I disagree with you. It's not just white and black as you think. There are grey areas, and different shades of grey indeed. No two economically successful countries have the same ideology. I bet you Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland do not have the same ideologies. What Cuba does is not what you find in North Korea. Even Canada and USA dont share the same ideology. You can't even say USA is capitalist with all it's welfare system, not to talk of Britain that is almost overdoing its welfare. There is no welfare in a capitalist system. I read one article where an economist tried to classify all the developed countries as welfare capitalism. But it still makes the whole thing messy, because USA and Sweden does not have the same level of welfare |

Perhaps there should be a concerted effort to pay taxes and avoid tax evasion/avoidance. What is wrong with tax avoidance? |

The whole South-East budget is 330 billion naira for the fiscal year 2010. The budget of River State for the fiscal 2010 is 425 billion naira. 1. Are you blaming the states or the federal government? 2. Are you blaming the federal government for giving free money to the state governments? 3. Are you blaming the state governments who put the billions in few individual pockets instead of investing it wisely 4. In my opinion, 330 billion naira is more than enough for the south-east states |

I guess this original poster to this post did not intend it to be narrowed down to Nigeria, but since most of us are Nigerians lets do so. 1. People give examples with Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark. USA, China, UAE, Britain, Canada and Japan. These countries are practicing variant forms of mixed economies. That is to say, they are neither capitalists nor socialists. They just do what suit their citizens and their country as a whole. 2. The problem with Nigerian theorists, such as the ones on this forum is that they look so much on other succesful countries as models, without considering whether their system will be suitable to Nigeria, with all its dynamics. If travelling by boat is the fastest way in country AA, lets implement it in country BB without considering if coutry BB has rivers or if it is a mere desert 3. Fela, the legendary musician was once asked what economic system best suited Africa. He said capitalism, socialism, communism dont suit Africa, what suits Africa is Africanism, which is Africans doing what works for them. In the case of Nigeria, Nigeria doing what works for her. 4. One needs to look at most of the laws in Nigeria, for instance taxation law, insurance policies and so many other things all copied verbatim from the British ones, thereby creating conflicts with our internal natural system 5. USA is successful and it doesnt practice the same system with Sweden. Sweden is successful and it doesnt practice the same system with Britain. Britain is successful and it doesnt practice the same system with China. China is successful and it doesnt practice the same system with Saudi Arabia. 7. Why can't Nigerian theorists stop using words like socialism, capitalism, state capitalism, communism, etc. and start talking of Nigerianism? |

Why do people on this forum keep saying that Microsoft is a monopolist? What makes them so? Is it Windows Operating System, or MS Office, or media player, or Internet Explorer, or hotmail, or what? Why would someone wake up one day and use Microsoft as an example of a monopolist? |

Capitalism! No country practices capitalism. Most countries on the planet have mixed economies. Perhaps capitalism is practiced somewhere outside this universe. I heard there are people existing in the multiverse which is billions and billions of light years away from us. |

I'm an actor. One of the best actors that have lived on this planet. I don't think there is any nollywood actor better than me. You can only count one or two hollywood actors before you hear my name. I can play in all roles, I can sing like Michael Jackson. I'm a man but I can mimic female voice that is far better than celine dion or mariah carey. I can play karate and summersault six or seven times in the air. I can , etc. Can you see a sample of me acting on YouTube? No. Just ask me and I will write what I can do on Nairaand. |

Nigeria is not the 178th country in the ranking. More so ranking is just a number, so no cause for alarm! |

I will not try to criticize you, but there are so many Nigerians who have gone cyber with pictures. Perhaps you have not encountered yahoo yahoo boys who send pictures of beautiful ladies and make their fellow men fall in love and send them money through Western Union, not knowing they are blokes looking for who to chop im money. However, if you are real, or if you are writing on behalf of someone whom you think is suitable for the Naija movie industry, then my advice to you and the person you are representing is to pay little attention to Nairaland and focus more on YouTube. Simply do a five-minute 'show' on YouTube and it will guarantee whatever role you want in the industry. I guess you are aware that so many people (not in Naija) started their acting career through YouTube. For Example, search for 'White Nigerian ' on YouTube and watch it. At the moment the guy is running away from scouts and event organisers, beacuse they want him to be at every Naija event wey dey happen for Jand. |

Interesting! Onye nzuzu n' eji aka ekpe arú úlö nna ya aka It is only the foolish person that points to his father's house with his left hand (Stupid to treat serious issues with disdain) ______________________________________________________________ Onye úmúnnaya dinyere ozi n’eji ukwu agbawa úzö A man on an errand by his kinsmen, breaks into the house without knocking on the door (If you have authority, you show it without looking back) ___________________________________________________________________ Nwa nza rijue afö, ya si chi ya púta mgba When the small bird has had enough to eat, it challenges its god to a wrestling bout (When a negligible achievement makes ones head swell to the extent that he takes on challenges that he can't handle) __________________________________________________________________ ösö nwanyi n'agba hapú ara ya aka, abúghi obere ösö // öbúghi egwu achi útaba n'aka agba When a woman runs without holding her breasts, then the situation must be serious (note, in those days bra had not yet been invented) // It's a kind of dance one can't do with tobacco stuff on the palm of his hand (This situation is critical // You must take this serious) ___________________________________________________________________ Nwa ga egburu nna ya ehi, ana amaya n’ ije ukwu ya // Eji ahú ama uto nsi You can easily tell a child that will buy a cow for his father's funeral, simply from his footsteps (There is always an indication to whether something will be successful) _____________________________________________________________________ Nwata akwö n’azú amaghi n’ije na ara ahú The child on her mothers back does not know how difficult it is to walk a long distance (When you have things on a platter of gold, you wont know what others go through to get it) _____________________________________________________________________ Onye añú gbara n’atú ijiji újö A man stung by a bee runs when he sees a fly (Experience of a mishap makes one extra cautious // Once bitten twice shy) _______________________________________________________________________ ijijji benyere n’ akpa amú, I hapú ya, öta akpa amú, isi ka igbue ya, ikupia mkpúrú amú (IDIOM) It's like a fly that perched on the scrotum, if you decide to leave it, it will bite the scrotum, if you decided to hit it, you crush the testes (A dicey situation, all the options present serious risks) |
