Foreign Affairs › Re: 9 Countries In The World That Have Nuclear Weapons (Full List) by LZAA: 12:48am On Jan 15
brain54:
South Africa also had nukes...

The only country in Africa that had some under the apartied regime... but were destroyed a few years before Mandela's ANC party government was handed power.

Also Ukraine inherited a significant portion of the old Soviet nukes. But handed them over to Russia and signed the nuclear non proliferation treaty.

So there... that completes your list op!
You do realise that Ukraine was under the soviet union wink

Politics › Re: It Took Me Over 7 Years To Make My First ₦1 Million – Nollywood Actor Eso Dike by LZAA: 8:38am On Jan 14
SultanYoung:
Like I said before now NOLLYWOOD is the most wicked industry on earth.

genuinely dislike the Nigerian entertainment industry with every fiber of my being.

There is little to no love in that space—only clout and cold calculations. Take Funke Akindele for example. This is someone whose movies have publicly recorded box-office earnings running into hundreds of millions of naira in a single year. That is not speculation; Nigerian box-office data and cinema records confirm it.

Now tell me: if someone who makes ₦500 million+ from just one movie cannot spare ₦20 million to support a colleague in distress—even if they are not on speaking terms—what does that say about us as an industry?

₦20 million is less than 5% of ₦500 million. In any serious society, that kind of gesture would be seen as basic humanity, not charity. It would send a powerful message that human life matters more than ego, beef, or brand image.

But here, success is celebrated loudly, while compassion is rationed carefully. That is the verifiable truth, and that is why many of us are tired of pretending this industry is built on love.
Na una dey believe all those false figures grin
500 million indeed
How many cinemas?

Big accolades to the likes of Egypt, Zambia and South Africa and for keeping it 100% home born and bred
While there is nothing wrong with this statement
You have to recognize the fact that Egypt and RSA pay European league type of wages hence their players hardly leave their lands coupled with the fact that they are two of the most vibrant economies in the continent
Zambia being close to SA also benefit from such policies

Politics › Re: 2027: Rivers LP Collapses Structure Into ADC, Vows Massive Support For Obi by LZAA: 6:39am On Jan 13
Cherrybae:
Is Labour Party no longer a party. It is normal for a party to collapse its structure for another party.

Be sincere to yourself, obi will not win any state in the SS nor secure huge vote.

Rivers state is no go area for obi. Again obi will not secure the ADC ticket and Atiku won't pick him as VP
Rivers is no go area for Obi?
Obi will not win ADC Ticket?
Atiku will not pick him as VP?
God forbid i ever sell my integrity for 20k and end up contradicting myself for crumbs grin
Politics › Re: 2027 Presidency: Dele Momodu Reacts As Fayose Asks ADC To Field Peter Obi by LZAA: 6:34am On Jan 13
emkz:
It is foolhardy for anyone to expect Atiku to step down for Peter Obi.

Why exactly should Atiku do that?

Between Atiku and Obi, who has more experience to run a country?

They say a third-placed candidate should be elevated over a second-placed candidate.

See, Obi rode on the church wave in 2022-2023. After the elections, when has he attended church events?

Those saying Obi can defeat Tinubu before 9am are demonstrating the same way they underrated him in 2023 and handed him the presidency.

Let Obi deputize Atiku and come to an agreement to run in 2031, for El Rufai to deputize him. A Peter Obi would be a hard sell in the north for now.

Culture › Re: Massive Bride Price Items Worth Millions Of Naira In Enugu by LZAA: 6:49am On Jan 12
pocohantas:
This is not bride price payment and I am surprised no Igbo person could correctly address this MISINFORMATION. Including the mod who most likely moved it to FP.

What you have in those pictures is called IKPA NRI. Done by a subset of Enugu state. It is not even all of them that do it.

IKPA NRI is a gift from the groom to the bride, and for him to gift her such, he must have considered her deserving of it. Though asides for picture purposes, I see no reason to buy heavy containers of same cream and all. Would she exhaust them before expiration, or she would dash out to friends?

It is also different from IDU ULO.
IDU ULO is a gift from the bride's family to help her start marital life. Typically kitchen items, baby things and extras. Depending on the financial capacity of her family.

IKPA NRI doesn't contain pots and mortar because it is for the bride's beautification.
That's the main reason i kept quiet
The people making noise about this are the ones who can't do without igbo wife. grin

TV/Movies › Re: LG Electronics Nigeria Issues Consumer Alert On Counterfeit TVs by LZAA: 9:31pm On Jan 10
Putindbutt:
No worry yourself, LG is a big brand with financial power, they will deal with them.

These same callous people rendered many movie producers, movie and music artistes poor and homeless by pirating their hard work. Some of them died without recovering from it. After months of hard work, you go around all TV stations for media tour to market and promote your movie or album. While you're at it, you would see the pirated CDs hanging on the shelves everywhere by the roadside and these wicked people already selling the pirated copies and making money while you you're left to struggle to payback the loans you borrowed for the production.

It was the arrival of digital platforms like YouTube, Netflix & co that rescued the career of Nigerian artistes from being wrecked by these people.

And these people are the biggest critics of Government, they keep shouting and pretending they love Nigeria more than others, saying a new Nigeria is POOsible. Meanwhile they are more evil than the devil himself.

Imagine these ones in power, they will use federal power to protect their Mafia businesses. And if a whistleblower raises an alarm, they will use DSS to lock him/her in underground cell and finish him there. Nigeria indeed dodged a bullet.
The same people you are accusing ACTUALLY built Nollywood from the VHS era and gave you:
Genevieve
Omotola
Ramsey Noah
RMD
Aki and Paw Paw
Chinwetalu Agu
Nkem Owoh
They also helped music artists and comedians as well

eslek5:
You only simply hate wike. And you don't have to like him. That's the truth. Tinubu understand all the details and as the grand godfather of politics in Nigeria of today He will never prefer an untried, untrusted Fubara with an established, confirmed, loyal politician like Wike. Let's stop all the sentiments.

Lesson for all of us: If you because of desperation for power and fame go into agreement with characters you do not plan to be loyal to, then expect no peace.

Honestly, why can't Fubara resign if he is a man of integrity at all. They campaigned for you, did dirty jobs for you and you get to the post and think they won't place demands on their investments? He should resign or else, Fubara is a worse character than Wike. Let's stop all the sentiments pls.
