Consider the written historical evidence of Jesus from these varied sources ,

Non-Christian, Non-Jewish Historians Comment on the History of Jesus

Cornelius Tacitus (c. A.D. 55-120)

A Roman historian who lived through the reign of over a half-dozen Roman emperors1, Tacitus has been called "the greatest historian of ancient Rome. His most famous works are the Annals and the Histories. The Annals covers from 14 A.D. to approximately 68 A.D. (the death of Augustus up to the time of Nero), while Histories proceeds from 68 A.D. (Nero's death) to 96 A.D. (the time of Domitian).

Here is what Tacitus wrote concerning the history of Jesus, and the existence of Christians in Rome:

"But not all the relief that could come from man, not all the bounties that the price could bestow, nor all the atonements which could be presented to the gods, availed to relieve Nero from the infamy of being believed to have ordered the conflagration, the fire of Rome. Hence to suppress the rumor, he falsely charged with the guilt, and punished with the most exquisite tortures, the persons commonly called Christians, who were hated for their enormities. Christus, the founder of the name, was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius: but the pernicious superstition, repressed for a time, broke out again, not only through Judea, where the mischief originated, but through the city of Rome also." (Annals XV, 44)1.

Some points to note about the narrative from Tacitus:

He mistakenly refers to Jesus as "Christus", however this was a common practice among the pagan writers at that time.
He supports the fact that Christ existed, and was put to death by Pontius Pilate - agreeing with the Christian scriptures.
He alludes to "the pernicious superstition" which broke out, was repressed, but then spread even more - even throughout the city of Rome itself. This may indeed be referring to the core belief which caused the early church to explode and "turn the world upside down" -- that Jesus had died indeed, but that He had also risen from the grave.


Thallus, a Samaritan-born historian who lived and worked in Rome about 52 A.D., wrote a history of the Eastern Mediterranean world (Habernas, VECELJ, 93). Although the original writings of Thallus are lost to us, Julius Africanus, a Christian historian of the late second century (2221 A,D.), was familiar with them and quotes from them. One very interesting passage from Thallus relates to the darkness that enveloped the land at the time of Christ's crucifixion. Julius Africanus writes as follows:

"Thallus, in the third book of his histories, explains away this darkness as as an eclipse of the sun - unreasonably, as it seems to me (unreasonably, of course, because a solar eclipse could not take place at the time of the full moon, and it was at the season of the Paschal full moon that Christ died." (Julius Africanus, Chronography, 18.1)

Now on that verse, I will give you the simple task of asking yourself, why do all countries in the world have standing army? DO you know that America spends billions of Dollars maintaining its army? Now to answer your simple question. This verse was revealed during the period when Muslims were under constant threat of war from the Paganistic meccans. Now amongst the ranks of Muslims there were some who did not want to fight, Hence Allah said to them Fighting is required from you, note Throughout the conflicts of  between Muslims and the pagans the pagans were the ones who started the war, they hated Islam and wanted to extinguish the light Allah brought for mankind, to cut a long story short, this verse reminded the muslims that fighting is compulsory for them because if they do not fight they will be killed. Hence those hating fighting in such conditions would be doing himself and his family a great disservice as no man would like to see his wife and children slaughtered.

In Islam it is seen as a virtuous act to defend yourself and family and even your country from invaders, hence this verse refers to the situation in which the Hypocrites those who pretended to be Muslims, pretended not to be well or strong enough to fight during the wars instituted by the pagans. Allah here indicated that those who stayed back cannot e compared to those who went out fighting.

Now, Remember the following:

That it is wrong to defend and repel attack on your person or country.

It is virtuous to fight against people who want to harm you or your family


All wars fought against the pagans were actually started by the Pagans the Muslims simply did the virtuous thing by defending themselves and community from such attack.

Let me suggest you follow Hinduism, since you want to follow first to come, it is viewed as the oldest religion in the world. but if you want to follow what appeals to rational and sane principles Islam remains your best bet. Why did I say this? Simply put it, in Islam we believe that there is no nation nor group of people that Allah did not guide, hence in Islam we believe most religion where Islamic but later got corrupted over time, we believe all religion must have at some time belief in one God but adherents later on corrupted such belief, take Christianity for example Jesus called himself a servant of God, indicated that non except God knows the day of Judgement meaning he is ignorant of a day he is alleged to be a Judge, again Jesus maintain a belief in one God and nowhere in the entire bible did he claim to be equal to God, in fact he said The Son cannot be greater than the Father, Jesus never prayed to himself instead he kept praying to God for help and sustenance. I was forced to post this when i over-heard someone saying Islam is a religion of Peace, with the abouve verse (dn't really know if its in the Quran cos i copied it from google) i agree to disagree.

So many false teachers and i hate to be the one to expose them, imagine walking straight to one of the false pastors church and tell his congregation that this man is not preaching the real word of God and he is a false prophet, you might either end up in the Hospital with your two legs up (one for sokoto the other for yokoto ) or you might be stoned to death with the bible.

Is it wise to expose a pastor who tried to rape your girlfriend in front of everybody on Sunday in Church? or to just call one or two HommieG's and beat him to stupor, which is okay to do? or should i let go?

