My HP 2000 has a screen-light problem and the engineer examined and said it is a board problem. After trying to "work" it to no avail, he recommended replacing the board.

I want to know how much it costs ( new/ used) , so I can know what to expect when I go to meet the guy.

I have a notebook 2000. So explain more how the screen problem manifests. Have you tried connecting the laptop to an external screen?

Morning...@Lexus..I gave it an engr,he changed the screen but it is still not displaying when put on..When the power button is pressed it will just display only on the LED lights(the volume and bluetooth),for few seconds,and then goes off..

So what did the engr said is the problem with your computer?

Possible source of problem >>> bad screen, bad screen flex, bad RAM, improperly sitted RAM, bad screen module (screen inverter),bad processor, 'VGA' problem or even problem from other parts of the board... goodluck!

Sorry bro! Your mother board is 'RETURNING LIGHT'. Give it to a competent hand to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Ya i have. But no option for activate windows is showing. Its almost like the computer recognizes that the windows is activated. Just dont know why the activate windows prompt keeps coming up.

Seems your OS is missing a file and you may likely reinstall windows.

If you're sure it's not the cable, then get a new hard disk casing as instructed you by the brother above me. The casing is the container housing the hard disk drive and it comes with a hard disk connector.
...... OR meet a competent hand to help you. I have helped some resolve their external hard drive problems.

The Oga above me has said it all. Activate it (where possible) or reload windows

instead of loading the windows it was just displaying some text like " windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to the computer. But at the buttom of the text, it was displaying

The operating system (windows) has corrupted. If you stay in Lagos, then I can help you fix it. Meanwhile, your computer with desperately be attempting to boot to windows but will fail on each attempt. I'm sorry for this inconvenience that's fixable within 40 minutes.

Reload your pc with new OS if the OS is suspected to have corrupted.

The problem may also come from a 'failing' Hard Disk Drive.

Cmos battery is sold for as low as N100. But the engr that will disassemble and assemble your computer for the purpose of replacing the cmos battery may charge between 1k and 5k depending on the architecture of the computer.
