Hey guys I was just wandering if you have heard about this project. . . it is a big step up from the paperwork routine. . .I love the good use of technology to benefit people. wink

e-Health Project

The Lagos State Government, acknowledging the need for adequate health information storage and delivery embarked upon the e-Health project; the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Science is implementing an Interactive Hospital Information System Software & Technology in some of the State owned hospital facilities.

Governor Fashola championed the electronic charting for Lagos State government health system which was to start with a pilot scheme at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH), Ikeja. The Lagos State Health Management Information System (HMIS) project is a broad based modular Hospital Administration System Database solution that allows the operational procedures and stream of patients in a health facility to be coordinated thus ensuring prompt and effective healthcare delivery.

The project, which is in furtherance of the state government’s vision of promoting effective service delivery, is being put into operation in phases to involve all state owned secondary and tertiary health facilities. The pilot phase commenced fully on the 5th January, 2009 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH), General Hospitals Isolo and Lagos and is currently in its second phase which involves the General Hospitals in Alimosho, Badagry, Ikorodu, Epe, Somolu, Surulere, Gbagada, Orile Agege, Ajeromi and Lagos Island Maternity Hospital.

This system that has been set in place should ensure that any patient in a Lagos State hospital will be registered on a central computer server with the information readily available to the doctors treating a patient, who will have simultaneous access to the up-to-date medical records and treatment information. The links to the diagnostic modules ensures doctors online can order tests while results can be returned via the same channel. Critical minutes saved by this prompt information availability will save a lot of lives as will be shown in statistical data to be maintained.

There is a complete billing system incorporated into the structure that will ensure proper accounting and transparency. When a patient arrives at a department in LASUTH, for instance and has been identified as needing some services, the patient or person accompanying him or her will be given a bank teller with the details of service to be rendered and the cost. This teller is now presented at the stipulated bank where payment is made. This way, it is unnecessary for staff to handle the funds and reduces risk of theft or loss. The reporting and statistics has also been built in and will be able to conform to international standards. The solution is web based and is being complemented with a wide area computer network linking all the hospitals. Authorization levels would be determined for all relevant workers to ensure patient confidentiality.

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola made many campaign promises to the citizens of Lagos State and it is gladdening to Lagosians that he is keeping to his promises. Better health care service in Lagos state is one of the promises he made and he is certainly making an effort to make the health service better in Lagos State.

@ gozzila
I advice you not to get in an argument with her it is useless.

Kobojunkie:
Like I said, there is that which the government is actually doing, and that which is happening but the government seems to claim to have a hand in.

I see you suggest people sacrifice critical thinking so you can read more praise notes than anything else, but I believe that happens to be what led us all here in the first place. Look at developed countries for instance to see how critical thinking has helped not only improve their lives and their government as well. We need more of that and less FOLLOW FOLLOW /PRAISE mentality!
For goodness sake how long are you going to be "critically thinking" in the place you are at? You have been critically thinking for the last 40 years now, IT IS TIME TO TAKE SOME ACTION.
Please do no take my politeness on the other thread for weakness. . . I can put you where you belong, but this is a forum about Nigeria and I find it really immature trying to prove who is the best "DEBATER". . . WHO cares? IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU. . . get it through your thick skull it is about the DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIA. . . GO TO THE COUNTRY AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING (Tell us the outcome instead of your usual). Contribute something good for once and stop criticizing everything without giving a good solution.

As I said before The emptiest barrel makes the loudest noise. . . you talk to much therefore it shows how empty you are.

IF IT IS DEBATING YOU ARE INTERESTED IN GO TO A FORUM WHERE YOU CAN WIN AN AWARD FOR YOUR "GREAT DEBATES". . . THIS A FORUM ABOUT NIGERIA AND HOW THE PEOPLE CAN DEVELOP IT.

