Politics / Re: Ghosts Frustrating Me In Benue – Ortom Cries Out by malcom2x(m): 8:53am On Jul 03, 2017
swiz123:
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has declared that dead workers and some others who are supposed to have retired are still collecting salaries in his state, thereby frustrating his efforts.
He said the development had greatly increased the state’s wage bill to N7.9bn monthly, which he said was too much for his government to handle.
How I went from a 2mins man to 35mins man in Bed. Now I satisfy my woman - See Solution Here
Ortom said this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after attending a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja during the weekend.
The governor said although he was committed to timely payment of workers’ salary, this could not be achieved with the unsustainable wage bill.
He expressed the hope that a verification exercise, which will last three months, would bring sanity to the system.
Ortom said, “You will recall that I declared a state of emergency on payment of salaries, and I want to have the capacity to pay salaries as and when due because a worker deserves his wages.
“We discovered that there were so many leakages on our payroll and ghost workers and other infiltration here and there.
“I think that a wage bill of over N3.2bn is too much at the state level. And when you add pensions and gratuity, you are talking of about N4.2bn. It is too much for Benue State.
“At the local government, you have a wage bill of N3.7bn. So, if you are talking about N7.9bn for a state, it is not decent enough.
“Ghost workers, those who were due for retirement are still in the service, those who are dead are still collecting salaries and all that.
“So, we believe that at the end of the day, we will be able to scale down to a level that we will be able to pay salaries as and when due.

U are commenting out of context extremist in religion is high condemned but talking about what people voluntarily gave, offerring and church membership is never by force,no church that is based on CHRIST and d HOLY BIBLE will ever force U for anything ur comment is just frivolous and sentimental, offerring collection and giving should never be anybody bizness once d giver is nt complaning, d thread and ur comment is certainly out of hatred and jealous, we can condemn forceful offerring, but voluntary offerring should even never be mention. Pleas if U are to condemn or address issues, condemn issues that are detrimental like extremism, killing, hatred, terrorism, religious intolerance etc.

Dear Brother ProfHezekiah.
You said i could condemn extremism and all while this your act breeds such. Too much emphasis on giving does not guarantee salvation. Our worst politicians do give and does that justify stealing? such focus on salvation. Despite the number of churches We still top the list of corrupt nation. Such contrast though.

I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, I also think it's wrong to make a generalisation without having all the facts.

Your first point about giving is noted but those who give aren't complaining or not seeing the results of their giving. In the bible, it was recorded in many instances that some people gave their all to a course whether in the old or new testament. You give according to the measure you want. Nobody forces you to give above your means. God sees ur heart remember? And I know that in CE it has been said several times that you can give whatever you have.

On your second point, CE talks about sin but that isn't the church's main focus. The church teaches that if you focus on the word of God, you will learn to live above your fleshly desires. Focusing on sin isn't even scriptural. Please refer to Roman 6-8. CE never glorifies sin. Go and listen to his messages there are several of them on sin and living by the spirit. Furthermore, I find it amazing how ppl just want to believe the wrong things. The issue of masturbation which many have misconstrued is sad. The other pastors on the panel talked expressly on how to overcome masturbation which shows the church doesn't endorse it. Secondly, pastor Chris went further to say that it is not a sin but a habit. He said when you treat it as a habit, it breaks the power over you. Masturbation is a habit and can be overcome.

Lastly, it is contained in several verses of the bible that there's a gospel according to saint Paul, St Peter and so on. So I don't think when they say pst chris's msg that they mean something different or heresy.

I believe everybody should have a relationship with God and seek him personally then by his spirit you can discern rightly.

Thanks

I'm a witness to the much emphasis on the giving. And also wen pastors have to say one should saw seed with whatever they have that might lead away from God or they're no more making use of. They're collected and sold on auction. I witness that.
I don't have a problem with giving. Giving should be by faith. Not through a kinda continuous reminder that everything is tied to giving. I'm waiting for the day pastors will say NO MORE OFFERINGS AND TITHES, GIVE THEM TO THE POOR, HOMELESS AND ORPHANAGES AND YOUR REWARD BE IN HEAVEN. believe me most pastors will open orphanage homes.
It's not only by giving we receive God's blessing. We can by little gestures like assistance, respect for elders, love of God, community service etc.

