Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has described Victor Osimhen as a complete striker.

Drogba lauded the Nigerian striker while reacting to a video clip on Twitter, where Osimhen, who should have played a penalty, unselfishly gave the ball to his Napoli teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhlia to play the spot kick against Ajax in the Champions League.

Kvaratskhlia scored the spot kick to put Napoli 3-1 ahead in the 62nd minute.

Osimhen, 23, also found the back of the net in the 89th minute as the Serie A leaders won 4-2 on match day 4.

Migos rapper, Takeoff, has reportedly died after he was shot in Houston early this morning, November 1.

28-year-old Takeoff, birth name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was reportedly shot over a dice game in Houston.

It was initially reported that his fellow Migos rapper, Quavo, was also shot but that has been refuted.

A video circulating online shows Takeoff lying on the ground while a shaken Quavo (in a red T-shirt) struggled to come to terms with what had happened.

Takeoff, Quavo, and Cardi B's husband Offset make up the group Migos and are blood relatives.

Many have taken to Twitter to mourn Takeoff, making him trend even in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s first Aviation Minister and a member of the first republic leaders, Chief Mabzulike Amechi, has died at the age of 93.

According to a press statement from the family on Tuesday, signed by Ezeana Tagbo, Chief Amechi died in the early hours of Tuesday, November 1.

Amechi, who hailed from Amihe village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was a nationalist and the only surviving member of the Zikist Movement.

The statement read, “With total deference to the will of the Almighty God, the Ume Amechi, Ezeana Ihinede families and the Umu Mmara kindred of Amihe Ukpor in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State announce the peaceful transition of our illustrious son, father and grandfather, Chief Mbazulike Amechi (Dara Akunwafor), Nationalist and First Republic Minister of Aviation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who transitioned peacefully in the early hours of today November 1, 2022.

“We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives that he touched and his service to God and Country. We respectfully ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

Meanwhile, The PUNCH reported in 2021 that the wife of the first republic minister, Chinelo Amechi, died on July 23, 2021 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital at the age of 91, as announced by the family.

Ifeanyi Adeleke, the child of popular Nigerian musician Davido and his fiancee Chioma Rowland, passed away recently.
The three-year-old drown in a private swimming pool at the family’s residence in Lagos, according to a family source.

“The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital,” the family source said under anonymity to await an official statement. “By the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital it was already too late.”

Davido was seen teaching Ifeanyi how to swimearlier today, before Ifeanyi passed away.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was the centre of attraction at an event after he offered his seat to Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The dramatic incident took place at an event organised to celebrate the national award given to the President of the African Export-Import Bank, Prof. Benedict Oramah.

In a viral video, the former president was seen calling up Obi who was sitting at table nine, and then leading him to table one.

The switch was greeted with applause by the audience in attendance.

As he went forward to pick the former Anambra State governor from his former seat, Obasanjo said, “In the presence of Nigerians”.

After leading Obi to table one, he declared, “My job is done”.

It will be recalled that Obasanjo is yet to endorse a presidential candidate for the forthcoming poll with speculations wide that Obi might be his preferred candidate.

Prior to the event, the Labour Party flagbearer has been involved in a series of closed-door meetings with the former president.

Obasanjo also took part in Obi’s meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike and his group in London recently.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday, quashed the terrorism charge the Federal Government preferred against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

It discharged and acquitted him of the seven-count charge pending against him before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

However, the Minister of Justice, Malami has just issued a statement explaining that the discharge order from Appeal court does not affect the prior trial of treason which was ongoing before Kanu jumped bail and ran away from Nigeria in 2018.

Also, the AGF says he’ll explore all avenues to see that Nnamdi Kanu goes to jail.

This implies a possible appeal to the Supreme Court.

A former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari, has revealed that he was contacted by the Labour Party to become Peter Obi’s vice presidential candidate.

Shagari, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, said he declined the opportunity because he did not believe Obi stood a chance in 2023.

“The Labour party contacted me and requested if I would like to be the Vice Presidential candidate to Peter Obi,” the PDP chieftain said.
“And I looked at the political scenario, what Labour party is, and decided that I cannot be the Vice Presidential candidate to Peter Obi.
“I do not see the path through which Peter Obi will win the election in this country.


“It is so clear that in areas in the South-East, and young people are shouting about him on social media – yes, it’s politics.

“But the truth of the matter is that there are two dominant parties in this country – APC and PDP. If you want to become President, I think you must belong to one of them.”

Shagari also said zoning is not a constitutional matter as it is not provided in the nation’s constitution.

“it’s purely a party affair,” he said.

The Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has explained the reason for the delay in releasing his manifesto for the 2023 presidential election.