As for me, he has done a lot, i don't even know where to start from, but what really made me to Believe, Trust, Love, Praise, Worship and most of all, FEAR Him is this

on the 20th of July, i went to the Malaysia Immigration complex to renew my papers and i have three months over stay already, when i got to the Immigration Office, i was told that i over-stayed and i will be deported, blacklist and will not enter Malaysia for 12months, i was asked to sit-down while my deportation papers are being prepared, not knowing what to do and think, i had to call on HIM, (The Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords), i was praying (deep down my heart), after 30mins of prayer, the Immigration officer called me to come over, asked me to thumb print and gave me my passport fully stamped and the only thing he told me was to be careful.

The joy i felt that day was like the joy of 30million people put together. That was the first time i actually prayed and ask God for something, and he did it for me (INSTANTLY), i have never stop reading my Bible because that Miracle gave me the zeal to know him (GOD) more and more and i find myself reading the bible everyday, a day has not gone by without me reading the bible.

The only reason i started this thread is because am sick of people (mostly my Muslim Friends) comparing Christianity and Islam, i was force to do this research and post this here just to seek other peoples opinion about this.

I have read both the quoran and the Bible and i know what is what and which is which, i don't compare my religion to any other religion and same time i can not stand and watch people talk about what they do not know, the argument between Christianity and Islam is like saying Chealsea is better than Manchester United without clarifying which aspect.

You want me to answer your question without you answering mine, i asked you a simple question, during your active years as a (so called) Christian, did you actually experience any kind of Miracle like the one i mentioned above? have you ever started something and God reveled to you in a dream how it ended and it ended the exact way you saw it in our dream? have you ever prayed so hard and you felt the spirit of God descend and dwell in you? have you ever had a tooth pain or any other pain and place your hand where that pain is and prayed to God to heal you before going to bed and find out that the pain is gone the next morning? if you have ever experienced any of the above mentioned miracle/vision/healing then i know you were a real Christian and i will like to know why you really backslide, but if you did not experience any of the above miracle/vision/healing, then you are a F.R.A.U.D and a FAKE

So answer my question and i will try my possible best to answer all your questions, i even saw someone asking me who did Cain married  forgetting that  God crated Eve out of Adam and what makes you think he can not or did not create Cain's wife out of him too, you guys better stop asking stupid question and focus on Serving your Creator.

Boss-mi, no offence but if you were a Christian, i mean a real Christian who not only read the bible but also practice what you read, nothing on earth can make you change you believe, if you were indeed a Christian who has indeed read the bible, and came across the parable of the sower, and so many other parables, your only prayer to God through Jesus Christ will be to make you believe so you can over-come your unbelief, seriously boss i dnt think you were a true Christian/follower/disciple of JESUS CHRIST who has tested the many wonders and miracles of God, when you were a Christian, have you ever been in a deep problem like say losing your home and about to live on the street, then you prayed to God through Jesus Christ to give you a home and you give God a deadline (yes a deadline) to give you a home or an alternative but not to allow you to live in the street and a day to the deadline, HE DID IT, have you ever experienced this kind or any kind of miracle during your Christian years? and if you have not then sorry to say this, U ARE/WERE NOT A CHRISTIAN and if you have ever experienced this or any kind of miracle, can you tell us why you turned your back on Christ-ianity?

I don't hate the bible. I've read much of the bible myself. I just don't place it on a higher level than other 'holy texts'. If you love your bible, good for you. May it bring you much joy. Enjoy it with yourself and your friends and leave the uninterested ones alone.

Also, since this is my 1st post, I wanted to give a shoutout to Mazaje, Harakiri, Jenwitemi, ogaju007 and others that are speaking up for their beliefs. I know that the Naija brand of christianity is very agressive and seeks to drown any opposing voices with evangelical fervour, while somehow trying to project the image of being the underdog. The fact that we have very consistent and knowlegeable voices counterbalancing the religious discussions on the forum makes me very hopeful!

I don't think anyone is disturbing the uninterested ones and if anyone is please he/she should stop, if you approach someone to preach to him/her and she/she refuses to listen, all you have to do is ignore the person, bossmi, this heaven en, no be everybody get power to make am and no be by force.

The devil is fighting hard to destroy the bible, i was watching a video on youtube an interview about an ex-freemasonry/Illuminati guy, the guy said that the devil has three plans.

1- to destroy the bible without burning it
2- to make people believe neither him nor God exist
2- to make people believe they, themselves are gods.

and come to think of it, all this three days are happening as you read this, how many of us (even Christians) bible owners do actually read the bible except on sunday when in church and the only verse you see the pastor reading is about giving one tenth of what you earn to God, i rather give it to the poor than to give it to the pastor to give it to God for me.

i was also listening to Rihana's song (disturbia or watever she calls it) and she says something like "its like the darkness is the light" and if you come to think of it, thats what most people believe now, they think being a homosexual/lesbian is the light way, killing is the light way, extortion is the light way, evil is the light, i keep on wondering why are this people turning or trying to turn everybody against God/light Jesus Christ and most especially THE HOLY BIBLE.
