I will contact him right away. Getting parts to Bayelsa can be a bit difficult and tiring especially if you have to return it several times cos it didn’t quite fit specifications. In the interim are there any untoward effects from using the car without the pressure regulator? I’m tempted to leave it as it is cos everything looks good right now. But I can’t risk irreversible engine damage from its absence. What would you advise?

My car (Ford Edge 2007 SEL) won’t start on first try. It will only start after 3 or 4 tries. I noticed this about a year ago when I had my fuel pump changed. You advised to get another fuel pump sometime ago but I’ve been unable to get the exact pump (casing and all) as the “follow come”. 2days ago while trying to replace it with a new pump I ordered, my mechanic stumbled into a “solution” for this chronic protracted problem. Note that we couldn’t even use the new pump cos it wasn’t exactly the same as the one for my ford too. Anyway he removed a certain component from the pump and viola car now starts on first crank. The supposed “faulty” pump now works perfectly. My worry is that, the said component removed wasn’t replaced, I’m wondering what the short/long term effects are on my engine. My mechanic swears on his father’s life that the absence of said component isn’t deleterious to the car. However I don’t believe him becos he doesn’t even know the name of the component let alone it’s use. I’ll upload a pic here. Pls I need to know if I should leave it the way it is or get another pump again(it’s being an uphill task getting the exact one I need tho, so I’m tempted to just leave it now that the car starts on first try for the first time in a lonnnnnggg time). Pls what’s the name of this part?

Yesterday I feel a sudden thud/jerk while driving in traffic. It felt like I was hit from behind by another car, alas that wasn’t the case when I checked my mirrors. I subsequently noticed the gear wasn’t selecting. Everything went back to normal once I turned off the car and turned it back on again. I had a similar experience again after several hours. Now it seems as tho once it happens the car is fixed in gear 3/4, it accelerates slowly but once it picks up speed it can go really fast, and the same crazy thud is felt when I engage the gear to reverse. Sir, is it what I fear it is
07 Ford Edge. Gear oil has never been changed to the best of my knowledge.

Ford Edge 2007. I noticed a few months ago that car doesn’t start on first try after being parked overnight but It will always start after second or third try. I’ve changed battery, change “cold start” changed fuel pump, plus other small small fixes by my mechanics. Still same issue. Car drives normal, no error codes on dash. Also after parking the car for long(say from 8-4 in the office) it has same ish. I’ve however resigned myself to fate. But the spirit revealed that you might hv a fix for it. It’s just v embarrassing becos my neighbors too hv noticed that Oga Moto nor dey start once ooh! ��‍♂️

Is your immobilizer (green key) icon flashing whenever you try to kick the car and it fails to start?

When mine was acting like yours I changed my WHOLE ENGINE FUSE BOX and it stopped ever since.

I don't think so. But all the dash lights come on just like when the car is abt to start, just that there's no actual "engine trying to start sound" just silence. My electrician did a connection and it's working fine for now. He said the only downside is the car can now start enven tho the gear is on D or R. I guess it's suppose to only stat when the gear is on park.

Interesting case. ..I would start by finding out if your case is isolated or if anyone else has experienced this.

I recall reading somewhere of an accord that would have intermittent total failure of electronics, as in the vehicle will totally shut down but I didn't read the details just the headline.

Will look it up and compare.

I was very busy with my hustle today so i couldnt go for the diagnosis as planned. Interestingly the car behaved itself today. I remember praying silently when i went to buy fuel. I still dey observe.

You will need a high end Scanner to see if the engine ecu is receiving a start command. Pls visit a Tech that uses a high end Diagnostic tool.

I noticed that the car starts fine in the mornings but during the heat of the day or after driving for a long time, it won't start but all the dashboard lights will come on, however if I let it cool down for abt 30mins, it will start and work fine like no wahala. My mechanic thinks it's the kick starter, my electrician thinks kick starter is fine as the car starts fine wen the kick is bridged wit a wire connecting to the ba3 terminal (it's a pretty new ba3, abt a month old). Electrician still can't isolated the cause of the occasional failure to start. No error codes on the dash and my "baby scanner" doesn't pick anything either. I'm taking it in for further diagnosis tmrrw tho. Any ideas?

I have a well maintained, less than two years used FORD EGDE, can we swap?
I prefer the Lexus becos technical know how and parts availability are critical factors i didn't consider wen i got the EDGE. AC needs fixing though.

so i took delivery of two tyres from boss Tolu yesterday. had them fitted in today, and i'm mighty glad i did. Tolu is just too much. a v calm, soft spoken dude. A great salesman with genuine interest in customer satisfaction. All the wahala of transportation to bayelsa was worth it.

Thank you very much. Now that you mentioned it, I remember An incident that happened last October. I was out of town when my wife called me that on her way to the market the steering was stiff n the battery lite was showing on the dash. Called my mechanic immediately to go check it out. He told me later that the fan belt had cut n he also needed to change one of the pulleys the fanbelt rides on as it was badly damaged when the belt cut. I wired him the cash and he fixed it in abt 3hours. My point is dat since there was really no one to monitor him then maybe he bought a "not so Gud pulley". Thanks a lot. I will have it checked out on Monday.

Yes!! My juju thinks it is the Crank shaft pulley.

Let me explain.

Look at this perfect crank shaft pulley, it is a 2 piece metal material, with rubber in between.

Now when it gets old and worn it looks like this

And the metal material in the center spins faster than the outer side.


So it behaves like a failing transmission, plenty rev and no go!

It's just theoretical, please confirm.

i use a well maintained 07Accord V6. Haven't really had any serious issues so far. However last weekend I drove to asaba from Yenagoa (wit my fam so I neva exceeded 120km/hr), 2 hours into the journey the car jerked 3times while I was doing abt 80km/hr, abt 30mins Lata it jerked again n stopped the steering was stiff n battery lite came on the dash, naturally I thot it was a fan belt issues but wen I opened the bonnet the belt was ok. car came back to life n worked well once I switched it off n back on. I ran a scan later that day wit my "baby scanner" wit no error code. Next day abt 2 hrs on the journey back I experienced same jerk but it didn't stop. I also noticed a small burning smell in the car at some point during the journey, I wudnt hv thot much of it but my wife noticed it too. Car has been behaving well since I got back but I'm worried abt driving out of town. My kazzem has no clue wia to begin troubleshooting from. Pls wot cud be the problem as I'm a "prevention is better than cure" kinda person.
