Politics › Re: 2027 Wont Be About Tinubu Failure, It Is About Stopping Obi At All Costs by manmade(m): 6:53am On Jul 07 |
In my view, Peter Obi has not demonstrated that he has practical solutions to Nigeria's challenges. I see him as someone whose rhetoric has not been matched by a convincing roadmap for governance. Compared to former President Buhari, I believe he would perform no better, and I also question his willingness to make difficult and politically costly decisions.
Meaningful reforms require courage, political will, and the willingness to make difficult decisions despite public criticism. In my opinion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown more of those qualities through the reforms his administration has pursued. While reasonable people may disagree about the outcomes, I believe Nigeria's long-term progress depends on leaders who are prepared to take tough decisions rather than simply make attractive promises.
A good student of history would understand that countries such as China endured periods of severe economic hardship and international ridicule before achieving rapid development. Through sustained policy reforms, long-term planning, and determined leadership over many years, China transformed itself into one of the world's largest economies and a major global power. My belief is that genuine national transformation requires patience, consistency, and leaders who are prepared to pursue difficult reforms in pursuit of long-term progress. |

I wan know the man I think the real question we should be asking is: Who did this to your brain? Please don't use this kind of reasoning to raise children. If Aliko Dangote had waited for Nigeria to start manufacturing vehicles before deciding to build a refinery, do you honestly think the Dangote Refinery would exist today? Progress comes from people who identify opportunities and invest in solving problems—not from waiting for every other sector to develop first. Sometimes, one major investment becomes the catalyst that drives growth in many other industries. |

This kind of rise from grass to grace could only happen under the administration of Jagaban of Africa, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Imagine if Bola Ahmed Tinubu had demanded ₦10 million from every governorship aspirant before allowing them to contest—as some people have alleged against others. Where would this man have found ₦10 million to pay just to contest for the office? , there's always a big difference between the one taking advice from a mad person and the person taking advice from the normal people. |

Politics › Re: Presidency Panics As Another Bribery Scandal Engulfs Chief Of Staff Gbajabiamila by manmade(m): 7:15am On Jul 03 |
Bobloco: Mr Gbajabiamila is not new to bribery scandals. In 2021, Mr Gbajabiamila was among lawmakers accused of taking $2 million in cash bribes each to pass the petroleum law.
President Bola Tinubu’s administration has come under scrutiny over allegations made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, the director-general of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), implicating the chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, in an appointment-for-cash scandal.
Peoples Gazette had on Monday reported that Mr Adeyemi alleged during a press conference last week that Mr Gbajabiamila received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment, while also requesting 48 per cent of the PFIPC’s N27.4 billion take-off grant, a request he said he rejected.
As details emerged, the situation has created panic inside the presidential villa, prompting presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga to release a statement on Wednesday to ease tensions in the public.
The presidency said it was aware of the allegations and described the PFIPC as a fictitious agency, claiming that Mr Gbajabiamila had first petitioned the Police and the State Security Service in October last year over the forging of his signature, seal, and portfolio number to issue fake employment letters from his office.
“We are aware of the public interest in the matter of a man called Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew, who has been parading himself as the director-general of a fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council cum Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
“The office of the chief of staff to the president first blew the whistle on the existence of the illegal agency, following complaints from officials of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council that another government agency appeared to be functioning at cross-purposes with it,” the statement said.
The Tinubu government also alleged that Mr Adeyemi used the PFIPC, which the government maintained was non-existent, to request a note verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States to facilitate visas for some of their staff, while also hosting ambassadors.
Amid the current administration’s attempt to deny the existence of PFIPC, The Gazette’s checks showed that the national budget includes a provision for the agency, while the government’s claim that the company doesn’t exist is contradicted by the fact that it had a line item for almost N2 billion.
It is not the first time that Mr Gbajabiamila has been fingered in a bribery scandal. In 2021, while serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Gbajabiamila was one of the lawmakers accused of taking $2 million in cash bribes each to pass the petroleum law, despite protests from host communities.
Meanwhile, the government claimed that the police filed an eight-count charge at the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, against Mr Adeyemi and two of his accomplices since November 2025, following investigations, and that they were released on bail. He is said to be due for another court appearance on July 27.
The accusations levelled against Mr Adeyemi included the fraudulent opening of a Central Bank of Nigeria account using fake documents to mislead the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, as well as criminal forgery.

