automech: Hello house,

My ppa is " Through perm sec min of special duties, ministry of works and infrastructure alausa ikeja"

on getting there yesterday, they just collected my letter, no number, no tag, nothing!

my question is, is my kind of ppa among the 15k monthly state allowance or just normal 10k?

I kinda know I have missed this if its the 15k allowance. can anything be done?

Also, I want to believe they have candidates already which made 600 people got numbers within few hours.
Hmm, u also got Ikeja and a nice posting at that. Please what location did u put during your registration?

Nobody hacked NYSC site, what is there is what they agreed. Letz follow SIMPLE instructions. Go on the said date for ur region. But if you are based in Lag, u can ball into camp on the 1st and see things for yourselves. If they change their mind and make us camp, good for us. If they dont, letz move on.

ifeadikanwanne: It will look so childish
Originality should be our watchword
Its okay with #Nyscstream2
Oby ezekwesili should be added too with @obyezeks

God Bless!!!
In as much as you have a point there, I dont completely agree with you. Childish you say, but itz eye catchy and the message would be easily passed across. #NYSCSTREAM2 is vague, but when you combine it with #BRINGBACKOURCAMP the message is easily passed.

RomanceRe: Why Are Ladies Scared To Date Handsome Guys?? by Mannylex(m): 9:57am On Aug 25, 2014
Uhmm. I dont believe you man! Or I could believe you on the condition that the girls around you are average or with very low self esteem, no pun intended. I know I am handsome (not tryna be cocky) and that is an advantage to me, it attracts ladies to me(the type I want) but it 'scares'(if thatz the word) average or low self esteem ladies away. Lets put it this way, you have a 'first class look(if you have cash and game thatz an added advantage), you'll attract first class ladies'. You saying it scares them away is the opposite of the rule...

P.S : i havent seen a job placement that says minimum of 2:1 should apply, then 2:1 graduates get scared of applying, rather its those with 3rd class that get scared, cos they know itz outta their reach.

If you are handsome as you say, and it becomes a disadvantage to you, ol boy change the kinda girls you roll with. Nothing puts me off more than girls with low self esteem!

SerPounce: As it stands, there will be no camping as they've stated on their site. Except they change their decision in the coming days, it still stands. Let's try n move past that. What we should be asking is what plans they've put in place for posting to PPAs, since they say their decision to postpone orientation camp for us was "In consideration of the presidential pronouncement
that all schools should not reopen at this time of
national health emergency...".

Since most corpers are posted to schools and schools are not reopening anytime soon, are we to just stay at home after collecting our PPA posting letters, until whenever they decide to reopen the schools or will they reconsider their position and post us to other sectors? Or will coming with request letters from organisations outside the recognized sectors be acceptable as a result of the present circumstances? To me, that's the more important question. Those with any ideas can share.
P. S: Wey the former active peeps on this thread? Hissexcellencie, Youngmoniii, prixxy7, debbygirly n others? All I see these days are sort codes flying around grin.
As it stands, we might once again be the 'unlucky one's'.... The stream1 corpers would likely not be posted to schools due to the governments directive of schools not resuming. But we would get our own posting towards september ending which by then schools should have resumed. YES! Your guess is as good mine we could be posted to schools because stream 1 corpers would have filled up better establishments. But lets see how it goes, they would likely get their posting on Wednesday

CareerRe: Top 10 Most Demanded Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by Mannylex(m): 4:10pm On Aug 24, 2014
gudrated: You don't have to necessarily get the required experience in an oil and gas firm. Remember that IT skills are applicable in any industry.
Why do you want to partake in offshore duties or field work as a computer scientist. It will be tough except you go for specialized training such as rope access technician (IRATA) - google it or you sit for City and Guilds exams
Thanks man, u've been helpful

Either Offshore Nigeria or elsewhere in the world, tell us your experiences
your work environment, how difficult or challenging your job is

I hope this will be a nice meeting point for we that work offshore to keep
this energy thirsty world running

You are all welcome
hi all, I am a computer science graduate, currently in my service year. Can a computer scientist work offshore or its only limited to Engineering graduates?
CareerRe: Top 10 Most Demanded Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by Mannylex(m): 2:50pm On Aug 24, 2014
gudrated: Of course, computer scientists are employed as system analyst, IT security experts, network admin, application analyst, database admin, etc.
Think along that line
The thing is I know they are needed, but I hardly come across job openings that requires entry level. i have only seen few and its only for those with 2-5 years experience, itz just so painful! Can i take courses or any certification that can make me partake in offshore duties, fieldworke.t.c ?
CareerRe: Top 10 Most Demanded Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by Mannylex(m): 12:39pm On Aug 24, 2014
gudrated: Yes, but I don't work as an engineer o. I guess you are an elect/elect engineer
sup man, how can a Computer Scientist break into the oil&gas sector? Or they aren't needed there?

