An Israeli media, on Monday revealed that the United States of America has stopped Nigeria’s purchase of Chinook military helicopters from Israel to fight Boko Haram.

85-year-old Goodluck Uwumahongie, who was the community leader in Arougba village, Oredo local government area of Benin metropolis, has been beheaded by unknown persons, allegedly over a land fight.

Police sources confirmed that the killers left with the victim’s head. The assailants were said to have shot late Uwumahongie before they chopped off his head. He was said to have been alone at his in-law’s residence in Irhirhi village when the attackers struck.

54 retired members of staff of Local Government workers in Akwa Ibom State are reported to have died while waiting for their retirement benefits to be paid by the state Government.

This was disclosed by the chairman, Board of Trustees, Association for the Welfare of Retired Local Government Staff, Emmanuel Usoro.

Addressing newsmen in Uyo last week, Emmanuel Usoro blamed the state government for the plight of retirees in the state. A scuffle broke out at the tollgate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, between some police officers and officials of the Department of State Service over toll fee.

An eyewitness, Wale Williams, said the DSS officials, who also had some policemen in their convoy of three vehicles, seized a toll collector for allegedly demanding money from them, saying they were “officers of the law.”
