geoworldedu:
Can 50k really do kulikuli and Akara business successfully? You gave 30k to someone some years back. Do you know that the 30k is the 300k of our time?

How can you give people 50k to start Akara and kulikuli business in this Tinubulation? You didn't even buy them the cylinder, the gas 12kg, which is 24k for a start, the wide pots used which cannot be less than 15 to 20k at the moment. The space for the akara business which in these days you have to keep paying and paying over again because of agbero and KAI that will keep chasing you about.

You didn't even factor in the umbrella they need to shield themselves from the sun. You gave them 50k and start saying, go and do Akara business.

If that's how cheap you can start Akara business, me and my guy for don run am tey tey when we were planning to do it some years back. Mtchew.

Please take note everyone, those people selling kunu and Akara by the roadside are far far richer than you doing 9 to 5 jobs o. And their starting capital no be the classmates of six months of your salary o. If you think say e easy, go try and na.
best thread on nairaland this year! If only the few misled youths are capable of thinking this way , surely, this country would be better off

Remi Tinubu did not address all Nigerians, contrary to what you're trying to make people believe. Her advice was specifically directed at the market women who received grants of ₦100,000 and ₦200,000 from the Remi Tinubu Foundation.
Context matters. Don't take a statement made to a specific group, strip it of its context, and then present it as though it was directed at the entire country.

yes remi owes you nothing than using your taxpsyers money on convoy, luxury bags and making you see less of your self damaging your self worth to understand that she owes you nothing as the wife of a president, no empathy for the poor than only advise is to advise those she and her family deprived so much good life than to ask them to go fry akara, maybe next 6month all go blinds from smoke and oxide from the charcoal, that's what remi owes you, the way you guys defend stupidity made me understand that some Nigeria deserves what the are going through, now the question is, if remi was in the position of those women and guys and got such from wife of a president how will she feel, when we don't put ourselves in other people shoe before decision then that shows we have been selfish to humanity, who and which president in world round whose wife could alter such advise or words to citizens, please name one, this woman is so insensitive to think every Nigeria is been bowing down to there oppression and this absolutely bad of her to say such to a country with so much resources and oil, are we different from other countries that have same oil and definitely there country men are frying akara, as big as China is in population, the will not just provide you just with grant but help you even get require tools you need even shop, and not even 100k or 50k, int his regime of inflator that 100k is less than 80dolls
I have your time today, so let me refresh your memory.
Years ago, in this same country, then Vice President Yemi Osinbajo distributed ₦10,000 grants to market women. The funds were appropriated in the national budget.
Now, let me shock you: this ₦50,000 grant came from Senator Oluremi Tinubu's personal purse, not from public funds. She owes neither you nor me anything. She's not your mother, and she's under no obligation to give you a kobo.
If she chooses to support market women with her personal money and advise them on how to grow their businesses, that's her prerogative. You don't have to like it, but acting entitled to someone else's generosity doesn't make your argument any stronger.

First of all frying burgers costs for more money and the profit margin is very high. Have you ever heard of anyone frying hamburgers in his house in America ? The level of skill to make a hamburger is by far higher than that of frying Akara. To go to university and end up frying Akara just shows how flawed the university system is. If a secondary school girl can fry Akara does that not mean a university graduate should take Akara to the next level ?
This revealed your level of exposure, go to pekam in UK or Houston in US and many other places abroad, you will see graduates and even PhD holders frying akara or even roasting corns in these places, you have to step up your knowledge of your environment guy.

The sense of entitlement some people have should be studied as a university course.
Someone who owes them absolutely nothing gave selected market women grants ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦100,000. These are women who would ordinarily borrow the same amount from institutions like LAPO or Grooming as business loans and spend one to three months repaying them with interest.
This time, they received the money free of charge and were simply advised on how to invest it wisely so they could grow their businesses.
Yet some people, who would rather spend their time on Nairaland or Instagram begging for ₦2,000, are claiming the donor deserves to be roasted for giving away her own money and offering practical advice. That level of entitlement is truly astonishing.

If you must attempt to be a spin doctor and try to put a positive spin on anything it can't be this video😄
There's is a reason it got a whole lot of negative feedback
It's one thing to do charity in bourdillion with your money and be happy to see a large number of people poor in your state but it's another level of lunacy to expect to do the same on a national level and not expect the absolute rejection of such silliness
Smh
The question is: Did you actually watch the video? I'm not convinced you did. It seems the desire for cheap likes and shares prevented you from taking the time to think critically. No insult is intended.