Politics › Re: Breaking: President Tinubu To Create Nigeria Geo-Political Zone Bill 2026 by manmade(m): 1:01am On Jul 03 |
AhmedPeacemaker: As of October 1 2026, Nigeria’s six geo-political zones will become official and constitutional organs of government. This means that there will be four tiers of administration in Nigeria - Federal, Zonal, State, and Local governments
[2] Nigeria will have six geo-political zones, with each being made up of seven states. Our constitution will prohibit the creation of any more states after these 42
[3] As part of this restructure, we will abolish the federal allocation regime and replace it with resource control under which states will remain the federating units. Revenue distribution will be as follows - States: 50%; Federation account: 20%; Geo-political zones: 15%; National trust fund: 15%. We shall gradually migrate towards this to achieve our targeted goal by 2040
[4] Geopolitical zones will be responsible for maintaining regional police forces to augment the activities of the Nigerian Police Force
[5] Each geopolitical zone will be constitutionally obliged to generate, distribute, and transmit electricity within its domain
[6] Every year, the chairman of the geopolitical zone will rotate among the six governors within it. A chief executive will be appointed to manage what will be a civil service structure
[7] Ultimate authority for the governing of each geo-political zone rests with the committee of governors. There will also be committees of commissioners to deal with matters such as education, health, housing, transport, security, etc
[8] Each geopolitical zone authority will be responsible for secondary specialist healthcare. They will build specialist hospitals in areas such as oncology, HIV/Aids, renal failure, dementia, reproductive health, dermatology, etc
[9] These will be the 42 states that make up the six geopolitical zones:
South-South [1] Bayelsa State - Yenagoa [2] West Izon State - Patani [3] Rivers State - Port Harcourt [4] Cross River State - Calabar [5] Akwa Ibom State - Uyo [6] Edo State - Benin [7] Delta State - Warri
Northeast [1] Mambilla State - Gashaka [2] Taraba State - Jalingo [3] Adamawa State - Yola [4] Borno State - Maiduguri [5] Yobe State - Damaturu [6] Bauchi State - Bauchi [7] Gombe State - Gombe
Southeast [1] Anioma State - Asaba [2] Orashi State - Omoku [3] Anambra State - Awka [4] Imo State - Owerri [5] Enugu State - Enugu [6] Abia State - Umuahia [7] Ebonyi State - Abakaliki
North-Central [1] Abuja State - Abuja [2] Gurara State - Kafanchan [3] Benue State - Makurdi [4] Plateau State - Jos [5] Nasarawa State - Lafia [6] Kogi State - Lokoja [7] Niger State - Minna
Southwest [1] Odo Oya State - Ilorin [2] Oyo State - Ibadan [3] Ogun State - Abeokuta [4] Lagos State - Ikeja [5] Ondo - Akure [6] Ekiti - Ado-Ekiti [7] Osun - Oshogbo
Northwest [1] Sokoto State - Sokoto [2] Kebbi State - Birnin Kebbi [3] Kaduna State - Kaduna [4] Katsina State - Katsina [5] Kano State - Kano [6] Jigawa State - Dutse [7] Zamfara State - Gusua
[10] If any state is unable to meet its running costs, its geopolitical zone is constitutionally obliged to step in and bail it out. If not, the federal government will declare a state of emergency in that state" Congratulations to Nairaland for successfully transforming from a forum known for intelligent debates and fact-checking into a platform where almost anything goes. There was a time when members demanded evidence before believing or sharing a story. Today, many threads are dominated by "anywhere belle face" posters who treat rumours as facts and opinions as evidence. It's amazing how a once-respected forum has declined so dramatically. |

Eriokanmi: The way some people reason eeeh! You're comparing the Nigeria of the 80s,90, until 2014 with Nigeria of nowadays right? Make una dey continue dey defend the rubbish remi had said.
Mid 90s when schooling in Ilorin, my 100L fees for a whole session were 1,663 Naira. The receipt is still with me at home till date. In same period, a kuli kuli or akara seller could conveniently raise her children, even build a house. I remember iyadunni alakara osu back in the days. When going to see grandma in ekiti, our vehicle would stop there and we'd buy akara. She built upstairs with the proceeds. In same period, my school principal was riding 505 evolution Peugeot car while his vice was driving 504GL. They bought it brand new. In same period, pry school headmasters owned volkswagen beetle cars which they bought with their salary, cash. Is it same situation today? How much is a public university fee today and how many akara can you sell to garner that?
Na God, wey wan deal with remi and her husband make her spew that trash. Nowadays, not even a university professor could afford a used car, talk more of owning a brand new car. His entire life savings wont get him one except he received grants from outside for his research work or he's so lucky to garner some money during his sabbaticals overseas. In my undergraduate days, i knew profs who drove prado jeeps. Remi's comment clearly indicates how far and out of touch she and her husband are, from the masses. So sad. Her unfortunate statement would have made sense, had we been living in the 80s/90s. This is 2026 for cryinig out loud. This generation that met nothing but crumbs of the Nigeria's glorious past must not take her comment lightly, except they want to continue living with their parents after graduation due to government's failures. When China is empowering their youths and startups with huge sums of money with scholarship annually, someone is talking about akara empowerment in 2026? Hahahahahaha!!!
No wonder Nigeria is in such a disarray today. Even those selling akara today on the major parks in lagos, how much do they make daily? A lot of women quit that business for pure water cos of rising cost. Those commuters in lagos could bear a witness to this. Before, akara sellers would mob at you via the window but now, its pure water, soft and energy drinks sellers you'd see everywhere. What's the cost of cooking gas today per kg? What of ororo, beans...in fact nobody dey chop beans back in the days. They used to call those eating it as prisoners because that's the majort meal for them. Nobody goes to farm nowadays for fear of bokoharam and Niger republic that used to supply us beans to compliment local production had shut their borders against us. The available few is so expensive. What of the frypan, nylon or leaves? It's so unfortunate where we've found ourselves today as a nation. Under Tinubu's watch, naira became tissue papers. The cfa that I used to exchange with naira and my pocket would look like someone who kept heavy stones inside it had left naira far behind now. We're now 5th largest economy in africa, from 1st but nobody is talking about that, only defending rubbish. Isokay.
Anyone defending remi's unfeeling post is more than a wicked Nigerian. you're the only better by far that doesn't represent that great citadel of learning unilorin |
