Hello everyone,
So my sister gave birth recently in Edmonton, just want to share some brief details.
I found a gynae for her before she landed, she got a referral from my family doctor, paid $120 for that. I called around and we shortlisted 2, the first one (a group of ob-gyn) was going to collect $3000 for delivery and $250/visit. The second has a fee breakdown for delivery and payment of $250/first visit and $120/subsequent visits so we chose him because the first didn’t really explain his fees.
Well the doc she signed up with didn’t end up taking the delivery as he was away, so the ob on call did it. She paid $2200 for his fee, $500 for anaesthesia and total hospital( fee was $8800

There were also some other small fees but I can’t remember now. My advice is to research well, I was only able to get this information because I am a resident and I kept telling them that she’s my sister. Birth tourism isn’t very popular here

I mean that you should print out the test. I know most of the resources available are computer based but u can get some that u can print out on paper to work with while you listen to the audio... If you write in phc, your exam is going to be on paper and this will help...

I can't agree less with you.

Having written TEF, and now preparing for TCF, I find TCF easier, but as you said the CO part is tricky. You listen once and part of it is also listening for the question.

but the clips are short with I think the longest being about 1 minute or so, if I am right

Hi all.... to those preparing for TCF..... Just drawing your attention to a tip I believe you already know... 'Used on TCF CO, I believe will make a difference.... *Get the test on paper for your practice. Read the options and underline keywords before the audio starts to play.

The 15 working days is a récent update. On their website, 4 to 6 weeks was previously stated.

For listening, reading the questions while the instruction is playing is ideal, then you'll already know what to listen for when the recording starts. The Propulse Training channel on YouTube also has some tips that may be helpful for listening even if it's just for more practice questions. Here are some exemples:


For writing, me I can't recommend the prepmyfuture app enough o but if you have the time to attend the AF classes, please grab the opportunity

Also, is anyone here considering the TCF Exam? Alliance Francaise Lagos is not taking it yet, but when I called, the lady said if they have enough people making the request they can decide to start taking it.

Please, if you are interested, let's know ourselves and plan a way forward.

My main reason is the fact that you can pick up your results within 15 days as against TEF which is 2 months

If you are interested in writing TCF go to AF Portharcourt. Even if its just one candidate, they'll register you and you will take the exam. Its N110,000. I already posted their exam schedule somewhere on this thread.

In my own case....from the scores they told me i got when I called...I have CLB 7 in all sections

CRS jumping from 415 to 457...I think I'm in shock

I'm awaiting results. My French is really bad but I went ahead with it anyway.

Speaking: part 1, I was asked to call a ski holiday company and ask a couple of questions about an ad.
For part 2, I was asked to convince my friend to use a service that provides electric cars.

I had 15 minutes to prepare. Part 1 went by so fast. Didn't notice due to nerves. I was still asking my questions when the examiner told me time was up and he stopped the tape. There was no prep time for part2, we just jumped right into it. The examiner was tough. Practically refused every single proposition I made but I hung in there and kept probing in my terrible French until time was up.

Writing: part 1: the headline was something about a bank's bullion van having an accident causing money to fall off a bridge like rain...wrote what I could.
Part 2: we were asked to write for or against social media causing more distance between people than it connects.

Listening: LOL. Oh boi...ka sha maa dupe. Some parts were simple especially the beginning. Then later it was like I was hearing Ibo.

Reading: sharply did the first and last 10 questions.

You're right. I saw this Dec 5 date on the CIEP website. I contacted AF PH this morning and they say they offer TCF Canada for 110k....in other news, TEF Canada for the next available session in February has gone up to 110k as well.

Hmmmm...... Okayyy.... Anyhow still 10k cheaper than their Lagos office.

Exactement !!! That is the best part... Then, I believe the exam will be taken in Nigeria because other TCF versions are, but we will know for sûre on Dec5th when centres will be available on their website..

I dont think anyone is easier... I just hâte the delay associated with TEF... TCF is more like IELTS. You get to sée your result 15 days after taking the exam and u can rewrite every 30 days...
