New Haven gave me 30% scholarships yesterday night
wow!.. Good one bro, that's the Dean scholarships ... You can get more, the lady I was saying the other time got RA position after mailing the lecturers.
you can give it a shot too, we never know until we try... and don't limit the request to only your department.

The goal is to bring the cost as low as possible.

Well, the highest amount of Scholarship university of new haven will give you is a TA that comes with 75% tuition waiver. I got admitted for Spring and their consideration for funding is held separately from Admission. I have rejected the admit because I was required to do two prerequisites which I have to pay full credit fee for. The school being a private school is expensive for small aspirant Big God like us.
Eyah, the prerequisite was part of the stumbling block for you.
Sure, a private school, but if one can gather the funding opportunities available, it can bring to cost to the bare-minimun.
Anyway I have spread my risk to various schools, I just pray I can get any form of fundings, even if it is In state or out of state tuition waver.

Good morning guys, has anymore been admitted for spring at Austin Peay State University and Middle Tennessee State University. I am patiently waiting for their decision.

Moreso I was admitted to University of New Haven and I would like to apply for their funding but there is no where to apply for it, so I want to ask if it is automatically been considered with ones program application.
I think funding opportunities are hard for spring aspirants.
I am also processing my admission to New Haven for fall 2019, I was asked during the process if I will like to be considered for both provost assistantship and Dean scholarships which I ticked yes....... So I don't know if that was the case for you spring applicants.

There was a lady on this thread whose admission package came with Automatic Dean scholarship for Fall 2018, but she secured RA position later sha with 2.7 Gpa and GRE 295.

And again the Fundings are for early bird, I think the 1st priority deadline for the fundings are December/January and 2nd priority is March. The school is nice sha, they waived $50 application fee for me.
This to encourage others to apply sha

Good morning friends, I wish to know if it's advisable (in terms of convincing VO) to change from science to management studies for Master's degree.
This is because I currently have a uni that promise grants and scholarships in M.S Operations and Projects mgt.
That's a nice course..... May I know the name of the school?

Why apply to two departments in the same school??
Will that not also limit your chances?

wow, never thought of limiting chances, I have been skeptical about it though. ..... Applying to one will do then

1) will I pay separate applicantion fee when applying to two different department in a school?

2)Also, will I send two separate transcripts to different departments in the school? Or they can just check their archive and make use of just one i will be sending.

Fall 2019 proper.
I firmly believe, that any man finest hour, the greatest fulfillment that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause, and lies exhausted on the field of battle, victorious.

So so inspired mehn, been following this thread since 2016(Undergraduate Days). Brothers and sisters believe me this time next year, if at all we are not already in USA, we will be getting ready for our flight.
InshaAllah

I have been a silent follower of this great platform and I had my interview on Saturday 4th August, 2018. I believe it’s only right for me to give back to prospective students/F1 visa applicants.

I got to Walter Carlington at 7:30am, interview time was meant to be for 9:30am (I had to arrive that early because I get paranoid when I’m running late or have to rush).
My siblings had to park far away from the embassy and as I had to wait another 2hrs+ before the interview time, I felt tensed because of the long wait and as I sensed it was about to get to me, I had to walk around the parking area and squat a bit just to get the tension off me and to also get myself ready and confident.
Left the park for the embassy at 9:00am and on getting to the embassy, to my surprise applicants for 9:30am have been passed in. My head was about to spin again but fortunately the man who was in charge came out and said all those with appointment time 7:30am to 10:30am should line up and we were gradually passed in.

We had to do the normal documentation and verification process and then the long wait again under the pavilion. Eventually, we got going and it was time to go to the main building for the interview proper.

It was a big crowd as the hall was crowded to its brim. I was passed to a black lady who requested for my I-20 and Passport, returned it back after some minutes and I was directed to go for the fingerprint.
Afterwards, I had to join a waiting queue to be directed to the different VOs/windows.

I was eventually directed to window 6, a white young lady.

