Politics / Saraki Denies His Own Money To Escape Arrest? (full Details) by mandhi(m): 5:29pm On Dec 07, 2015
DSS Robbery Scandal: agents stole money meant for Senate President Saraki; Cover-Up Tricks
The Department of State Security (DSS) has issued a release disclosing that some its agents took part in the robbing of a Bureau De Change in Abuja. Curiously, the agency’s release, which was signed by a spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, failed to provide details of the robbery, apparently in an effort to cover up the ultimate ownership of the stolen money, according to SR.

However, an independent investigation has confirmed that the robbery took place on November 20, 2015 near the home of Senate President Bukola Saraki in Abuja.

Saraki had frequently used bureau de change agents to carry out money laundering
since his days as governor of Kwara State, a fact detailed in police reports of his money laundering activities.

Sahara Reporters learnt that when Saraki needed some cash with which to bribe judges handling his numerous challenges to his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Bureau, he often called on bureau de change agents to help transport the cash, sometimes after converting it to foreign currency, which is much easier to move around.

Our reliable sources, in confirming Saraki’s part in the bizarre heist, said the DSS had yet to determine the exact amount of cash Saraki was trying to raise at the time of the robbery, but they insisted it was in Billions of Naira.

A source familiar with the DSS investigations said the agency’s operatives attached to the Senate President were always aware of the senator’s procurement and movement of cash. However, on this occasion, Saraki decided not to use his DSS agents to escort the cash, since he feared “all eyes were on him and on some of his details, too.” Instead, the bureau de change operator was to make his own arrangement for police officers to accompany him as he moved the cash to Saraki’s home.

Unknown to both Senator Saraki and the bureau de change operator, the senator’s security detail had a plan of their own. They recruited some of their colleagues, including army Captain Hussein Ishaku Mshelia, to waylay the bureau de change operator on his way to Saraki’s home. The robbers stole the money by staging a perfect "sting operation". The security agents who carried out the heist were dressed in DSS camouflage and strategically positioned themselves in and around Saraki's house.

When the delivery vehicle was about five minutes away from Senator Saraki's house, several heavily armed men dressed in DSS vests and military camouflage struck and rounded up the bureau de change operators conveying the money. The agents reportedly told the bureau de change operators that they were under arrest for money laundering, specifically for moving such a huge amount of cash without any evidence of official transaction. The three policemen hired by the bureau de change operators left as soon as the armed interceptors presented identity cards that showed that they were truly DSS operatives.

As soon as the police escorts left, convinced that the DSS agents were truly on official assignment, the armed agents, among them some DSS operatives attached to Saraki, told the bureau de change operators that they knew where the money was being moved to and aware that the deal was illegal.

When the main bureau de change operator telephoned Saraki to report his trouble, the senate president was said to have instructed him not to mention his name at all. But Saraki did not know that some of the agents who had planned and executed the interception and heist were his security agents. Our source said Saraki initially thought the security men who had caught the bureau de change operator were from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Thereafter, the DSS agents who planned the operation originally demanded N350million in order to let the vehicle conveying the cash to move on. After much negotiation, they were paid N310million.

Shortly after the robbery, the suspects were identified and detained at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. Some of the suspects, confirmed to be SSS personnel attached to Senator Saraki, have undergone several interrogations. Sahara Reporters learned that, as a result of the heist, Senator Saraki’s DSS detail, including his chief security officer, named Paul, and chief detail, named Abdulrasheed Ahmadu Maigari, had been reassigned to the DSS headquarters. Another set of DSS agents have been deployed to Saraki.

Saraki, who enjoys a cozy relationship with the Director General of DSS, Musa Lawal, personally contacted the DG to request the return of Paul, the senator’s erstwhile CSO. A source within the agency told Sahara Reporters that, despite the senator’s request, both Mr. Paul and Mr. Maigari remained at the headquarters where they also underwent interrogation before the DSS released some names today.

The DSS press release, which was authorized by the DG, was instructive in its omission of crucial details, including the date, time and location of the robbery. According to SR, the omissions were designed to conceal Saraki’s role as the recipient of the stolen funds.

