Certification And Training AdvertsRe: Be Oracle Certified by malone5923(m): 2:35pm On Jul 20, 2008
Fellow Nairalanders,

Please let's try to be generous. The youths need empowerment and if we the youths keep hiding knowledge from each other, then Nigeria will not meet the 2020 technological goal.My internet is slow, but when it comes up i will download it(oracle 10g dumbs) and publish it on this page for everybody that needs it.In USA they have sites for freebies, those that publish it did not necesarily got it free, some buy it just to publish it for those who can't afford it.That is why everything works in USA because their youths are empowered.
So you want to paste dumbs on the site and for some reson you think thats a good thing right. I was going to post somthing offensive but I dont care anymore.
ComputersRe: How Do I Password My System To Request For A Password To Boot/@ Boot Time. by malone5923(m): 8:50pm On Jul 18, 2008
Set a BIOS password dude
Its not a good idea to use bios password because an authorized user only has to remove the bios in your system and your password is gone. grin
ProgrammingRe: Rich Internet Applications - What Do They Mean? by malone5923(m): 8:43pm On Jul 18, 2008
I have never been confused as a programmer. What really is the meaning of Rich Internet Applications? Did Macromedia just cook up this word to support Flash marketability or what? Does it mean an application running in the browser to make full use of the internet ot it means a desktop app that also makes full use of the net?

I'm currently developng a desktop appliation for my team (Bolton Wanderers, sorry i m a bolton fan) for fans al over the world to use, and of course it would make use of the net, would it be called an RIA too or would iTunes be called an RIA too?

iIn programmings, acronyms cud sometimes be confusing
I think its means using the full features of web 2.0 and web 3.0 and making your web application looklike and uses all the api that were primarily developed for desktop application(thats what I think).

It took you nearly two years to understand it.
This guy is so funny, 2 years to reply a post probably the guy is a grandpa with a snail shaped hand so it will take more than 6 months to type 10 characters like S(takes 2weeks) L(4 months) O(1 month) W(1 week).

How many people have u seen. Do u know people get the dumps and still fail?
Yes, there is passforsure and it contains over 200 questions and answers funny enough it is the exact replica of an scjp exam so if can pass the dumps you most definately will pass the actual exam reason why question based exams seem valueless to me
ProgrammingRe: Which Is Best For Web Programming, Php Or Java Or Both by malone5923(op): 4:25pm On Jul 14, 2008
If your plan for web development is to connect to an EIS and do some few SQL query for your frontend and a good presentation layer, then PHP will do just fine. My opinion.

We have what we called middleware software. PHP will be a good solution for that in correlation to web development. On the other hand if you are planning for ES (Enterprise Systems) like SAP, Java would be my recommendation. You would need to learn J2EE though. Learning JSP is not enough for J2EE.

J2EE has about this list of technologies to learn:

1. Java
2. JSP
3. Servlet
4. JSF
5. XML
6. JavaBean
7. JDBC
8. HTML
9. Javascript
10. CSS
11. SOAP
12. JavaMail
13. Java Message Service
14. EJB
15. JCA
16. JavaIDL
17. Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI)
18. Java RMI/IIOP
19. Java Transaction Services (JTS) and Java Transaction API (JTA)

All these for developing Enterprise Web Application and related Web applicatopm
Thanks for your advice sbucareer I think I will go for java since I already have foundation experience with enterprise application
On a Second thought I think I will learn both because with that I have an added advantage

malone5923,

Asfar as I know all the current codes above are fully debugged and fully functional. Copy and paste it in a text editor like Notepad or WordPad and save them as .java respectively and run.
As I said earlier I dont have a compiler right now but I will appreciate it if you post the executable file I only have a runtime. Thanks.

Just want to share this piece of code with Java enthusiast. It is about Desktop programming. Mind you this code is not compiled or tested. It was typed directly onto the forum message editor. If it doesn't compile when you copy and paste it, you would need to debug it.

Sbucareer or javaprince if is not going to be much of a problem, can you please type the errors you might have received for the first code I just want to know if I can debug it. I should have done it myself but the computer I am currently using doesnt have a compiler.
Well if is going to be a problem I can always wait till I get home and use my own computer(which has a compiler).

ProgrammingRe: Need Advice Pls ! by malone5923(m): 12:57pm On Jul 10, 2008
Just like one of the poster to your thread said

Get a degree to help your move up through the ranks faster
and get a better pay for your self ,

A university degree is good if u know what u want to do
before u get in , If u want to become a programmer
then the best course to do is computer science because don't let me
deceive you computer science will expose to a lot and the hiden thins about computers
and the various areas to explore, It will also build your analytical & logical minds and makes
u more broadminded in IT rather than just being a 'programmer!', with a computer science degree
you can rise to management position of any IT/Telecoms company in the industry.