VO - Good morning
Me - Good morning!
VO - Pass your passport and your I-20
Me - I did as told
VO - Where are you going to?
Me - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for a Masters in History and a major in African History
VO - How many schools did you apply to?
Me - 4 schools. In addition to SIUe, I applied to Illinois State University, Cleveland State University and Wright State University
VO - How many admits?
Me - I got admitted to all except Wright State University
VO - So tell me what you know about SIUe
Me - This kind of caught me by surprise but I responded quickly by saying SIUe is located in Edwardsville, Illinois and it was established in 1957 as a sister University to Southern Illinois University Carbondale
VO - That’s okay! So why did you choose SIUe?
Me - I chose SIUe because the History Department has done more research on the civilizations in Africa than the other schools and this is also my area of research interest. In addition, I was offered a full tuition waiver and a graduate assistantship
VO - What would your research be about?
Me - The influence of the Bantu civilization and migration on other African states
VO - Oh interesting! I know a little about the Bantu civilization. So how much research have you done on it?
Me - I haven’t done much research on it, I however have the advantage of working with professors who have done extensive research on the civilizations in Africa
VO - I see you have an assistantship as well. What will you be doing as a GA?
Me - I will assist a professor in taking an undergraduate class. I will also be in charge of grading papers and assignments and some other office duties that will be assigned to me when I get to Edwardsville
VO - You said you worked as a research assistant in Helsinki. What was it about?
Me - It was a EU-funded project aimed at understanding the difficulties highly educated immigrants face in getting jobs in their expertise in Finland
VO - Did you study in Finland as well?
Me - Yes (wrong answer - so I corrected myself) I told her no I didn’t study in Finland. I however studied in a neighboring country to Finland
VO - So who paid for your education there?
Me - My Dad but (I said something worthless afterwards)
VO - Are you married?
Me - No, I am not!
VO - Kids?
Me - No, I don’t have any kids
VO - Okay (while stretching her hand to get the white paper) So you will get your passport at this location (she circled it) in 3/4 working days. Ensure you take your I-20 with you as you’ll be requested to show it at the POE
Me - Thank you
VO - Do have a nice day!

Profile:
BA - History & International Studies (2:1)
MA - International Relations & European-Asian Studies
IELTS - 7.5
I got full funding to SIUe and partial funding to Illinois State University
Travel History - I have lived in Europe for the past 5yrs and still have a valid residence permit. I have also traveled to Egypt, the UK, Ireland, Sweden (I am not sure how much of this counted)

I had a 14hr flight from Helsinki to Lagos on the 2nd-3rd August, a day to my interview and I didn’t get a proper sleep (anxiety coupled with the jetlag)

Big shout out and thanks to @Shayhune✌ and to everyone who has contributed positively on this page!
Official or Unofficial transcript, which did you submit during application process?
Politics / Re: The 2019 Election........ Hear Me Out, It Is Not A Prophecy But A Script. by Macaulay10(m): 8:42am On Aug 05, 2018
It will be hard for PDP to win 2019 Election

We want restructuring but guess what, the north have the votes and they will always vote it down. the ibos want presidency but they will always need the votes from the SW. In an ideal world we would have people like Durotoye but in the real world we have people like Saraki, Fayose,Dino, kashamu, Atiku and tambuwal.

You can live in an ideal world or you can face our realities. The reality is the people whose vote really determine elections are not you and I and they dont consider things we consider. The bus drivers, the Almajiris, the agberos, market women, the farmers outnumber you and I, 9 to 1!!! So for every vote you make based on youth, ideas, integrity, honesty, there are 9 that are based on tribe, religion, bag of rice, money and they are the votes that really matter. This is why we will always have bad choices and people like Dino and Fayose and kashamu in office and they dont care about what you say or think because your English and votes dont matter to them.

I am not here to preach, I am just reading the terrain as I see it. In an ideal world none of the names mentioned would be candidates, most of them if not all belong in jail

please and please do not use Nipost. i sent a document using nipost register mail to the USA and its been more than 4 weeks now and its still hasnt delivered uptil this very moment, if at all you would use the Nigeria postal service use EMS, although its expensive but at least its takes 5-7 days maximum to deliver and cost around 17k or so you can also use dhl or ups more faster but cost around 19.5k ( takes 3-5 days to deliver)

Bros, if I am to use DHL to send transcripts to 3 different schools at the same time, will DHL charge 19.5k each on the three transcripts or the 19.5k covers the 3 transcripts

Some schools require unofficial transcript and if you decide to enrol you will be required to send official transcript. However, people still apply to 2 or 3 schools that require official transcript, its left for you to have a mix of schools on your list depending on how big your dream is and how far you are willing to go. These schools require unofficial transcript, you can start from there 1) University of Maryland, college Park. 2) Virginia Tech 3) Ohio State 4) Oklahoma State University 5) Michigan Tech 6) University of North Carolina Charlotte 7) Northwestern University. The onus still falls on you to donan extensive research based on your criteria.

Good day,

Pls i need someone to suggest the best books I Need for GRE preparation.
I got this from How to achieve high score in Gre thread, this process is effective

suggest you start by watching Magoosh videos, then to the Manhattan 8 series, then pick up the Manhattan 5lb and solve from chapters 7-29. Magoosh videos helps with understanding and revising the basic concepts you may have forgotten, the Manhattan series gives lucid explanations on all the quant topics (and there are lots of questions to play around with), then the 5lb is just the icing on the cake; if u can solve and review all the quant questions coupled with taking some full-lenght practice tests,a perfect score shouldn't be a far cry. It's not as easy as it seems o, but u just have to keep going at it. All the best bro.
PS: Whatever you do, never forget that the ETS official guide i s the bible of the GRE (read it as many times as you deem fit).

If you check admission requirement for schools I think a school that requires evaluation will always state it.

However from my end:
Ohio State University
University of Rochester
University of Delaware
Clark University
Southern Methodist University

Please don't be limited to these schools... Do your research.
you mean this are all the schools you applied to, and none requested for WES
