Henry120: But boko-haram has killed over 650 Nigerians since May 29th 2015, so how is it quite different? My brother, I'm on the same page with you. The issue of terrorism is massive than what we see outside, it's goes root down to the community, the leaders, the parent. Ask me how. The north is highly poor leaving many kids to beg in the street (Almajiris), you will believe this is the endless pool of Boko Hamas raw materials (Pawns), those boys are expendable, no one cares after them and they can be lured with any flashy thing, food, water, shelter and the almighty 72 virgins) The north further bring more shit on themselves when they adopt the sharia law. For Jeez sake this is 21st century, we should have stiffer penalty for public office looters not for Abeeb who stole #50 or for Uche who stole handset. Lastly, this is a faceless group, they crawl out, make the damage, crawl back. This is the highest for of cowardice, the military needed special training, discerning and personal intuition to figure who among this masquerade is a male with explosive and they've been trying. 9jacrip: Apologies.
There is no way Ooni could have resolved the issue, it is very complex. It will all boil down requesting that both parties give certain things up but then Ife will be on the losing end - the lands.
Ife want Modakeke off their land if they cannot remain an a hamlet in Ife with a presiding chief (Obalaaye). Modakeke have refused to vacate, they want to be a separate town like Ipetumodu, Ifetedo, Ifewara etc with their own king and LGA. Yet they won't move to a farther distance to get these things done.
How would you suppose Ooni, a Governor or you resolve this?
My take, my people lost it when they wanted the Modakeke to exist out of their walls rather than have them assimilate into Ife so much so that their migration history becomes difficult to prove. That way, we would be having these issues. I like the bolded part, very objective but assimilating to one's cultural background is not an easy task expecially when the other party is not seeing as a subordinate. |

PassingShot: Which achievements?
How is the refusal of USA to sell weapon to Nigeria under GEJ an achievement?
Did Buhari or any one claim it was PMB's achievement? Besides, are we talking of the same locomotive railway that was repainted and brought to us at exorbitant price? The railway as attached here? The same trains that derail because of rail lines that are already obsolete?
Refineries that GEJ's administration told us were to resume production in 2016 as reported here by NNPC here?http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/refineriesll-be-back-on-stream-2016-nnpc/ Had GEJ won the election, would the refineries have started work given the fact that they had already given June 2016 date? I did a thread on it here https://www.nairaland.com/2392387/buhari-not-jonathan-responsible-refineries#34952467
The anti-corruption technology that didn't recognize that stealing is corruption? The technology that couldn't deter massive looting and short-changing the govt such that thousands of barrels of crudes were lifted but proceeds ended in private accounts of some ministers? The technology that couldn't prevent taking $2bn from ECA without approval of joint-owners?
All in all, I see this as unnecessary cheap blackmail that will not fly.
Sane Nigerians are already grateful to God for giving us Buhari as we have witnessed tremendous improvements in service delivery of all government agencies. This is largely brought about by the body language of the incorruptible General.
The ardent critics (including PDP) of the amiable president even attest to the fact that PMB stands head and shoulder above all in terms of integrity and sincerity. It's not uncommon to now read PDP saying "APC is no different from PDP if not for Buhari". To us, that is huge difference.
GEJ is nothing but a failure. May you walk and never stumble. May your run full and over. May your days be long like Methuselah and blessed like Abraham. I wish I can like this post more than once. |