Obi explained that “he was waiting for the positions of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, before releasing his manifesto.

The former Anambra State Governor disclosed this while speaking with BBC.

The LP presidential candidate has been criticised for delaying the release of his manifesto for the 2023 presidential election.

But, the former governor shrugged off the criticisms, stressing that the country has a lot of ideas and documented policy programmes which had been rendered ineffective due to a lack of implementation and political will to do them.

Brighton midfielder Enock Mwepu has been forced to retire after being diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition.

The 24-year-old fell ill while on a flight to link up with his Zambia team-mates in the international break last month and returned to Brighton to undergo further cardiac tests after a period in hospital in Mali.

A statement from Brighton on Monday morning revealed that Mwepu would have an extremely high risk of suffering a "fatal cardiac arrest" should he continue playing competitive football.In a statement announcing his retirement, Mwepu revealed he is still planning to remain in football in some capacity after cutting short his career.

"A small boy from a Zambian township called Chambishi has some news to share," the midfielder wrote. "He stood strong to follow his dream of playing football at the highest level and by the grace of God he lived his dream by reaching the Premier League.

"Some dreams however come to an end, so it is with sadness that I announce the need to hang up by boots because of the medical advice I have received. This is not the end of my involvement in football, I plan to stay involved in some capacity."

"We are all absolutely devastated for Enock," said Brighton chairman Tony Bloom. "He and his family have had a traumatic few weeks and while we are just thankful he has come through that period, he has seen such a promising career cut short at such a young age.

"As a club we will give him all the love, help and support we possibly can to make a full recovery, and then as he decides on the next steps in his life."

One Yusuf Abubakar, 12, has been shot dead by his elder brother Abubakar Abubakar, while testing the efficacy of a newly prepared charm against gun shots.

The sad incident occurred on Sunday in Dutse Gogo Town,via Kaiama, in Kaiama local government area of Kwara state.

Today being the IRRUA market day was the best day to carry out this outreach as elderly men and women, as well as the young ones came in their numbers to benefit from the free medical outreach.

In addition to the medical exercise, we also entered the market to properly sensitize people on the need to get their pvc and vote accurately by identifying which is the labour party logo amongst the rest.

The exercise lasted for about five hours.

The Federal Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division, has overturned the judgment of the Federal High Court, Makurdi holding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from freezing the account of Benue State Government for the purpose of investigations, without a court order.



In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice M.S. Hassan on Thursday, September 22, 2022, the appellate court held that, the EFCC has powers to place any account, (state governments' accounts inclusive) on PND for 72hours, for the purpose of investigations, without a court order. The court also set aside the N50million damages awarded against the EFCC by the lower court.

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, says he will dialogue with every agitating group in Nigeria if elected president in the 2023 election.

Presently, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South-east and the Yoruba Nation agitators in the South-west are agitating for a breakaway from Nigeria.



“There’s agitation all over Nigeria. The first question you will ask yourself is, why the agitations? Why were no agitations years back? What happened suddenly?



“I will dialogue. I will negotiate. I will plead with all agitators for us to be one family. And start solving it by doing things based on justice. It is injustice and unfairness that bring all these. He added agitating doesn't give room for crimes and killing, that he doesn't condole it.

“There is agitation even in my house. If I do things wrongly my wife will agitate. That is why you negotiate and beg people. You don’t solve all these things by confrontation,” Mr Obi said in a video published by Njenje Media TV.

Agitation for breakaway in the regions of South-east and South-west, predominated by the Igbos and Yorubas respectively, has heightened in recent times.

A former Anambra governor, Mr Obi has garnered huge support across the country since he threw his hat into the ring on the platform of the LP.

Mr Obi, a frugal personality who is perceived as a better alternative to other candidates, is campaigning on making Nigeria a production economy and cutting the cost of governance.

He is up against Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar and a host of other candidates.

No fewer than 1,868 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of next year’s general elections.

This was contained in a statement issued by the state PDP spokesman, Malam Hassan Sanyinnawal, in Sokoto on Thursday.

According to Sanyinnawal, the defectors, who are businessmen from 10 communities across the state, were received by the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, in Sokoto on Wednesday.

He quoted Goronyo, who was represented by the party’s zonal Chairman, Sokoto Central, Alhaji Muhammad Dangoggo, as assuring the new entrants of equal treatment with other members of PDP.

The PDP Chairman promised to carry the new members along while calling on them to use their wealth of experience in politics and business activities to ensure the party’s success at the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Also speaking, the state PDP gubernatorial candidate, Malam Sa’idu Umar, welcomed the new members and promised to work closely with all of them toward the party’s success.