About fornication and adultery by pastors, you can't just judge dem. We are humans like us prone to temptations but the lack of conscientizing themselves by trying to refrain its what i dont suppose is cool. That's why members should always pray for there spiritual leaders. It's not easy.

Church is now an avenue for money making. No more restrictions to the kinda things people put on to churches these days because another church might accept it and they'd lose such member which translates to a lot of money as banks loose money through on public holidays and also through bad customer care rep.
The best church is in ur heart. Dont be a die-hard fan to pastors but a son of God.

What do U intend to gain frm this rubbish, are those paying complain, U wouldnt mind ur bizness, just going everywhere to spread problem

No disrespect but its high time we approach alot of things logically with the rate at which they multiply. This is exactly what leads to extremism both in churches and in the mosques. We worship the pastors and imam instead of the God who works through them. Anything they says is infallible no matter the circumstance.
Tell me, if you were born in the Muslim and u parent are strong Muslims wouldn't you be one as well and condemn any act that will tarnish the faiths image? Same goes to the Muslims too, what if you were born into a Christian family?
Worse case, if it was in a very religious countries of the world, would you dare practice another faith? You'd most definitely find a reason to even be frevent and spread your religion.
We're All hypocritical about our faiths. Take it or leave. God will not accept your soul on the judgement day on the basis of your religious affiliations. Don't be surprise that most atheists will make heaven more than us. Live a good life and be helpful to one another rather than finding a dividing line between you and your fellow humans.
We human always find a way of creating a dividing line between ourselves. We created different races(blacks, whites, asians etc) even in this our black race that the two main religion were forced on us took it more seriously and deadly that the people that introduced them. We tend to form another dividing line. Even in Christianity we have the roman Catholic etc while in the Muslim world we have the shitte etc.
Finally, everything is now centred on money especially for the Christians. Wen money is involved, we tend to loose our moral standard. You cannot give to the poor beggars in the street but you can buy cars for pastor that can afford 5 square meal a day.
Finally, let us try and look beyond our differences and think logically in fighting this poverty in Nigeria with the highest number of churches in the world and the highest deposit of human and natural resources in Africa. Thanks.

In case you dont know.

The former Central Bank Governor, and Emir of Kano His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi the second , surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi.

Below is his edited speech by Ferhrook.
“There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing Nigeria.

Tribalism is not our problem. Tribalism and religion are artificial problems created by selfish leaders for their own personal interest.

There are only two major tribes in Nigeria.
The Elites and the Masses. Once you make lots of money, you belong to the elite tribe. When you are a commoner or suffering, you belong to the tribe of the masses.

If you are an elite, and you need more power, or elective position, you sow seeds of tribalism and religion among the masses, so as to sway their emotion for your personal victory. This happens at both the national and state level.

Unfortunately, after the election when they have won and joined their “sworn enemies” to drink and party, the gullible masses continue to fight each other.
Even smart people who belong to the masses, sometimes will sow seeds of tribalism and religion among the masses, and then the masses will carry them up until they belong to the elite class.

It is a classic strategy used over 3000 years ago in the art of war. A commoner who aspires to sit with the elites, could stir up powerful tribal or religious sentiments, such wave if properly utilized either by shedding blood or destabilizing the elites, carries the commoner to the elite class.

But once there, he immediately mingles and makes peace with the elite tribe, and turn his back on the same masses that helped him get there.
Youths are the worst victim of this powerplay, they kill each other, call other tribes unprintable names, do terrible things and sometimes, even lose their life, thinking they are fighting for their right, not knowing that they are fighting for the personal welfare of someone, whose own children are probably safe in America or London.