Humble yourself and learn. WISDOM IS IN HUMILITY

WITH OR WITHOUT YOUR "DEBATES" OR "CRITICAL THINKING" ON THIS FORUM NIGERIA WOULD CONTINUE TO PROGRESS.

BTW. . . you don't know me so don't label. . . or else you would end up picking your face of the floor (in shame). wink

I AM DONE WITH YOU. . .

@ EVERYONE

POSITIVITY = FAITH = OPTIMISM = ACTION = PROGRESS

* I know the vultures are coming out . . . oh well progress still continues. hahahahahaha

Kobojunkie:
I seriously doubt you believe the above to be the case with you because in most all your post on this thread alone, you have continually taken JABS at the intelligence of those who do not see things your way. If that is not you insulting them for not agreeing with you, then I don't know what else should qualify.  In fact, I have never really read any post of yours showing you even understand the issues . . . what I have seen more of is you aligning yourself with one group or another so you can take jabs at the other group for not agreeing with the side you have chosen to align yourself with. Hence the reason why I decided to ask if you even understand, I mean really understand any of what is being discussed at all.
WOW . . .  God is on YOUR SIDE but not on the Side of the others? Essentially, you are telling us here that GOD sanctions YOUR SIDE of the debate or something?
Are you sure this LINE does not exist in your mind? Because in reality it is not always as BLACK AND WHITE as you claim it ALWAYS is for you.Are you sure one cannot make the same argument of you here? Because it is also true that there are those who have blinders on and will see ONLY GOOD even when it calls for common sense to be applied.

By the way, before you go forth, The bible does call for  WISDOM to be applied ALL THE TIMES/along with knowledge. It is possible to have knowledge but little understanding . . . just FYI!For different reasons . . . sometimes, it's Just that some of the mentalities cause me to get the giggles. . . .  Rather than jump to insulting people, I choose to laugh my frustrations and my awe away . .
WOW. . . KOBOJUNKIE.  . . you just had to go dissecting my post into ity-bity parts. WHY DO YOU LIKE ARGUING SO MUCH? (it is a rhetorical question you don't have to dissect this one)

it is okay you don't have to worry . . . I understand you. wink

THIS YOUR LOVE FOR DEBATING IS GETTING TOO MUCH

Kobojunkie:
Sigh!!!

I don't ever remember engaging you in any reasonable discussion. Matter of fact, the problem I have had with people who think as you seem to is that you make a  point and then you expect that point to be FINAL FOR EVERYONE without considering the point being made by the other party and how it is possible your point has already been considered but still falls when higher issues are considered.

It is ok to have a point but when a (for lack of a better word) superior point is offered, you need to understand that continuing to argue that your mini point is not being considered is the futile action.

YES the book was RED IN COLOR BUT THE BOOK has been burnt to ashes so it does not matter if it was red or not anymore. . .It is no more . . .   ROFLMAO!!
I would never try to shove my Idea down anybody throat. . . It is a waste of time . . .I sincerely discourage people to do that, because while you are trying to do that you could actually be doing something constructive with that idea (All you need is God on your side.). I would not also lie and say I do not feel for those who support positive actions (there is a visible line between positive and negative actions) concerning their dislike towards certain "debaters". Some people on this forum dislike a certain idea, not because of the details or its effect on others but because some have little knowledge about the topic, some are filled with NEGATIVITY and HATE, and others are very BIASED.  I have read enough on this forum to conclude.

Why are you always rolling on the floor laughing your behind off? always wanted to ask.

Kobojunkie:
Good for you but I am sure some people out there(I happen to be one of them) want to know if you are not another follow-follow . . . .

What is it you really know of CORS and NGS? What organizations are in charge of these? Where is the funding from? Is this a Lagos Iniative? What is the difference, if any, is what CORS and NGS offers and already available GPS accessible to most everyone who want to consume the data? Who manages this data? What other uses, if any, does CORS data have that GPS data does not already offer?  huh
I am not trying to prove anything to you or anybody else I have already stated that above. . . If others have already explained just a little of the benefits of this project and some still do not understand then what makes my words so different. IF YOU AND OTHERS SEE ME AS A FOLLOW FOLLOW. THEN I AM GLAD TO BE ONE grin grin grin grin. AS LONG AS I AM FOLLOWING A POSITIVE PROJECT THAT WOULD BENEFIT THE GREATEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE.

