Seems these scammers have devised a new means. Gone are the days when one sees 'Workers wanted' written on every wall in lagos. Now, it's 'Teachers wanted' that you'll see written on walls.

just to corroborate your points , o ye learned fellows, the pythagoras theorem is only but a modification of the cosine rule where the reference angle of the triangle whose solution is sought for using the cosine rule is 90 degrees. Hence the peculiar solution: pythagors theorem which can be readily applied to solving for a side of any triangle,given d oda 2 sides, that has 1 of itz angle equal to 90 degrees I.e. A right angle triangle instead of going through the seemingly long cosine rule process. In summary, pythagoras theorem is the cosine rule form or translation for right angle triangles. I think it is better put this way in order not to confuse people:

Pythagoras Theorem is exclusively used for a right-angled triangle. However, if the included angle is other than 90 degrees, then, Cosine Rule is applied.

They asked me to come back first week of resumption and teach a class (they said they will give me a topic and a day to prepare), which I think it's a fair deal considering my lack of secondary school teaching experience (my experience ends in lecture theatrez where i used to take tutorials for freshers back in uni). Any advice on how to handle ds without messing up a good opportunity? Positive feedbacks will be duly appreciated. Also, what salary range will be fair for a school in a lower middle class area and over a 1k students. Thank you

1. Written test: since na primary
school, expect some 'Ugo C. Ugo" tinz,
ie maths, English, quantitativ+verbal,
and current affairs.
2. Micro teaching:
(a) plz be VERY audible, Don't shout
but be loud.
(b) be assertive. Don't 4m 'gentlemen'
o!
(c) choose a topic u are VERY VERY
good in; remember u've got only ONE
CHANCE to impress dm.
(d) No blabbing/stammering. This
shows timidity/incompetence.
(e) Liven up the class; try 2 make
them laugh whenever possible. Add
some humor 2 ur lecture.
(f) Feedback: Ensure u ask ur audience
(which could be students or teachers
or both) questions.
(g) mobility: move round d class once
in a while, this shows/portrays "class
control" and confidence. Don't just
stay rooted 2 d board.
(h) look into the eyez of ur students.
This also portrays confidence. Don't
avoid their gaze. You can focus on a
few students out of d lot that u are
comfortable looking at.
(i) ALWAYS put on a smile,
irrespective of how tense u are; ds
portrays confidence
(j) peradventure a question is thrown
@ u which u VIRTUALLY KNOW
NOTHING about, instead of babbling/
spewing out thrash, smile and with
FULL confidence, tell them u don't
have it RIGHT NOW @ the tip of ur
hands. In order words, be honest about
it. By so doing, u score a 'high' on d
honesty/sincerity scale. On d other
hand, if u bin get 'shikini' idea about d
question, say 5%, my sister, with
splendour, abeg magnify that 5%
answer like say u Sabi efrytin! In other
words, "ideas lo matter"!
3. Oral interview:
(a) AGAIN, ALWAYS PUT ON A SMILE.
(b) be free 2 ask dm questions too.
This shows them dt u are in control of
ur "environment" and MOST ESP, it
tells them u are NOT DESPERATE 4
the job-EVEN IF U FASTED 7 DAYS 4 IT!!!
(c)Transfer/Sign-on fee: Don't sell
urself cheap yet don't drive urself off d
transfer market with ur wage
demands. With d exception of some
few cases, the population of a school,
their school fees, d location of d
school or/and d "reservoir" (ie capital
base) of d proprietor of such school is
a pointer 2 d SOF such school can
offer u! So do a research on ds or
better still a mental calculation/visual
observation of th......... **yawns**

I got ur point alright, neither was i refering to the mushroom "backyard" kinda schools. Where i reside schools pay that amount some dont pay up to but i never saw those "backyard" schools as the type that will be "the X-factor" on my resume. Moreover, how many of us are even living close to these backyard schools that pays 40k? 3 out of 10 maybe? If u dey abuja we fit do some washings

Bro that part where u say a 40k "backyard" is better off, i beg to differ. I took up a job of 28k(mind u not a backyard sch) where my Tfare is/was over 10k minus feeding n oda minor expenses.(May 19 to be precise). My take home was 12k but i never bothered because i believed i was there 4 the experience. I went in as an accounting teacher, in less than 2weeks i became an interim bursar-the bursar was sacked, fraud related offences.

My point is, in the space of one month i have been offered jobs in other bigger schools because they believe any academic/non-academic staff from that school is a real deal. Need i say i jst got signed up for more than X4 of that 28k minus other allowances-housing, health, extra hours etc. I will wrk 7:30am close 3pm and i get to teach jst js2 and 3 plus bursar job. Always see your present job as a springboard my brother. U earn 40k in a "backyard" school and when you try to apply for the top notch schools, sometimes that your 40k backyard school might be the reason you will not get an invite because its a "backyard" school so to speak

In my first place of teaching after NYSC, I stumbled on a teacher's application letter. Mehn, he mentioned about 6 subjects he could teach.
He suffered like...... hum. If any teacher leaves, he would be ask to teach the subject pending on the time they get a new teacher.

For the salary, one must start somewhere. I know #20k is small but those in mainland have no choice Even if one gets a job that pays well but far from his house , how will he cope?

A person that lives in Shibiri and gets a job @ Lekki without accommodation will not be able to cope.

Do you know how many teachers left Pinefield schools Lekki because she told them no more accommodation.?

A friend of my friend got a job at Satellite and was paid #35k. In a month, she spends like #10k for t.fare. I learnt she is not resuming with them because of the wahala. Volks and barracks hold up both morning and evening