So youths, don’t hope on the government. If you don’t have a job, create one. There is abject poverty in the south as well as the north, whether Ogoni or Maidugri. At the same time, there is massive wealth in Lagos, Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba, Kano, Abuja, irrespective of zone.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it well and never remain idle. No job is too low for an idle hand, or else the devil will find work for you. As you become independent, and grow your capacity, do not lose hope in Nigeria.

We are the largest economy in Africa and soon the world will fear us. Western powers, don’t like big economies that threaten them, America will do anything to break china, but china is wise to resist that. china has 1.6 billion people, we have only 170 million, and we are talking of breaking.

china has 5 major religions which are Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam and Christianity. Nigeria has only 2 major religions, Christianity and Islam. Yet we claim that religion is our problem.

America, the strongest economy is comprised of every tribe in the world, since they accept anybody from any part of the world. Yet they are united and extremely patriotic. Nigeria has only 3 major tribes, and we claim tribalism.

Think clearly and deeply, and you will realize that empowering yourself is the best course of action, not fighting each other. And once the youths are empowered, they can begin to take back their future from the hands of the old and corrupt generation that has been blinding nigerians with hatred, while looting all her resources.

Sani Abacha’s loot is still stashed away in Switzerland, did he use it to develop the north? Those that stole billions under GEJ stashed it away in foreign banks, bought expensive toys, jets and foreign homes, are they using it to develop the south? Now the ones stealing currently, including the “grasscutters”, are looking for Ikoyi apartments, abandoned houses, and pit toilets to hide it, are they using it for the youths in their tribe? NO!

Youths shine your eyes ! Don’t always fall for this tribal, religious sentiments over and over again. Nigeria is bigger than these corrupt elites.

They are the problem, not the poor masses.

bigheadday:
Hi gurus in the house, I will be very grateful if you all can help me with information as to how to go about my admission and visa procurement to enable me study in New Zealand.
I just gained admission in Manukau Institute of Technology. The admission will be fully secured only after payment of tuition fee and other fees.
Please I just want to know the following:

1) Do I have to secure visa before making the payment (As refund of tuition fee is only 70%)?

2) Is there a possibility that visa would be granted without paying the tuition fee?

3) Session starts by October and the school wont tell me the time frame I have to make the payment as I want to use now till August end to gather some funds. Do I have that time long so I don't loose the admission?

4) Is there a possibility of securing a PR on completion of my one year study?

Please house, kindly assist me with info.... Sincere appreciations....

It is going be alot easier if you mail the admission office requesting for a letter of recommendation sort of. So u could present with your documents at the embassy. Besides, the school fees payment would give you a higher chance of securing your visa.

Almost every post i click on to read, i try to glance through the comments to see inputs of ideas but unfortunately, i see the abuses from all angles. Regardless of how crucial the post might be. The truth is that most of the people are highly disadvantaged and useless to their parents, ofcourse there are still unable to pay bride prizes or even take responsibility. POVERTY has eaten deep into their brains. Worst thing is that we have graduates among them still depending on their parents and can't think of some creative ideas or opportunities to help yourselves.
Wait for the federal government to feed and clothe you and your family. Why are we so backward and not progressing? The government steal our money and we find a way to justify it if the thief is from ur tribe. Then you fight yourselves online with the little data you could use to acquire knowledge from valuable sites. You really need to think about where you will be in the next5 years. Are you really caused or you're just trying by abusing yourselves? I wonder how you will feel in the next 10 to 20 years when you read our posts? Alot to say but i rest my case. Thanks

Good day everyone in the house,
I may not have gone through the whole thread but then pardon if this question has been addressed. My goes to those currently in UAE.
1. Did you process the visa yourself? What steps?
2. While in UAE with 3 months visa, where were you staying? Hotel or friend's place?
3. What is the cost of living? Such as house rent and bills
4. How come none of you have posted any picture of your workplace, chills n where you live? *Wondering* is it highly prohibited?
5. Can a nigerian open a bank account over there? Any means sending money home?
6. Is there any restrictions on the type of dress to be wore. Either to work or goes out.

Thanks alot in anticipation. Please dont be rude in your answers, im just weighing US and AUE options.