9jacrip: Talking about curse, I would pull out epe, pour water on the ground chant what I should and place a curse that can never washed off on you. I won't stop there, I'll eat 9 seeds of atare, obi and orogbo with gin then top it off with proper olugbohun - please don't go there.
Ife and Modakeke conflict go way back, it is beyond Ooni Sijuade. If you're bright, you'd realize an Ooni's decision during crucial times is not usually his but that of the Ife people with whom the power lies to dethrone him and even bar his family from become King ever again. Does Ooni Abewela ring a bell?
Ooni seemed to be the face of it all but in actual sense, wealthy and connected Ife folks were possibly responsible for whatever weapons used during the war - there's no reason to go into details here.
Ife people have, still and would always want their land back. The lands occupied by Modakeke originally and does they have slowly encroached upon due to population explosion are some people's ancestral/family lands on the Ife side - some families have just the land their compound building has been on alone and lost every other lands they've held since time immemorial. Not only that, the encroachment is also sickening. Apart from lands alloted to Modakeke, why would any sane person claim ownership of lands they happen to have seized during the wars fought in previous times - lands not anywhere near Modakeke axis for that matter. Why would a Modakeke claim he has a farm around Mokuro, do you know far Mokuro is to Modakeke?
Once Ife populace make a decision, the Ooni becomes helpless, don't blame him. Even Oduduwa had limited powers - go to check how Ogboni Ooni started in Ife.
Quit with the emotions already sir, you're learned, objectivity should not be too hard for you.
Lastly, if Awujale or say Ijebu ran into deep conflicts that could becom violent with Alaake or Egba people, you'd understand Kingship is pretty much not what you think it is.
Enjoy. I respect this piece you've written and I must confess there are evidences of truth, while you will as well understand that many of those lands were sold long time ago. The core modakeke started as a settlement with just a street, maybe the war wouldn't have happened if the then Ooni had given them a Baale when they requested for someone to represent their interest in the palace... I want you to understand as well that i'm not partisan but as a paramount ruler and powerful Ooni is, he could resolved this dispute without having to shed blood. And for the curse, my apologies, though i'm not intimidated with those things you said but I believe there are better ways to settle dispute without having it degenerated into chaos. Apologies. |

hadura29: this man go and sleep you aint gat no point at all... I lost more than people I love so don't tell me what you don't know... You got a D still.... Since the war is more felt on the Modakeke, that leaves me with no option to believe that you are an Ife descend, and those loved ones are from Modakeke... they are expendable, isn't it? Only a neutral person will admit that the King should have done better. For those who care to know, below are few things that caused the conflict. 1. Continuous kidnapping of the Modakeke's which started sometime in 1980. For those who care to inquire on this let me give you a snippet. During a coronation, there is a room that will be opened where the Awo's (Priest) will invoke ancestral spirit to a crown that will later be worn by the king on the last day of the coronation. Anyone who open this room dies immediately. Sometimes in 1980, a popular Modakeke born businessman was contacted to be the one to open this mystery door and he was severely warned not to attend the party or open the door else he die. On the D - day, the said man was not on seat and when the time to open the door, another person did and was consumed by the spirit. There was a case of continuous kidnapping of the Modakeke's after this period. 2. It may interest you to know that Modakeke of today started like a street, infact there was a school back then with a signboard Modakeke High School, Ife. Just like the Jaja of Opobo story, the Modakeke's had foresight to have their sovereign so they started buying the land for farming and settlement. After they had bought a considerable large amount of land, the Ife people who had sold the land will come back to claim it. This has been going on for many years even before Olubuse became the king, but guess what? The king will always rule in favour of his kinsmen. For record, an average Ife man in the 70s will prefer to wake up in the morning and drink the left over of yesterday's palm wine. They best fit in for Snoop ft. PSY on Hangover 3. Request to have their personal Baale (ruler): after setting up a considerable settlement and expanse of land at their disposal, the Modakeke's request to have their own Baale which will represent their interest in the palace of Ooni just like every other smaller community has which the Olubuse and his people kicked against because they sees them as outcast, they later start pressing for their own ruler which further fuel the anger of the Ife people. No community want to remain without having a representative. 4. The last which I know of was the Local Government Issue. Ife as greedy they are always wanted to have everything for themselves, what's bad about having a LG inside the Modakeke which is seen as Ife Annex, but no, they wanted it all. I don't hate Ife people but this is a raw truth, some of which you can confirm online or from someone who is 60yrs and above with very informed history about the IFE.
