PoliticsRe: 10 Nigerian States That Can't Survive Without Federal Allocation - TheCableIndex by malikberry100(m): 12:26pm On Feb 09, 2022
IGBOSON1:
I think the scandal here is how a state like Bayelsa take manage enter list!

True, it could be partly down to the large overheads and recurrent expenditure they incur, but i reckon a larger part of the reason is down to the overcentralised and unitary nature of the Nigerian economy, where their natural resources are owned and controlled by outsiders!
My brother bayelsa topping the list is very accurate I live in bayelsa and they have no companies,no factories,no industries, infact they don't produce anything the only thing they depends on is civil service job and politics and they pay their state workers with the monthly federal allocation. Bayelsa have crude oil but they haven't been investing the money into diversification so this has result to poor IGR in the state.

Going by the price of cement and inflation rate Toda, then we are going forward.
In 1982 the naira to dollar is #1 to $0.5.
Meaning if 40 bags is #1520, then 1bag is #38 or better still 19dollar.
$19 dollar to naira today is 7800.
In essence cement is actually cheaper today.
But our naira currency is very weak now meaning affecting those importing.

CareerRe: Choosing To Stay And Lobby For A Federal Job Or Travel Abroad For Studies by malikberry100(m): 6:32pm On Aug 18, 2021
It depends on the federal government job you are lobbying for and only a few federal government job starts you with a good pay most of the federal government job is just a waste of time cos they pay you peanut without any extra allowances, don't be decieve most federal government job is overrated they don't pay well and the growth is very insignificant. I'm not saying this to discourage you I'm saying it because I'm a federal government staff and its d fact, you can hardly do anything unless you take a loan cos d salary is small and can hardly save anything from it at d end of the month. I would advise you to travel abroad since you have sponsor or better still look for a good business to invest on in Nigeria if you have good capital.uote author=Oviebright post=104863068]I'm 24 years of age finished nysc and graduated a couple of years ago. Job searching but nothing tangible out of it.

I'm opportuned as my family members are ready to sponsor me to study abroad but we're not rich just a average Nigeria family who can raise funds to do it. But the thing is that I'm having double minds as to whether to lobby and pay for a federal government job or start making plans to leave naija but the problem is that the money is there but no connect there.

What do you think I should decide ON?

Whether to stay in naija and lobby for a federal job or Start making plans to go abroad? But the thing is that we can gather the money to buy a slot if possible but no connect.

CareerRe: Choosing Between Fg Job And Coca-cola Job by malikberry100(m): 10:50am On Aug 07, 2021
Bros you dey well at all FG that is broke and find it hard to even pay their workers salary they borrow money here and there to do everything na that kind job you want to settle for pls my advice for her is too settle for the coca cola job then save up and establish her self. With FG government you find it so hard to save because the pay is not even enough to cater for your needs, poor workers welfare, after promotion implentation takes time they even find it so hard to pay your arrears some times it takes years to get that money. FG job is overrated abeg you will be living in debts for the rest of your life. Aside d job security there's no money to live good life d job is for broke ass people who choose to remain broke for life.
uote author=newoffer post=104506553]If looting be your hobby. To me ooo coca cola make sense. Federal govt is broke.[/quote]

humilitypays:
lol, FG job.

Bros you get bad mouth Sha but you are not far from d truth. You are making point cos I'm a federal civil service worker na loan upon loan guy men take dey package then do some outside hustle if not FG job is another way to destroy your destiny.if you are not a patience person you may either be frustrated & force to resign or apply for a voluntarily retirement They don't pay well,no allowances,no bonuses only your monthly salary that wouldn't be enough to carry you for the whole month and the growth is very insignificant you may even be living in debts for the rest of your life. I will advice youth who has dream and aspiration not to settle for any FG job aside CBN, NNPC,DPR,FIRS, NCMDB all these are FG job that comes with extra allowances and bonus the rest others are overrated & modernize slavery with peanut salary that won't give you a decent life in Nigeria, infact you will be struggling to survive and you might be stagnant for a long time if you don't take a bold step. But as job no dey for Naija wetin man go do if you are even lucky to secure any government job you will be so excited.

If not for bribery, stealing and looting of public funds, you can never compare a permanent employment with Coca Cola with any Nigerian government job.

The only Nigerian government jobs that pay, are:

NNPC
CBN
FIRS plus they steal a lot

The rest are overrated, they make money mostly through doing corrupt office practices like collecting kickbacks, inflating prices, bribery, sorting money and all those dirty nonsense known in Nigerian government offices which leads them to becoming diabolical to outdo their colleagues or remain in good position.

If you are not ready to become corrupt, become a diabolic witchcraft or wizard that depend on high level juju, become a thief like all those working under Buhari and co, dont accept any Nigerian government job, it's a dirty job filled with corruption and office diabolism.

But at Coca Cola, you have job security once you are a permanent staff. Your growth depends on your performance at work not based on your tribe, religion and spiritual power.

If you are a youth that love your life and want to live a life of integrity, please run from anything Nigerian government job related, they are all dirty peanut jobs,.highly overrated.

They become rich by stealing and looting and doing stupid things.

If you cannot steal, loot and become highly diabolical and occultic while working in any Nigerian government job, then you will retire as a pauper.

