thirdpage:pls look into this Most of the schools I want to apply to, I checked the admission requirements part on their website, they stated Official transcript..... I don't know if it's before enrollment or during application process, none stated they accept unofficial transcript, because sending transcripts from my school internationally is 10k, so 7 schools is like 70k excluding caurier, But on nairaland I keep seeing people applying to 8 to 10 schools, is that how these guys have money, or how does this stuff works?, one need to cut cost oo For those that applied to more than 5 schools, Did you upload unofficial transcript during application process knowing that the schools stated officials transcript on their website or you paid the required fee for official transcripts to be sent to each schools or how did you guys went around this stuff? I am confused. |

American streets and highways are largely smooth and most without the pot-holes and craters that riddle most Nigerian roads. American streets are substantially WIDER than most Nigerian streets, with the exception of those in central Abuja. It is extremely rare to see large "snow drifts" of trash covering American roads, whereas it is just as rare to see a clean street in Nigeria. Sewers in Nigeria are OPEN GUTTERS that present mortal danger to pedestrians and vehicles, whereas sewage and drainage systems in the US are entirely underground or fenced off where they can never constitute the death traps found everywhere along Nigerian streets, particularly in major cities. Vehicle emissions are strictly regulated in the US, but are not a concern in Nigeria so far. This means that large numbers of antiquated vehicles ply Nigerian roads belching out smoke that is thick enough to obscure the view of drivers and cause wrecks. Similarly the Nigerian police do not pull over motorists for having vehicles with no tail lights, adding a substantial risk to Nigerian night driving which does not exist in the US. You can hop in your car at any hour of the night and share the freeway with numerous other drivers in most parts of the US, whereas Nigerian highways are largely empty at night due to fear of armed robbery ambushes, "police" attacks and unmarked craters or huge tree logs left over from day-time police "check points". Streets in most US cities are laid out in an orderly rectangular grid which makes navigation very easy, particularly with today's GPS mapping technology found in many new vehicles, In Nigeria the streets are largely random in placement, with numerous un-posted one-way lanes and cul-de-sacs, making navigation a living nightmare for visitors. Pedestrians and drivers traversing the streets of most American cities are unlikely to be accosted by hordes of pick-pockets, beggars, aggressive street-vendors, and hoodlum gangs, whereas that is the rule and not the exception in Nigeria. A person being pulled over by the police in the US will reach for their driving license and registration, whereas anyone pulled over in Nigeria had best reach for their wallet, hoping they have enough cash money to avoid a vehicle impound and visit to the police station on trumped-up charges based on non-existent legislation. Wide pedestrian walkways line most streets in the US, but are a very rare sight in Nigeria outside of Abuja, with the few existing in other towns often fenced off and guarded by road-side businesses, forcing pedestrians to take their chances ducking cars, buses and swarming motor-cycle taxis in what passes for a road. A person may live in North America for a decade and never experience an electrical power outage, whereas in Nigeria it is rare for the lights to flicker on for so much as a negligible 10 % of the time in any given 24 hour period. Pay your utility bills in the US and you can be sure your home will be supplied with electricity, CLEAN water and cooking gas on tap. The uninterrupted flow of those basic utilities are remains a wistful fantasy in Nigeria, hopefully to be realized in coming decades for the benefit of generations yet un-born. Bribes are expected and demanded for even the most mundane rights in most Nigerian government offices, a situation as foreign to American culture as would be the sight a Nigerian-style motorcycle taxi transporting a family of six. There are virtually NO public toilets in Nigeria, so the sight of men and women defacting and urinating beside the road and in full view of the public is commonplace and routine, a revolting spectacle absolutely unheard of in the US. Other than these differences, Nigeria and North America are comparable in that there is terrain below and a sky above in both countries. Note: I haven't traveled out of the country before, the world is now a Global Village where you don't have travel out to know or see this things. I am preparing for the Gre and Toefl exam, when everything clicks......... I move OUT. Hell is full, NIGERIA is an extension SITE. 21 Likes |

Whether low or high ranked school........... most people just want to use the students root to escape this shitlole country, while the degree comes in handy, and if H1b is not forthcoming with the degree obtained in this low ranked schools, they just marry a citizen or find a way to regularise their stay. Hell is full, Nigeria is an extension site. But I am an advocate of Good schools and marketable course 5 Likes |

bigfrancis21:Good day, If a school doesn't state or ask for credential evaluation (Wes), can one still send transcripts to the school using the Wes ICAP (course by course evaluation), you know WES is fast in maximum 1 week or so to verified transcript and evaluation would be delivered to desired institution for $37 or so. Or I should just allow my undergraduate institution to send to my desired school directly and they evaluate their self. |

[quote author=Nitta08 post=66789669] Hey, look you can get into a masters program even with that CGPA. I was waiting to be done with everything before posting my story. My undergraduate CGPA was 2.7/5, Geophysics. 2.8/4 - transcript evaluation. That didn't stop me. I applied for fall 2017 and got back to back rejects. Just an admit from one but couldn't attend due to lack of funds. I sat for the GRE but my score wasn't stellar either. 295...Quant 151. I didn't mind. I applied to 9 universities this fall. 4 rejects, 5 admits with some sort of funding in some. Everything is about packaging and knowing what you want. Your Statement of Purpose, Recommendation letters, Resume should all be on point. And a drive to succeed on your intended course of study. E.g...if it's Geosciences or CS, what are the computer applications you can use that can make you valuable in that field. What courses have you gotten yourself trained in to make your CV attractive?. The God factor and several other factors. I make use of Yocket, Quora and gradcafe a lot. Especially Yocket because there you'll get school reviews and find and connect with so many Indians with similar profiles or even lesser and you'll also be able to channel your choice of schools according to your profile. Don't ever think you can't get into grad school with a 2.7 CGPA. Make the internet and search box engine your friend today. Good luc |
Politics / Ikeja Disco And Their Inhumane Attitude To Our Plight by Macaulay10(m): 7:40pm On Apr 16, 2018 |
All efforts by the present administration and especially Minister of Power to resolve electricity in the country are been sabotage by some officials of Ikeja Disco. They arrogate arbitrary power to themselves by not providing electricity for two weeks in every month and still distributing outrageous bills to us (crazy bills), if not paid, our light would be disconnected and this has been their traditions every month. Presently, our areas have been in total darkness for almost two weeks, areas like • Oyemeku street, Mojisola street, Otunubi street, Alimi ogunyemi street Ajenifuja street, Emmanuel Olorunfemi street, Gbagba Crescent, Imomoh and its environ A lot of effort in form of letters and several meetings has gone into finding solutions by residents but all to no avail as a result of the attitude of Ikeja Disco, they prefer exploiting us than giving services. We have had several meeting with following officials; Mr Ayotunga (07087406311) Mr Toloye 07069470764 Mr Simeo Mr Jide Kumapayi (08084158283) Mr Chidi 07039264041 Their excuses are not tenable, imagine telling us is transmission while other areas are having light, we are being maltreated in the hand of this officials. Kindly help to share and repost to get to the appropriate authority. Mynd44, OAM4J Moderators, pls kindly move this to front page |

Good day people I want to register for GRE through B. Y Mafit, so what is bothering my mind is that, if I should register for the exam, will a date be fixed for me by default for the exam, or I will be allowed to pick a date for the exam. I need adequate preparation and I plan on writing the exam around July. |
