Am not much of a fan of Awo, as his free educaiton was built on a tenous foundation...but he did not use any oil money for the SW when he was in charge.

Awo was in charge of the SW from 1957-62. Oil was discovered in 1956...and until 1967, about half went to the Federal government, and the other half went to the regions. Regions used their half of what they got from the raw materials they sold then to fund themselves.

Awo funded free education using cocoa revenues. Not oil. Oil did not even become a major earner for Nigeria until the 1970's.

Am talking about UNILAG pay 16k in 2023 and he daid its Awo's legacy, and I asked from which money?

Omo nna. No part of Nigeria has any free education. All federal schools have uniform or close to fee right since the day regional government was canceled. Every FG unity school students pay tuition, same as Federal uni, poly and colleges. I know many of you don't undertand the differences between Federal owned and state owned. Every states have different ways and models for their education sector. Una go open mouth wa a a a a a a a a a

All Federal univeristies do not have same fees. I was shocked when I read that the almighty UNILAG school fees was 16k in 2023. I told somebody that south west enjoys free education.

I attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University. I got admission in 2004 and my school fees was 23k by the time I was graduating in 2009 I paid almost 50k for achool fees.

I was evn telling somebody that If I had known UNILAG school fees is 16k that since 2012 I came to, Lagos, I would have enrolled for another degree.

Go and check how, much UNIZIK and other federal universities in the east are paying.

Believe me 100k is a reduction in what federal universities in east are paying..

That was my hostel when I was in UNIZIK. What the plumber did is very bad. Especially scamming the students living in the hostel.

But good for Akajiaku, students went through hell living in that hostel. He will collect light bills upfront when you are paying for rent, but will never pay the money to NEPA.

That Paradise hostel is one hell hole.

I use Tinubu's University issue to counsel my Friends sending kids here that University of Pennsylvania in Pennsylvania State is different from Pennsylvania State university both in Pennsylvania State.
While they are both tops and expensive one is an Ivy League the other is not.

A call to Chicago State University requesting the Books for $15 showed Tinubu graduated from there and was their best Accounting Student!
Now the School laughs at People calling to inquire if he attended.
They said they are grateful though because the $15 inquiry had helped raised almost a Milliion dollars for the School!