Someone gave you money and even advised you on how to invest it and grow it. Yet here you are, confidently talking rubbish online, despite not having ₦100,000 to your family's name. Instead of arguing with people on the internet, you should focus on applying the advice you were given and building something meaningful. I don't want to see you as one of the intellectually lazy youths President Buhari once described. There is absolutely nothing lazy about frying and selling akara. Instead of looking down on honest work, go and read the story of how McDonald's started in the United States. Many successful global businesses began with humble ideas. Hard work, consistency, and passion—not the type of job you do—are what create success.

So Nigerians are lazy? People were not frying akara before these crooks came into power?

Read your comments again, you must be an rccg drone.
Don't deceive yourself into thinking that frying akara is a sign of failure or intellectual laziness. I don't want to see you become one of the intellectually lazy youths President Buhari spoke about. Go and read the story of how McDonald's started in the United States. Every legitimate business has the potential to grow into something great when it is pursued with vision, discipline, and excellence. Honest entrepreneurship deserves respect.

..abi.. while the politicians children get CBN, NNPC jobs
Now let me surprise you with this revelation: do you know that you could earn more money than the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria simply by selling akara if you are passionate, consistent, and run it as a successful business?
The mindset that success can only come from a white-collar job is outdated. In today's world, entrepreneurship, skilled trades, and small businesses can generate substantial wealth when managed with dedication, innovation, and good business practices.
What matters is not just the type of work you do, but the value you create, the discipline you apply, and the commitment you bring to it. Honest work is dignified, and every legitimate business has the potential to grow.

Shame on you for spewing this thrash out . Ask yourself can a security guard in Nigeria afford 3 square meals in a day.Can a cleaner afford basic things in Nigeria unlike their counterparts in Canada,US and UK. Keep being delusional all in name of trying to justify rubbish. If Nigeria is OK as u are portraying it your politicians won't let their kids travel out and school abroad. You can't be wiser and smarter than them who take their kids to those countries stop being sentimental.
You have just described what you think life is like in the UK, the US, and Canada. My brother, those countries also have less privileged people. They have homeless people and people living in poverty too.
A cleaner in those countries does not earn or live like the CEO of a bank. Every society has its own economic challenges.
If only you knew what many people who relocated abroad ("Japa"wink are actually going through, you would better appreciate some of the opportunities you still have here. Many are struggling with high living costs, multiple jobs, loneliness, and financial pressure.
There is no such thing as free money or free meals anywhere in the world—not even in Freetown. Success still requires hard work, discipline, and perseverance, regardless of the country you live in.

Even the JOE is a mad man. So after spending over 5 years to acquire higher education the best the president's wife could come up with is akara and kulikuli business.
The problem with some of you is that you're simply too lazy to conduct your own research and find out the truth before reacting to issues.
I can confidently bet that over 98% of the people criticizing Senator Remi Tinubu have not even watched the video in question. The remaining 2% who may have seen it have likely been influenced by the bandwagon effect.
I have watched the video, and its content is entirely different from what some people are portraying here and on other social media platforms.
The First Lady was simply explaining that her foundation has been helping people overcome poverty and will continue to provide support to the less privileged, especially women, to help break the cycle of poverty. She further stated that the money given to the women at the event was meant to help them start businesses, not to be spent on unnecessary or frivolous things. She merely gave examples of small businesses they could venture into, such as making kulikuli or selling akara, as ways to earn a decent income.
At no point did she say that Nigerian youths should become kulikuli makers or akara sellers.
It is important to understand that not everyone who starts a thread or comments on a topic has a proper understanding of it. Some deliberately misrepresent the facts to push a narrative, while others do so because of limited knowledge or poor comprehension. Before reacting or joining the outrage, it is always better to verify the facts for yourself.

Peter obi always taking someone else's property since immemorial time, the owner of the party logo has come to reclaimed the ownership now and without logo there's no party, what a great loss to the obidients

Ttey angry with VDM not because of any court processes because of his actions in the wake of the Terrorism. He is exposing a lot of illegalities in the faaake fight against terrorism. He is exposing and bringing the terrorism in the MB to the open, that is their huge pain. Nothing else
The case here is that he was found in possession of evidential videos that ordinarily should not have been in the public domain. He was careless enough to broadcast them to the public. Therefore, he will be investigated to explain to the DSS how he came into possession of the videos.
