CrimePolice Shoot Construction Worker by mamagee3(op): 10:26pm On May 15, 2010
A construction company worker, Akwa Jacobson, who was allegedly shot in his left leg by a trigger-happy cop, for laughing at him, has appealed to the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, and the governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to come to his aid.

Jacobson, who was groaning in pains as he narrated his ordeal to Daily Sun, said there was no longer money for medical treatment. He recalled how he was sitting in front of his compound, discussing with some friends before the incident occured.

He said as they were joking and laughing, a mobile policeman alighted from the bus and started discussing with another mobile policeman, who was riding a motorcycle.

He revealed that the policeman on the motorcycle, later walked towards them and accused them of laughing at him. “We were surprised at his allegation because we did not know him before. We explained to him that we had no reason to laugh at him, as we had not met him before,” he said.

He said the policeman held his shirt and insisted that he must follow him or be dealt with. But the victim said he resisted the attempt to drag him out of the place. At that point, the cop allegedly took the pistol from his colleagues waist and attempted to hit the butt on his head. “I started running, but as I was about to jump over the gutter, he shot at my leg. I am not a criminal, I was not accused of any criminal act. He only accused me of laughing at him. When did laughing become a crime,” Jacobson asked.

He said he was later rushed to the Mainland General Hospital, where he was treated, adding that he left the hospital for a herbal home, as he had no money to continue treatment at the General hospital.
The victim has, however, appealed to the police to save his life and bring to book, the trigger happy policeman.

The man said he had since been incapacitated by the gunshot wound, as he is now unable to stand on his legs. “I now live on charity because I can’t get up from my bed and people are becoming fed up in assisting me.”

However, the state police spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, said the case was under investigation. He told Daily Sun that the officer had been arrested and undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

CelebritiesWhy 9ice's Marriage To Tony Payne Broke Down by mamagee3(op): 10:14pm On May 15, 2010
Facts are beginning to emerge on why hip-hop artiste 9ice and his wife, Tony Payne broke-up. The showbiz couple who announced their break-up via a press statement from 9ice’s publicist in January 2010, got married on Thursday July 17, 2008 after Ruggedman introduced the couple in 2006.
Before they broke-up, the couple was seen as the ultimate couple owing to their rising profile in their choosing profession.

9ice was collecting awards and smiling to the bank as his music found favour in the market while Tony who has been around the industry as make-up specialist, designer, and artistes manager was getting well-deserved accolades. Not a few predicted that they were meant for each other for life; but they shocked us all when they announced they were going their separate ways. Expectedly rumours started flying around as many said 9ice dumped his wife after making money. Others said he was beating his wife and chasing other women.

Almost everybody was on Tony’s side. But after the release of 9ice’s album, Tradition, people started pointing accusing fingers at Tony Payne and Rugged Man as true causes of their breaking-up. People alleged 9ice caught her in bed with a friend of his as the lyrics in his song, Once beaten twice shy suggested. In the song, 9ice said he caught a lover giving his friend fluting. Tongues started wagging and people alleged it was Ruggedman the singer was referring to.

But we can reveal that the couple broke up because 9ice later heard that Tony had dated lots of people in the music industry without telling him. A source in the music industry revealed that before their marriage, Tony dated quite a number of prominent musicians and one particular producer but failed to tell 9ice. Unknown to 9ice she had also dated some of his friends too and it was not until after a year into the marriage he discovered. The incident led to constant arguments and eventually ended their marriage.

Immediately after their breaking-up, radio DJs decided not to play 9ice’s music in solidarity with Tony, because most of them knew her before 9ice and felt 9ice kind of used her to get necessary contacts to advance his career and dumped her. They said the story that she dated lots of people in the industry before marrying him was an open secret and accused 9ice of knowing long before the marriage.

They refused to play his music for long fuelling a talk that the new album was a flop even after the CD had sold over two million copies. It took 9ice’s management all the efforts to stem the tide and the introduction of Gbamu Gbamu’s video worked for him and the public is loving his songs again.