@ Xfire, how about a computer scientist? Any possibilty of getting into the sector and how easy? Thanks

CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by Mannylex(m): 10:11pm On Aug 23, 2014
scantee: Hello Guys! Lets share our exprience in our respective companies, the challanges we face, the good tidings of each companies and compare it with each. The main reasons i'm doing this here, is because i got loads of mail from Nairalanders, asking me to give them crew about all this companies concerning the post i made some time ago.

Here we go. I have worked in the following companies they have their good and their bad. (1) MOBIL (PH): here i jst worked as a contract staff so no much benefit or packages for me as being a contract staff.

(2) AgipsadBrass Island Bayelsa) I Worked as HSE Adviser here, left them many years back due to they don't pay their staff on time.

(3) NLNG, (Bonny Island R/State) one of the best. If not the best everybody would wish to work with, I worked as SAP Team member here, they have good tidings and good packages for their staff (not contractors staff) one of the good thing i like about them is, they allow their staff to make use of their hilux outside the company site unlike other coys,, to go with it and flex as much as u can without much limitations, they pay their staff every last friday of every month,

They often host party for their staff/ the host community last saturday of every month.

(4)SPDC (Bonny Island) Currently working here as Network/System Admin . Though they are good, but not like Shell we use to know before, since most directors now are naija made lol, and they more into contracting jobs unlike before, things has really changed. though they still pay well but not as it used to be , but their policy is not easy to maintain. The only advantage of working with them is their (Electronic ID) Which permits/gives u access to all the shell terminal nation wide and beyond, and it gives u access to eat in any of their (SPDC Canteen) and their ID enables you to have access to their internet service when you slot it in their customize keyboard. You wil as well enjoy what they call (HAPPY HOUR) is a party that comes up every last friday of the month.

You can sign in about (5) of ur friends using ur ID card, they will be offered free drinks and foods all night in the party. Top naija artists use to performing live during the party.

Omo come see chicks begging you to sign them in, u just dey form like...eh." but you don't dare go out with any Spdc hilux out of the terminal except on official duty, but i guess is due to the IVMS which monitors your speed limits, that might affect the audit during the monthly vehicles inspection audit.

Feel free to shares urs let's have fun of it ( sorry i'm typing through my phone so the text might lack formatting and lots of typooooo.
keep it rolling
. Hi man, you've done a good thing by creating this thread. I am a graduate of Computer Science currently in my service year and would love to know the possibility of me getting into the oil&gas sector... Even if itz based on contract. Can a computer scientist work offshore? What certification do I need ? Your response would be highly appreciated

yokiti: Good morning to you my friend. Wishing you a splendid day ahead.
.
Special greetings to all the members of NYSC 2014 Batch B family.
To all Stream 1 corpers in camp; hope you are having the best of it? Has the count down to end of the 3 weeks orientation started already? I want to specially appreciate those that have been giving us a peep into the orientation camp by narrating their day to day activities here together with their pictorial updates. Thanks and God bless you all.
To my stream 2 friends; somethings happen for a reason, to be frank with you people, the decision about you having an abdridged version of orientation will pain the top officials more than the prospective corpers because of what they stand to loose (please dont ask me what it is but my hint is about the "ONLY" factor that unites all Nigerians irrespective of the side of the divide you are from) at the end. It better to miss the 3 weeks orientation than having infected with the dreaded Ebola virus or being a victim of the negative things happening in our dear nation at the moment. I wish you all the best that you all desire.
.
In my abode on planet Earth; It has been raining for over 5 hours now; what is the situation report in your own areas?
Do have a blessed day ahead!
You have spoken like the wise man that you are, I respect you.
