Hello Everyone, If you succeed in receiving a visa to attend a short professional event in USA, what happens when you are given a two year visa and then at the airport you are stamped for six months? Is it correct that you can stay two full years but you must briefly leave every six months? I know of someone who is convinced that this is correct, but I believe he is setting him self up for failure later. Wise ones please weigh in, thank you. |
Infiosa:Yes but do you have dependents still associated from a previous application? |
This is inaccurate It's true that "If you are serving or have served in the U.S. armed forces and are interested in becoming a U.S. citizen, you may be eligible to apply for naturalization under special provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)." https://www.uscis.gov/military/naturalization-through-military-service BUT, those people joined the military before that program was closed. Military service Certain F-1 students may be eligible to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces through the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest, or MAVNI program. While students on F-1 visas are normally not allowed to join the military, they may be able to receive an exception if they possess critical skills needed by the military. This program allows people who qualify to join the military and apply for U.S. citizenship using Form N-400. However, the program was closed indefinitely and is under review by the current administration, so it may not be an avenue for obtaining a Green Card in the near future. https://www.novacredit.com/resources/f1-to-green-card/ See also https://www.usa.gov/join-military which states Requirements for Enlisting If You Are Not a U.S. Citizen You do not have to be a U.S. citizen to enlist in the military, but you may have fewer options. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must: Have a permanent resident card, also known as a Green Card Currently live in the U.S. Speak, read, and write English fluently |
Infiosa:I don't believe the email is the trouble. Rather, for IW the website states: Are any dependents associated with your profile? Please note, to schedule an interview waiver appointment, you will need to dissociate all dependents from your profile Persons with dependents appear to be rejected. |
justwise:This is welcome news. It has been sad to see those agents extorting such large sums from desperate people. I hope the new system will work. |
This is my first post. I have a naive question: How do the touts do it? How do they manage to secure appointments at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate in Lagos? And an even more naive question, are the touts taking all the appointments on purpose just so that they can charge so much money for an appointment? Please explain this all to me as if I am stupid, because I truly do not understand. |