Tony was said to have sent a text to ID Cabasa, a close friend of the family claiming 9ice used her to climb the ladder of success and dumped her. Cabasa in a conversation with us said he did not receive any text as he only got to know about their breaking-up in the papers. “My brother, I don’t want to say anything on this matter because I got to know about their separation in the paper like everybody. I have asked questions and I did not get any response. As per the text from Tony, I did not receive any text” he said.

In a conversation with Tony’s publicist, Adebola Williams, he said she does not want to say anything about it, because she wants to protect their song as whatever she says would affect 9ice a great deal and she doesn’t want to pull down a brand she helped build.

9ice has been accused of unnecessarily fuelling the rumour of alleged affair between Ruggedman and Tony by not coming out to clear the air on the matter. His cronies have insisted despite several attempts that mum is the word for them.

Christianity EtcRitual Church: Founder's Body In Morgue 5 Years Later, Members Worship Skeleton by mamagee3(op): 10:10pm On May 15, 2010
Has the world eventually entered the “last days” as prophesied in the Bible, the holy book for Christians? Maybe, if the activities of some so-called Christians are anything to go by. According to II Timothy 3-7: “In the last days, perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.”

The holy book further states that in the last days, men would have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof and men will ever be learning, and will never be able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
The story is hardly believable but it is true that about five years after the death of a pastor, members of his church still worship his skeleton because of their faith in the efficacy of his powers.
To members of the church, late Jacob Adebayo Oladele, who was the founder, Millennium Gospel Church (MGC), remains powerful even in death.

In February 2010, the police stormed the premises of MGC located at an abandoned aerodrome in a vast forest at Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, following a tip-off by the monarch of the town, Alayemoore of Ido-Osun, Oba Adedapo Adeniyi Sapoyoro. The monarch, who said the palace had been inundated with series of allegations of high-handedness and weird worship style of the church members, led a team alongside the police to the church where a purported skeleton of the church’s founder was recovered.

The police arrested 15 suspects while people of the town warned the church members never to return to the land, which belongs to the government. Sunday Sun gathered that five of the suspects are still standing trial at an Osogbo Magistrate Court. Members of the church however insist that they are not ritualists and never killed anybody or performed any ritual in the church.

One of those standing trial, Mrs Florence Oluwaloni Oladele, who is the deputy founder said: “We are not ritualists. We worship our Lord Jesus Christ like every Christian. The skeleton belongs to our founder. Truth shall prevail and we will be vindicated. This is a test of our faith and members should be steadfast and more prayerful.”

Head, Pathology Department at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECHTH), Dr Akinwumi Komolafe, confirmed the presence of the skeleton in the morgue, but said the police did not present a request for tests to be carried out on the skeleton. He said the hospital authorities would keep the skeleton until it receives further directive from the police.

It was however gathered that some of the church members have been visiting the mortuary in order to worship the late founder who they described as their Messiah. “Before stopping them from coming to see the skeleton, some who came were practically worshipping the skeleton. They rolled on the ground, shouting his name, weeping, wailing and appealing to him to answer their prayers. They are fanatical about him and if care is not taken and the skeleton remains in the mortuary more than necessary, they may go wild and take steps to recover it. The mortuary needs more security,” a source at the hospital warned.?

When contacted, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Solomon Olusegun, said the “case is in court.”
But a police source said: “The skeleton may soon be released to the members since nobody had come forward with a claim that his/her relation was missing.”

“Apart from the skeleton, police did not find any other human or animal part at the church. Initially, we were made to believe that more bodies were going to be recovered from the church like that of the infamous Okija Shrine. None was found apart from the skeleton. However, all theories pointed to the fact that the skeleton belongs to the church founder. You know how fanatical some people could be with living or dead founder of their faith.

“The skeleton will soon be released for burial. At least, the man should be allowed to rest in peace. We still appeal to people who may have contrary information about the church to volunteer it to the police.”
At press time, police authorities were in confusion over what to do with the skeleton even as the hospital management anxiously awaited the collection of late Adebayo’s skeleton for burial because according to them, “the mortuary is meant for dead bodies and not skeleton.
