They clearly lobbied the governor’s administration as well.”

With the bill now law, California joins Nevada as the only two states in the union that permit road testing of Google’s self-driving car effort. Specifically, it requires the DMV to draft rules to authorize public testing of the cars and expand the definition of a car “operator” to the person who “causes the autonomous technology to engage.”

In Google’s defense, cars take an enormous economic, financial, and human toll on humanity. “The vast majority of traffic fatalities and injuries are caused by human error,” said mechanical engineer and State Senator Alex Padilla, who sponsored the bill. “Can we utilize and incorporate state-of-the-art technology to make our vehicles and therefore our roads and society safer?”

Google boasts the safety track record to back up its ambitious aims: after 300,000 miles in testing, the only incidents have been human errors.

Numerous other concerns, including privacy, additional testing, and liability logistics, had all been resolved by the time they reached the Assembly Transportation Committee in late June. The California Highway Patrol, who was apparently expected to voice concerns, was MIA. “They’ve been silenced by the governor’s office,” Posner said.

The Bay Citizen notes that Google spent about $144K on lobbying efforts, and gave 89K to California campaigns. Though, Google has a number of interests, and linking those dollars to this particular issue, when it could have been simple fascination with robotic cars, is dubious.

“The benefits of this could be enormous,” gushed Posner, in conclusion, “but if you don’t do this right, there could be some horrific accidents.”

I made online transaction yesterday,i was surprise that GTBank still charges N5 COT per N1000 despite the fact that CBN has directed all banks to reduce it to N3.What can I do.

allwestafrican: After years of groaning by banks' customers over arbitrary charges on cost of transactions (COT), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has concluded plans to peg the transaction cost at N3 for every N1,000 transacted.

Part of the clause is that the new COT regime will be a flexible one that must not exceed 3 per cent. Sources at the Central Bank said customers can negotiate COT charges between zero and 3 per cent, so that what customers will pay depends upon their negotiating power.

Before now, transaction cost was officially N5 for every N1,000 transacted. This means that, officially, the Central Bank will effectively reduce cost by 40 per cent for banks' customers. But the snag before now was that banks never adhered to the formerly stipulated N5 for every N1,000 transacted.
Most of the banks contacted could only agree that they had been compliant with the N5 for every N1,000 transacted. But most customers said they had not been aware of what had been charged them as COT.

Amid fears over the willingness of banks to comply with the proposed transaction cost, analysts said it would be great relief to bank customers who had been taken to the cleaners by banks, mostly because of their ignorance.

Central Bank spokesman Ugochukwu Okorafor said the policy will not discourage the cashless policy because of lower cost of transacting business, adding that infrastructure were being built to encourage the cashless policy.

Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer of Financial Derivatives Company (FDC) Limited, told LEADERSHIP in a telephone interview that the move by the apex bank was a good development. In some developed climes, he said, there is nothing like COT and the banks still survive.