Again NO I am not going to try to ARGUE on how this benefits the greatest number of people.

remember the emptiest barrel makes the loudest noise. wink

NOte: Insulting me on this would just be you insulting those who raised you . . . I see the others do it well and you have only over the past couple of weeks joined the bandwagon without thinking what it really means to do that, especially knowing what you post in here stays with you all your life, probably.
WOW . .  I just saw this. . . don't worry about that I am not going to bite ya  smiley. . . I say what I gotta say to ya and then go about my business . . . and trust me you or your words can't hurt a fly so why would I start verbally abusing you. . . common now check my previous post . . . it takes a while to get on my nerves.  grin grin grin

BTW. . . I have been on Nairaland for a while now. . . And I have my reasons for supporting certain people here on certain issues. . .

hhmmm  . . .  since you CLAIM you UNDERSTAND this . .  how exactly do you think it will hope to achieve the above? Just curious cause I have seen you on so many of these threads parroting what is posted and doing the usual but i have never really seen you explain what you claim to UNDERSTAND . . . ever!
KobojunKie. . .

I would have usually ignored but I want you to get something straight

I have promised myself I would never get in an argument with you again. . . GETTING  A POINT ACROSS TO YOU IS FUTILE.  IF You don't believe I understand this project then there is nothing I can do about that. . . I am not going to try to prove anything to you.

For others wanting to know "HOW I COULD POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND THIS PROJECT" . . . I would explain later when I have more time.

babapupa:
Dude what are you running your mouth about? I wrote more explanatory this thread than you and the other loud mouth put together. I just asked the other OMO IBO to show me where I refused to answer his question, but he's yet to show face.

I have no problem calling out and qualifying people according their utterances, Just like one claimed that the state is yet to build roads (which they are doing of course) but they are into GPS system. That was moronic and backward comment, it's like saying there is no reason to boil water for garri on the side till you finish cooking the stew or don't learn how to drive till you have money to buy a car. These are the kinds of backward thinking people you are defending? I don't encourage ignorance and stupidity, you of course have every right to, but not me.

Btw, why is it paining you gan sef?  Have I called or label you anything? (Not that I wont if you uttered anything backward or ignorant)
I seriously feel you I am not going to lie. . .the lack of KNOWLEDGE of most Nigerians especially those abroad is so appalling at the same time extremely heart breaking (I read somewhere on this forum that Nigerians in Nigeria don't own mops, and there are no luxury buses in Nigeria. . . wow) . . . Also most lack VISION and if you try to explain they remain stubborn and negative. . . The worst part is they try to act like they know best. . . instead of them to humble themselves and learn; ACT more instead of flapping their gum . . . I have learned the best way to handle them is to just Ignore.

Some cannot stand and would never be able to stand the sight of  progress in Lagos or in Nigeria
But remember you need their negativity for progress.

link=topic=493346.msg6543500# date=]The initiative, according to her, will help build a new Lagos and get the traffic moving again by tracking road congestion, road safety and improving public transportation.

She had earlier explained that the entire project started when the state governor in 2007, set up a five man advisory committee of experts headed by the former Surveyor-General of the state, who is now the Special Adviser to the Governor, Mr M.A.O Durowoju, to deliver a fully digital mapping and enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) for the state.
This is enough benefits for me to see the good in it. . . NOT to talk about other benefits people here have mentioned. . .  MORE ORGANIZATION LESS CHAOS

It's not like the state is ignoring the water problem. The target for this year alone is to commission 15 water works around the state and they're almost done. They just commissioned Akute Power Project  (12.5 megawatts power station) to power Iju water works.
