Ok, they start as early as 6 months here but must be a trained coach. Not just daddy and mummy can swim and they take the child along. Kids can just explore with anything and everything they have seen someone doing.

My kids were jaundiced at birth and we never used hospital treatment in both cases

How old is this baby? Jaundice is not something you should joke with. It requires all emergencies I'm the newborn. I have 4 kids, 3 has Jaundice, Neonatal Jaundice. My first 2 were on admissions and under photocare for 8 days each, in fact, the first had his naming ceremony at the hospital, the second had her naming ceremony after discharge from the hospital. Now, the 3rd had exchanged blood transfusion twice. Since I started ANC, for the 3rd pregnancy, I kept singing it to the Consultant, the midwives, the nurses, that all my babies had aundice. So, after delivery, we were discharged and preparing for home, then the HCA who was feeding the child said she noticed Jaundice on the baby, next thing, blood test, and they didn't return the child to my bedside. What I saw again was an ambulance from a more superior hospital to where I work. They didn't even gain my consent before they picked her, the ambulance came with a Consultant Neonatologist, a senior Neonatal nurse and another ambulance team member. This child had her blood changed (EBT) twice in less than 48 hours but I thank God she's fine. Milestone is superb.

You know my fear, if the Jaundice enters the baby's brain, it can turn them to vegetable.

So, please, take that child to the hospital. I'm a Christian, I pray a lot but I love adding knowledge to my faith. I also know that Luke was a Physician. I pray, I work, I allow health workers to do their jobs.

Inasmuch as there is hierarchy in hospitals, that does not mean you can't discard sharp objects that might hurt the person who came to clean it.

It's not the responsibility of a Nurse or a cleaner to remove used sharp objects for doctors
Anyone who uses a material used learn how to discard it properly, life goes on

Exactly...sometimes this year, a sharp managed to get its way into the orange bag and pricked a domestic staff while she was packing. Well it was a huge incident here, it was cascaded to hospital governance team and see mails flying everywhere.

Majority want to enjoy abroadlike care in naija but we don't want to put in the commitments and humility that makes it happen.

In that same OAUTHC, a consultant had insisted on not just discarding the waste she used but rinsing equipments up before other professionals would do the cleaning up and send for sterilisation. That's someone who knows what handling of wastes generated entails as a health professional.

It is the duty of the person who generates a waste to discard it...this OAUTHC one now still happened to be an hazardous one at that.

Is anyone employed to wipe people's asses when they use toilets?
If you use a face mask you should dispose it yourself. If you use sharps you should discard appropriately.
I am not commenting on the incident above because I do not think we have all the facts but employing cleaner to clean up after doctors is a bizarre suggestion

God bless you jare. To even say they pull in strike actions because of that thereby jeopardising people's care on top of that. That level of insensitivity and lack of compassion is so wrong.

That's not the role of a cleaner.

WHO said whoever generates waste must discard it. In my practice outside Nigeria, I've never witnessed a doctor or nurse generate any waste and ask cleaners to wipe off. It is all shades of wrong. I've never seen a doctor waited on me to bring case notes or organise equipments for them to use. Just show them where the items are. It is disheartening to see these kind of rubbish from doctors and nurses and patients suffering.
