Delhi’s “plastics king” Bhanwarlal Doshi has given up his business empire to embrace Jain monk’s life.

In the late 70s Doshi rejected his father’s offer to join his family’s modest business and started his own one. The son of a small textile merchant started plastic trading business believing that he would reach the top of his trade. And he did.

The Huffington Post reports that Doshi built a business empire worth $100 million trading in plastic raw material.

However, on May 31, Sunday, he gave it all up to become a Jain monk at a heavily attended event at the Ahmedabad Education Society. His consecration ceremony was attended by both spiritual leaders and the city’s top industrialists.

It would be noted that Doshi’s status as a Jain monk will be unique because he is a married man, has money and considerable social status.

This guy is sweet, charming, flirtatious, and basically everything you imagined him to be, while you’re around. But when you’re not around? Well, he’ll be that same sweet, charming, and flirtatious guy with the next girl. For him, it’s not about commitment, it’s about the moment. That’s definitely not a guy you can trust. Ever.

Mr. Keepin’ My Options Open

At least 208 people have been killed after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck 80km east of Pokhara in Nepal about half way between the town and the capital Kathmandu.

Police said on Saturday that the toll was according to an "initial estimate". Nepal's Information Minister Minendra Rijal told India's NDTV station that there are reports of damage in and around Kathmandu.

He said rescue teams were responding.

Photos posted on Twitter showed buildings left in rubble, large cracks along roads and worried residents on the streets. At least 50 people are trapped under an ancient tower in Kathmandu which collapsed in the quake.

The epicentre was 80km northwest of Kathmandu, he said. The Kathmandu Valley is densely populated with nearly 2.5 million, with the quality of buildings often poor. Eagle eyes in Aso Rock claim that the President and his family members have started packing out of the Presidential Villa ahead of the scheduled handover ceremony.

The town of Ifasan in Osun State was thrown into confusion over the past weekend when it witnessed a strange birth where a new born baby came out with horns on his forehead.

It was shock and pandemonium in Ifosan area of Ilesa in Osun State when a pregnant woman was delivered of a baby with horn-like appendages on his forehead where the eyes are supposed to be.

The deformed baby which brought fear in the community was born on Friday March 26, 2015, to a 25-year-old woman who had been without a fruit of the womb after three years of marriage.

According to the Tribune Newspaper, what would have been a moment of joy for the family of the woman turned out to be an item of monstrosity and the people of the community have been consulting different deities to stem what they see as an abomination.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is positioning the new Young Democratic Party (YDP) as its next joker in the bid to reschedule this year’s elections again.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega has said that he can’t guarantee the conduct of the general elections on March 28 and April 11.

Jega stated this on Wednesday, February 18, while appearing before the Senate to explain INEC’s readiness to conduct the polls.

The INEC chairman added that only the military could determine if the elections would hold on the scheduled dates.

When asked to give a clear assurance on the dates, Jega said:

“I think it is a very difficult question to answer. I have said consistently that there are things under the control of electoral commission and there are things that are not under the control of electoral commission. For things that are under our control, I can give definite and categorical assurances.”

“On what is not under our control, it is futile, it is fruitless and useless to give a definite guarantee on them. I think that question should be directed appropriately. The questions of security, I will leave it, I don’t think I am competent to answer it sufficiently,” he added.

Jega however stated that any further demand for postponement of the polls would be unconstitutional.

“Every Nigerian knows we want elections to hold… within a constitutional time frame. The security agencies are (made up of) patriotic Nigerians. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. We should be fair also to the military. Soldiers are also patriotic Nigerians. I don’t see how anybody will contemplate any extension beyond these six weeks. There is no constitutional grounds upon which you can do that. For us, we work by the constitution, by the law. Bayelsa state has been thrown into mourning as at least 11 female supporters of Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash that occurred on Saturday night, February 14.

According to Premium Times report, the women were returning from Okrika in Rivers state where they had gone to pay a two-day a solidarity visit to the first lady.