Na corruption and public fund looting de make Nigerian government workers live large. Remove corruption and most of them are earning like house mayguards

PoliticsRe: "Minimum Wage May Not Be Ready By September" - Ngige by malikberry100(m): 9:04pm On May 29, 2018
actiondrilling:
The expectations of workers in the country getting a new national minimum wage by the end of September 2018 May not materialize after all as the government said on Tuesday that the September date was just a date to conclude negotiation on the issue of minimum wage.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige told newsmen at his residence in Abuja that the committee on the new National Minimum wage is expecting to conclude its work by the end of September and present its report to the government for deliberation and approval before an executive bill is sent to the National Assembly on the issue.

He said however that the issue of capacity to pay is also paramount in the deliberations on the minimum wage, pointing out that it was to get the input of all those concerned including state governments and the organised private sector that the committee embarked on zonal public hearing across the country.

The Minister said further that in the course of the zonal public hearings, many state governments made different submissions ranging from N22,000 monthly to N58,000,adding that the governors were also of the believe that foe the new minimum wage to become effective, the current revenue allocation formula will have to be reviewed in favour of the states and local government.

He said further that some other states are also of the view that the minimum wage should be maintained at the current N18,000 in view of the inability of some states to pay the current wages.

Senator Ngige said when the minimum wage committee concludes its report, it will be submitted to the National Council of State and the Federal Executive Council for approval before a bill is sent to the National Assembly to legalize the work of the committee.

He said even though it was not an easy task, the committee was making progress in its assigned responsibility, pointing out that it was in other to carry everybody, including the states and private sector along that six governors were elected to be members of the committee as well as representatives of the organized private sector.

On the threat non-teaching staff of universities to resume their suspended strike as a result of government failure to honour the terms of their agreement, the Minister said government was sourcing the N6 billion needed to pay them their earned allowances as contained in the agreement.

He said his experience as Minister of Labour said him that majority of about 95 percent of agreement currently being paraded by trade unions in the country were signed before the Buhari government came into office in 2015,adding that most of such agreements had no timeline for implementation.

He also said many of the agreement signed by the last government were not implementable because of the amount involved, adding that the principles of the International, Labour Organisation allowed employers to renegotiate agreements which they feel they cannot implement.

He said further that what is important in all collective bargaining agreement is the ability to pay what is being demanded and what is agreed upon.

He appealed to striking health workers to return to work while negotiations continue on their demands, pointing out that the delay in the implementation of their signed agreement was as a result of failure of the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission to defend the two different figure presented to a government high powered committee.

He said the committee has directed the commission and the Federal Ministry of Health to go back and recompile the figures for onward submission to the committee for deliberation.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan: I Am Ashamed Nigeria Used By Akufo-Addo As Negative Example by malikberry100(m): 11:33am On May 26, 2018
yns4real:
…warns Buhari not to use powers to weaken democracy

Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says he is ashamed that Nigeria is now being used as a negative example in the international community.

He cited recent instances when the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, mocked the poor state of security in Nigeria and the naira’s weakening status.

Jonathan spoke at the inauguration of the first bridge built by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Friday night.

The former President lamented that things were so bad in the country that Nigeria had lost its respect in Africa.

He said, “He (Ghanaian President) said Ghana is not like Nigeria where cattle roam the streets. At another occasion in the United Kingdom, he made scathing remarks about Nigeria’s currency.

“I feel ashamed as a former President that the president of a neighbouring country used Nigeria as negative examples.

“If a neighbouring African president will use Nigeria to make negative examples, then we as leaders must know certain things are wrong in the country. That means we as leaders must change the way we do things.”

The former President, therefore, urged Nigerian leaders to show serious concern, noting that many things had gone wrong in the country.

Jonathan also advised President Muhammadu Buhari to resist pressure to rig the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State and subsequent elections in the country.

He praised the people of Ekiti for their support for the Peoples Democratic Party, urging them to support the youthful candidates of the party in the election.

The party has elected 50-year-old Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, and 39-year-old Deji Ogunsakin as his running mate.

Jonathan described Fayose as an exemplary leader and loyal party man, who had done the PDP proud in all areas.

He said, “I don’t believe anybody can defeat the PDP in Ekiti if election is going to be held.”

He said, “I use this opportunity to call on Mr. President because I was there before. When you are there, there is so much pressure on you to use your power to subjugate democracy.

“Don’t do that because when you are going; the only thing you leave behind is your good name. If you use it wrongly, posterity will haunt you. I call on Mr. President to use his power to strengthen democracy.”

Jonathan also defended Nigerian youths, saying they were one of the best in the world and should not be branded lazy as recently remarked by Buhari.

“We must encourage young people to work hard. I don’t think Nigerian youths are lazy, I have worked with some of them in my cabinet as governor and president. Nigerian youths are great people with intelligence,” he said.

At the event, Governor Ayodele Fayose said the 77-member election committee raised by the All Progressives Congress for the Ekiti governorship election showed the desperation of the party to win at all costs.

“I will defeat them by the grace of God,” he said.

Pls were exactly is this second niger bridge located @ cos me i hve been driving through dat route anytime im leaving asaba,is it close to first niger bridge, pls i need an answer fellow nairalanders.
15Ebisco:
The Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has said that the Federal Government has put in place workable funding mechanism, to ensure the Second Niger Bridge is completed.

Fashola stated this on Saturday, when he visited the site of the project at Oko near Asaba in Delta state.

The former Lagos Governor said the modified tax credit policy, the Sukuk Intervention Fund and the Presidential Infrastructural Fund, among others, were aimed at funding infrastructure projects that would make the country globally competitive.

“By my assessment, the piling work is now about 50 per cent.

“At the time I resumed work at the ministry, only the bridge was designed and work had stopped, but because of the commitment of the president, work has commenced.

“For the foreseeable future, I don’t see any reason why work will stop again because funding has been provided,” Fashola said.
