Saudi Arabian government has executed 47 people in one day including the prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr after convicting them of Terrorist related activities that have occurred in the last decade.

According to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Interiors, the executed men believed in extremist ideology, were members of terror groups, and they were convicted of plotting and carrying out attacks against civilians going back as far at an attack on the U.S. consulate in Jeddah in 2004. The interior ministry statement began with Koranic verses justifying the use of execution and state television showed footage of the aftermath of al-Qaida attacks in the last decade.

This is simple wickedness and devilish. A 25-year-old man, Abubakar Ibrahim, is currently being detained by the police in Taraba State for allegedly killing his two-months-old baby because he did not want to accept it because it was born out of wedlock by his lover.

The incident which happened at Unguwan Yandan in Jalingo, the state capital, according to information, occurred after Ibrahim failed to take care of the baby and the woman who delivered the child for him out of wedlock. It was learnt that the suspect and the child’s mother, Karshe Harmuel, also 25, were living together as lovers before she got pregnant but when she was close to her Expected Day of Delivery (EDD), she left him to live with her uncle.

After she gave birth to a baby boy, Harmuel's family members said Ibrahim ended the relationship and left her to take care of the baby. The mother narrated that she had gone to meet Ibrahim on the fateful day to demand for money to buy soap and baby lotion and in the heat of anger, she left the baby behind, not knowing that he had a sinister motive in his mind.

“When I met him in the room, I asked him why he abandoned us. I told him since he decided to jilt me, he had to take care of his son. As I realised that he was not willing to listen to me, I left the baby with him and returned home. A few minutes after I went back to pick my baby, I saw the man choking the neck of the baby.” Harmuel's uncle’s wife, Cecilia Hosea, said she urged Karshe to go back and pick her child.

“I asked Karshe to go back and pick the baby. When she brought back the baby, I collected the child. I then saw white fluid coming out from his month. I noticed that the baby had died. Karshe did not know that she was carrying a dead baby.” Her uncle, John Hosea, who took care of her and the child, said he travelled to the village when the incident happened.

“I was in the village when the incident happened. If I were at home when Karshe decided to take the baby to the man, I would not have allowed her. A huge fire has engulfed a high-rise hotel in central Dubai near the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa. Burning debris could be seen falling from the 300m-tall (1,000-feet) building. The government says there are minor injuries and most of the fire is under control. The blaze erupted ahead of a major New Year's Eve fireworks display, due to be held at the Burj Khalifa. There is no indication so far as to the cause of the blaze.

Up to two million people are expected in central Dubai for the fireworks. Crowds gathering to watch the display have been asked to leave the area around the Address Hotel. Officials insist that the New Year celebrations will continue as scheduled. Flames rapidly engulfed much of the building, a five-star hotel and apartment complex with more than 60 storeys, within 10 minutes.

Mrs. Felicia Bassey representing Okobo state constituency and Chair Person, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Welfare Matters, made history by being elected as the first Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

In a statement released yesterday in Uyo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Kufre Okon, said Bassey emerged the first female Deputy Speaker during Tuesday’s plenary, to replace the former Deputy Speaker, Mr. Effiong Bassey, representing Oron/Udung Uko state constituency, whose election was nullified last week by the Appeal Court in Abuja.

The Speaker, Mr. Onofiok Luke, who administered the oath of office on the new Deputy Speaker encouraged her to live up to the expectation of the sixth Assembly while discharging her legislative duties.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator representing Kaduna state at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has adopted 60 orphans as his children from the Adonai Orphanage Home of the state. Shehu Sani vowed to take up the bills of 2 of the children from the orphanage home to continue their education in China. He also said he will take of all the expenses of all the orphans in the home. The Kaduna-born senator made this known on Sunday, December 27 when he visited the orphanage home to offer food items in the spirit of the festive period.