Stop with this sort of whining, already. Unless you can show me one country whose problems were solved by Allah. It is we the people that must say enough is enough, that if Buhari does nothing about the vermin we will march in the streets and chase him out of Aso Rock before descending on these people as well as corrupt judges. Allah has given us the brains to solve our problems, if we won't use them, we're on our own.
I don't know if you believe in ALLAH or GOD presumably but there is a quotes in the Qura'an which says stand up and help yourself before I can help you. You can not sit down and do nothing and expect something to happen miraculously. What dis mean is we got to fight back before ALLAH can help us.

The video opens with one Mr. Ekpo and his wife who were shot by policemen for not paying N200 bribe. His wife dies but he survived.
How will people like this ever get justice?
For last 20min, that I watched the video, that is what I have been thinking of, and the only possible solution is routing out corruption and prosecution of corrupt leaders.
We need to be serious about this and make sure this gov't does the right thing.

In Nigeria, where corruption is part of daily life, police officers routinely demand bribes, local government leaders pocket money meant for schools and the former national security advisor is accused of stealing billions from the military. As part of a week-long series "Nigeria: Pain and Promise," special correspondent Nick Schifrin reports on the challenges of fighting corruption.

I have never said this before but am going to now because I shed a bit of tears in my eye for the trip cycle drivers family. Was mostly touched by his children future. Sambo and co most, and I repeat most be fully investigated and prosecuted.
If Buhari does not jail and fight corruption or try to fight corruption, prosecute promoters of ethnic violence for selfish purpose May ALLAH never forgive him, because this video clearly made me u/stand one thing. Our whole problem in Nigeria can be solved by routing out corruption.

May ALLAH give him the strenght to position Nigeria on the fight track to development, give him wisdom to judge fairly and strengthen our inter relationship across, faith, religion, ethnicity and region.
May grant us peaceful co-existence between regions. Ameen ameen.

Whoever gave this woman that title couldn't have been right you know. How did they know that someone did not drive a car before her and was not captured. I can understand that of the first woman to fly a plane because planes were very few in the country at that time and people would definitely notice if one flew a plane. Especially if it's a woman.

I think mainly because she is the only one then to drive it to a public building, place or ministry. And trust it would make a resounding awe for men I'm those public, place, office and ministry. Considering not all men in those places could drive, even the older once. Not like our modern day where even a 9 year might know how to drive.

Funny enough, Un security council declared world war 3 this week, citing if 5 or more countries are at war. It's a full blown world war.

GOD Help us.
The problem is if this goes into full scale war. These two power house would be looking for support from developing nation. Bringing them into the war.

Must we Nigerian continue to compare both of them. It's not about them but Nigerians that needs liberation from the corruption. Not PMB vs GEJ. Am getting increasingly irritated by this nonsense loyalty to both of them. We should instead show loyalty to ourselves believing we can make them do the right thing. Not generating topics that compared them both.

on the other hand, PMB promised to destroy BH under 3 months as president but has failed to even meet up with his reset deadline.

politicians will tell you what you want to hear during campaigns but do otherwise while in power. bro, they are all same PMB or no PMB, a politician is a politician chikena!!!

Maybe, but still giv the benefits of the doubt. It's reasonable enough to know the gov't is trying to clean up mess that has been created, but still giv the benefit of the doubt before criticisms. Let the deadline elapse. Before categorising.

It's easy to destroy and harder to build. That been said, it took the PDP 16years to destroy the institutions in Nigeria. How long do you think it would take to build these institutions back. It baffles me when people expect the president to just shake the magic wand and everything is in place. The gold institutions lagos have did not just happen by magic wand it took them 16 good years for the state to be recognise as a mega city. So pls let's always try to put the gov't on it toes but should not expect magic, as it's only temporary and does not last. It's better to plan and put institutions back to other. So we can enjoy lasting good governance. Imagine if a Governor yuguda coming to contest for the sit of governance in lagos state and see if lagosian would vote such a person. The high IQ level of expect governor of lagos state makes it difficult for any politician to begin to think of commissioner let alone lagos state. Strong institution put in place.
