To me four years does not seem  really that hard to handle, but I may see things differently.

Maybe she see's further problems down the road, but whatever the problem is, you should not force anything.

He knows she is older than him when they were dating but didnt bother cos he loves her. So the only way to keep her is to prove your superiority over her and not a younger brother. I have dated older gals and they know they are older than me but could not go cos I give them happiness and acted matured.

Being mature means you do not have to prove superiority.

I as the female in such a relationship I would give the man the upper hand, but if he needs to prove  anything to me I would soon tire.