In the words of Shehu Sani, he said even though the orphans have no parents to care for them, they should be given the utmost care every other child deserve. He said: “We owe it to them; to support them and make their lives useful and beneficial to the society. “And what we can do is to give their lives hope, and to make it possible for them to realise their dreams, these are all handsome and beautiful children when you see their faces you remember the ones you have in the house.

“We should also take cognizance that any child can fall into this circumstance, so as a senator representing this zone, I formally adopt these children as my own, and we will quarterly send support to this home to enable you feed this children and take proper support of them and work on the possibility of their education.

Finest Girl in Benue 2015, Miss Paulyn Agbo who was dethroned barely a month after she was crowned for alleged "lack of decorum, deceit and defamation of character" has spoken out for the first time. According to a statement issued by the organizers of the pageant, Dumas Events, the beauty queen breached contract agreement by organizing a victory dinner in Abuja without recognizing them. Idoma Voice reports that when Miss Agbo was confronted, she hired thugs to beat up the organizers claiming she had no contractual agreement with them.

In a statement released by the former beauty queen, she accused the organizers of theft, lying and also denied hiring thugs to beat anybody up. Read the full statement below:



“It all started when I organized my victory dinner party at NAF Conference Center Abuja,with the help of my uncle Spitz Josef who helped in the planning,all expenses for the dinner was from my pocket. I rented the VIP hall at NAF for 350,000 not including the food and drinks, I roughly spent close to 600,000 from my pocket.


“After the dinner the only cash realised was that of the former Minister of Interior (Comrade Abba Moro) which was 250,000 aside pledges, because of the trust I had for the organization, Dumas events, the money was collected by them from the former minister. At the end of the event, they vanished with the money leaving me stranded, as I was yet to balance NAF for food drinks, DJ and MC.


“All effort to reach them on phone proved abortive, the only conversation they managed to have with me was they are not having any conversation till the next day. “I was held up by the military men at NAF because I didn’t finish making payments, I had to call the Hon former Minister because I introduced them to him on his arrival which the President (of Dumas Events) sat with him all through the event.


He called them and they agreed to return back, when they returned, they were only coming for negotiations and not to bring any money, all efforts by the security men pleading to save me and bring back the money so I could pay the bills proved abortive as Mr Clef Obida, the Dumas event manager refused to listen to men on uniform who were only there to maintain peace. I, Miss Paulyn Naths couldn’t have hired any thugs to beat anybody up.

Christmas was bad for traders in the popular Sango Market, Ibadan as fire razed over 200 shops in the plank section of the market. The fire reportedly started around 3pm, burned for several hours and as at 8pm, it still hadn't been put out. According to information gathered, planks estimated at ‎over N250m was lost in the disaster.


The Oyo State Fire Service finally responded to the inferno and was seen racing towards Eleyele Water Works for a refill when it ran out of water. A trader in the market said the fire started after he left his shop.
He said: “Shortly after I attended to a customer who called me on phone, I had the call that the shops had caught fire”.

Another trader Mr. Afolabi said several sawing machines and other logging equipment were lost in the fire.
He added: “Each time the vehicle left to refill water, we lost more shops because the fire would gain more ground. An unemployed Senegalese man who was rescued by the Spanish coastguard after making a risky journey from Morocco eight years ago on a packed wooden boat won 400,000 euros ($437,000) in Spain’s annual Christmas lottery, local media reported Wednesday.

The man, identified only by his first name Ngame, was one of the holders of one of the 1,600 tickets with the winning number in the draw draw. He made an illegal entry into Europe with his wife. “I just can’t believe this, I can tell you that on some days we do not have five euros between the two of us,” he told the newspaper which published a photo of Ngame holding his winning ticket.

Ngame and his wife arrived eight years ago in the resort island of Tenerife, a part of Spain’s Canary Islands in the Atlantic off the coast of Morocco. They were taken there after being rescued by Spain’s coast guard when the boat they were travelling in ran into trouble.
