Thank you everybody for the advice . I really appreciate . my father in law called me this morning he was very apologetic about what happened without his knowledge he was aware that only my wife immediate younger sister who was coming for 5 days but he wasn’t aware of his other 3 children , he said he was very sorry as a responsible father he could never add the burden of his children on me , when he is fully aware that my wife had a cs 2 months ago and I have had spent a lot of money on the hospital bills and after care , he knows after all the expenses that i don’t have any money right right now and there is no way he could’ve send all of them and he said if I can allow them to spend Christmas with us then I can return all of them back to him on Monday . I am very grateful to have a very understanding father in law . The problem has been resolved . Thanks once again

First ask yourself , who is the Lord speaking to there? Is the Jews or the Gentiles? Of course He is speaking to the Jews. Secondly read from verse 19 to get the whole context. You can also cf with Luke 12:22-31. Now can this apply to Christians? Yes in every way because the passage is talking about materialism versus the righteousness of God which is Jesus Christ. I believe I didn’t clarify things well. What I meant is that gain is not godliness. You see that in 1 Tim 6:3-7. There is nothing wrong with having money. I have money too. After all the Bible commands in 2 Thess 3:10 "that if any would not work, neither should he eat". My point is that in the Old Testament, to prosper physically means that you’re right with God. But for Christians, we prosper spiritually. Prospering spiritually means you’re right with God, though people might not see it. Coming back to that persecution, don’t you know that when you’re struggling with sin and denying your flesh from pleasures of this life, that your flesh will keep persecuting you? You’ll be in a conflict. The world will hate you just because you’re trying to love the Lord. People will make fun of you and call you born again or something else. Don’t you know all these is actually persecution. I mean Jesus asked His disciples over there in the book of John that "how come He has enemies and they don’t"? Ecc 1:18 says "more wisdom more grief, more knowledge more sorrows". You know why? When you’re filled with the wisdom and knowledge from God, you will live a sanctified separated life. You wont go to places you normally go to. You wont hang out with friends you normally hang out with. If sars harass you on the road when you do nothing wrong, then take one for the team (the body of Christ). See 1 Peter 4:12-16 for the Christian’s response to suffering.

This is why I said it is of great importance to rightly divide the Bible. The apostle Peter is the apostle to the circumcision (Jews) while the apostle Paul is the apostle to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:8 ) . Secondly , Rev 5 - 19 is dealing with the tribulation timeline, which is the time for the restoration of Israel, not the church. The church was raptured in Revelation 4:1. The reason why it seems there is no more persecutions is because the church is in an apostate. Maybe try living a holy Christian life and then see persecutions come your way. If you desire something else other than the promise made to Christians, your choice. But disagreeing with the word of God will not make God to change His mind about judging us from His Book (Rom 3:3-4).

Brother, I totally understand your point but let me make a clear distinction between the Jews and the church.
1). The Jews are referred to as "the people of God" while Christians are referred to as "the children of God" which we got through adoption.

2). God’s promises to the Jews is different from that promised to a Christian. To the Jews, if they do right they will have prosperity, good health, things like that. On the other hand, to the Church, He promised us sufferings. Try to study all the apostle Paul’s epistles who is our pattern. Suffering is anything you go through in life. (2 Tim 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution). A Christian is in a wrestling match with the devil who is the god of this world (2 Cor 4:4). God didn’t promised us peace, the peace He promised us is inner peace which you find in Philippians 4:7. The reason why Christians don’t like this promises is simply covetousness: desiring something God did not intend for one to have.

3). God dealt with the Jews as a nation or people. For Christians, God is dealing with us as an individual or as a person. That’s why at the judgement seat of Christ every one will give an account of what he did in his body (2 Cor 5:10). That’s why the only thing that can change a man is the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, and the Kjv Bible. Other than that, there’s no difference between us and a boko haram terrorist.
