Nobody is saying the Federal Government should escape accountability. You cannot demand accountability from Abuja while conveniently placing every other actor in the electricity value chain on permanent holiday.

Grid reliability has been spectacular . 2023 was relatively stable with 3 collapses, 2024 was considerably worse with 9, while 2025 improved markedly. Grid collapse is getting close to what buhari experience in his 2 tenure


The data support some improvement in generation and a substantial improvement in grid stability after the bad 2024 year, but they do not support claiming a sustained, dramatic increase in electricity actually delivered to consumers.

One more thing: try engaging your Local Government Chairmen and State Governor on social media as well. Rather than waiting for Abuja to solve every electricity problem, communities can also explore lawful local and mini-grid solutions to complement the national supply. Governance is a shared responsibility—not everything should be blamed on the Federal Government.

Before the recent power-sector initiatives of President Tinubu, electricity in many areas could go off whenever there was heavy rain or a thunderstorm. That is no longer the experience in some of those areas.

My three-year-old niece in nursery school understands the basic principle of hydroelectric power generation better than you do. Even she would not make the simplistic argument that increased electricity supply is automatically caused by the rainy season.

When someone is determined to find fault, even an improvement staring them in the face becomes something to deny.

This is not just about popularity, it is about mathematics.

The 2027 election will be decided by three factors: a solidified base, a strategic Northern alliance, and a divided opposition.

*1. The Solid Base:* Obi/Kwankwaso locks down the entire South-East and South-South. That is Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers. Add Benue, Plateau, Taraba and Nasarawa in the North-Central/Middle Belt where Obi has proven strength.

*2. The Kwankwaso Factor:* The game-changer is Kano. With Kwankwaso on the ticket, Kano - Nigeria's highest vote bank - flips from APC to the Obi movement. That alone cancels out Lagos.

*3. The Split in the North:* Atiku/Amaechi and Tinubu/Shettima will split the core Northern and South-West votes. Atiku takes Adamawa, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara. Tinubu holds Borno, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Yobe.

In Lagos, the margin will be very slim - Obi is projected to cross 1 million votes there.

Bauchi remains the wild card with a possible APM/NDC alliance.