When u finally get to the university in Nigeria or Abroad you have toi help yourself a great deal
don't get caried away by what u're taught in the skul, learn many thins and do some certifications
to help you,

Dont mind those people that are saying a degree is not worth, it is worth more than get a good job
look at the country politics , it is the turn of the Degree hoolders, Doctors, Engineers and Scientist
its no more a game for crooks and illiterates.

Moreso not everyone can pay 400,000 naira for a course in NIIT and the likes
Who said NIIT is the only mean of becoming a efficient developer and why does everthing 80% of you nairaland programmers have to be about getting a good job, why cant you just do it for the love. That is why we will never grow because everybody wants to work for somebody and earn change then after spending 10 years he/she sets up is company then start erarning chicken change upgraded to two, why cant you just sit down and be creative and do some thing that helps the country and does not already exist and you all call yourself developers yet you rely on readymade things when you are asked what projects have you being involved you say payroll system etc, how many of you have being involved in the development of a new method or syntax in sun java community or something new. This is just my point of view and this those not mean I am the best developer I am still a beginner in programming(who is willing to learn more).

ProgrammingRe: Defend Your Programming Language by malone5923(m): 8:24am On Jul 10, 2008
Programming Language: JAVA.
Why the hiss? All I asked was a simple question, why do you think your language is superior to others?

Your name obviously depicts that u're a java addict, so tell me what you can do with java that I can't do with .NET.
Try portability for starters.

@ Akolalawole

I am guessing you are trying to defend Nigerian Educational system but you just messed it up yourself withyou last comment I quote"No matter what, computer science graduates must be able to do simple programming" 4 years + strike and all you can brag about is atleast they can do a simple program, your first term in University should give enough enlightment to develop a simple program(not after 4 years)

@javalove
I have to tell you the truth NIIT(dont Know of Aptech) books are not updated regularly and lack enough information to enable theire students develop complex programs moreso they have students for teachers though NIIT is a good start but is not a halfway end. I guess you went to NIIT and after finishing you must have covered the java how to program series book.

meeennnn, i'm so happy i have met my likeminds.

don't be decieved my brother. u have to live your own world, define the rules and abide by them. u set your own laws for success and believe in them. I would not tell u to opt out or not but don't be carried away by the certificate ish thing naija is known for. all u need is skill as a programmer not pali.

i have once been in your shoes and meenn i didnt think for long, what i did? i didnt even bother attending Cheesy Smiley. Dem call family meeting for my head but all na opata. this was way back in 2001. instead i attended NIIT and did a 2and a half years course and i bet you my father is soooo proud of me today. Java don carry me go places wey graduate no fit enter.

If you have a dream, pursue it. if u need a pali to achieve the dream, remain in school. if u don't, men get out this minute,

check www.jajitech.net to find out more,
Thank God I met you I had and still have the same problem, my family, friends and some individuals has being bugging me about the school issue though I have pointed all my ambitions to them still never seem to understand even my closest friend is calling me a failure cry, but still is not as bad as yours(java prince) calling a Family meeting for you thats massive grin and look at you now from your comments you have being given and can proudly say that you are better than most of all the processor in Nigeria who still use jdk1 for compilation. Why does everybody thinks I wont succeed they all say " go to university and get a good job" why does everything have to be about a good job. That why they will all waste there 4(univetsity) +1(Nysc)+1(Strike) and some stupid hopefulls 2 years(Masters) wasting their time learning Fortran(God dont even get me started on the rubbish they teach this students).
Destiny follow your dreams and join the world of programming I have being programming for 2 years(only got serious about It Six months ago) but still I will never regret my decision for not attending any University in Nigeria

Warning: If you havent being involded in proogramming desting better try it out first so that you know what you venturing into if not you might regret your actions. huh

ProgrammingRe: Pros, Help Me Upload Image With Java by malone5923(m): 12:25am On Jul 08, 2008
I've added a full source code of my picture viewer, compile it and run it. You can modify the code and extract the source code you need for your image uploading. This implementation is better than the one suggested by the earlier post which determines the image before runtime. This one will show you a file chooser so that you can select the image you want to see. but it contains some bugs left for you to tackle so that you can improve(i did not add an image observer) so if the image is not properly rendered, maximize and minimize the window. happy coding,

Yes you shouldn't, if you want Nigeria I.T to grow give them a direct link to where they can buy books or what shops they can get good books. This links you are given out are someone's hardwork. I am not rich neither do I get any thing I want but if I want a very good book I buy it, its quite sad Nigerian dont use that word 'buy' instead they prefer 'free', free ebook download, free game download free everthing.
