Boss, are you certain you got a full scholarship? The other day, you claimed you don't know what the details of the scholarship entails but you're certain it covers tuition and expenses. For IRCC to break this point down to you, it means that you'll cover the tuition and part of the living expenses till you start collecting your stipend from the program. Write to your school and confirm again and send them the GCMS notes to get their thoughts.

techgen:
My NL family, I greet you all.

I finally got my GCMS notes, and the reason given seems crazy as I have a fully funded scholarship.

I appeal to you all to look into the matter for me. Your suggestions is highly needed for a successful study permit.

Note: I didn't include my company SOA, because it was moniepoint MFB and I stopped using it since last year, technically i only have last year bank statements.

I need guidance, so I can reapply asap.

Thank you all for your attention to this matter.

GIC isn't a guarantee. I have read some people who did it and didn't get it. But it's far more better as POF because it shows that you have access to the money. Google CIBC GIC and you'll see a link to the site. Also search for GIC on YouTube, some Indians have done a video on the process. You can only pay for it once and they don't accept naira. You must use a Dom account to send the money. It's very important to ensure that your name on your Dom account must match and be arranged exactly the same way you opened your GIC account. You can't send the money from any account except your own Dom account. When I did mine, I used UBA bank and within 2 days they received the money.
Daaaz0409:
I don’t mind buying a GIC if it will guarantee that I’ll not have pof issue with my Visa. What are the steps to do it please.
And is it a better option as compared to just leaving the money in the account for 6 months
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 8:31am On Sep 13, 2024
Why don't you transfer the money to your account or do GIC?
Daaaz0409:
No, it’s my dads normal account. I should still put the same property sales docs right. Thank you very much

Good evening sir. Google Pay4Me. It's an app that helps international student pay for their fees and application fee in Naira. Also check out, Tuition by Flutterwave (I don't know if they are still operating, but check them out). If you don't trust these platforms, convert your naira to USD with a bureau de change and send to your Dom account. Open a form A application to process the money from your Dom account (I have a UBA Dom account and this is how they do theirs. I don't know about other banks).
Muslimity:
@MarksmanD:

Please kindly advise me how I can pay my tution fees balance from Naira to CAD.

Thanks in anticipation of your quick response.

You said Conestoga revoked your admission. Then you applied for a deferment. For Conestoga to revoke your admission, it means you're no longer admitted by the school into any of the academic session. You can't defer what you don't have anymore. You will have to reapply into the same course program. If IRCC contact Conestoga to confirm your LOA, Conestoga would simply tell them that your admission has been revoked.
Essential01:
Thanks for the reply. If my deferral approve, how will i update it to ircc? And do i need to send a mail to ircc at this point?

I said I don't know much about Japan and I prefer Canada because it's more multicultural than Japan.
Crystalgirl:
I beg to differ! Japan has the 3rd largest economy in the world just behind USA and China, Japan is among the top 10 countries for the best education in the world, above Canada. As a student you work for 28hrs/week. And unlike Canada, it’s not expensive to live there, you spend way less for more value than you can get in Canada and need I say that they also have the best cuisines? With masters in Japan, you can easily transition to the US via PHD.

Yes. A month ago on OJC telegram group, a lady applied for reconsideration after two rejections and she got it.
samuelgodson:
Good afternoon everyone, trust you all are having a good day.
I would love to know if anyone has or heard of someone who has applied for reconsideration of a decision on an application that was submitted and rejected with all loopholes covered, lump sums explained, strong family ties, proof of business registration and existence of the business (pictorial and government records) several proofs of business activities, tax certificate submitted, school fees paid in full, POF of 81.3 million naira and 4 landed properties was also uses.

The refusal was based on assets and financial situations.
Province applied for was Ontario.

I'll start of with congrats. Thank God you got the study visa. I'll advise you to quickly reply again and once you get the LOA and new PAL, send it to IRCC via webform.

febishola20:
About this, my application was eventually approved last week but school had already cancelled my admission, I contacted them to ask if they can re-activate my application they said no that I have to apply again, the next available intake for the program is September of next year, I just want to know if this would not affect me at the POE if I opt to resume next year and also can I apply for another course for the January intake ( it’s also related to my course of study) I need urgent reply please everyone

When did you apply for deferment? I deferred 14 days before classes was supposed to start. Exactly a week later, they approved my deferment and I was given a new LOA and Receipt.
Essential01:
Please help
Conestoga college revoked my admission while visa is processing because of delay in submitting stidy permit documents to them.

I have applied for deferral but not yet processed
Will this affect my study permit application?

Order for your GCMS notes and wait for 3 weeks till you get it, then you can reapply. That's where you can get the main reason why you were denied. Hopefully your reapplication would be successful.

It's really unfair to Nigerians who have funds to japa yet get denied for fund reasons, while those who don't have enough funds get a study visa. I know we all want to japa out of Nigeria, but for your mental health, japa with proof of funds you have access to. You can't predict life in abroad if you don't have a close family that has settled there for a long time. Stop toying with your mental health and safety, please go with enough funds you have access to.

You're in the UK, any reason why you want to go to Canada instead of just settling in the UK? What you have is more than enough for you to study in Canada. But please sir, convert that your 20m to USD or GBP. Stop risking your money in naira.
chiemson1:
Hello my boss them,

Please my tuition fee is about 20k cad and 20k cad living expenses which I have paid the minimum deposit of 1k cad,
I currently work in UK with NHS and I have 2 years visa in uk. I have a balance of 15k pounds and 20M naira

My question is that will this be enough to cover all as my program is 1 year diploma in healthcare aide ??

What do you have to say about Japan compared to Canada?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 10:34am On Aug 29, 2024
What Germany have done is better boss. If Canada had enforced every student to open a GIC account, maybe some students who submitted fake account statements with the intent of working to pay for their living expenses and school fees won't have faced the hardship that has caused some of the student crisis in Canada. Also, almost all German public schools are tuition free and the ones you even pay for tuition collects far lesser tuition fees than Canadian public schools where you pay 10x more than a residents.
I have two acquaintances who migrated to Germany almost a decade when they started their free tuition, they stopped schooling and have transitioned into their labor markets. Like dem never graduate till now ooo!
If not because I had bad grades in uni, I would have just gone to Germany since. Let's not compare both both countries. Germany is so far better than Canada in everything.

Predator188:
You didn't include that students are required to open blocked account of 11,208 euro in Germany for living expenses prior to obtaining student visa plus heath insurance..
And the money will be frozen after you arrived you are required to withdraw only 992 euro per month for monthly expenses..
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 10:22am On Aug 29, 2024
Canada isn't bad. The problem with Canada is they didn't plan well for mass migration. People who migrated to Canada before Covid-19 have had it better. It was Canada's open door migration after the lockdown that has made it look bad. Canada are trying to clean up the mess they created with mass migration because it has affected their housing and job market and the economy. Let me tell you for a fact, compare the people who migrated to Canada and the UK a decade ago. Those who are in Canada are doing far better than those in the UK. They have gotten permanent residency, citizenship, bought a house, started their own jobs. I don't blame Canada and Australia right now, but they need to clean up the mess they created. It might take a decade to clean it up. It's very possible to get a 3 years PGWP and not get permanent residency. The whole process thing is based on luck, but you can increase your chances to get lucky. Don't be discouraged, Canada might be the place God wants you to go to. So just pray about it instead of dwelling on the negatives.

chrisifeanyi:
Why are people moving to Canada rather than Germany?
I want to fully understand.
Nobody in Canada has ever come up to advice another to come over. Is it truly bad over there?
Can someone exhaust his 3 years PGWP without PR even when he started applying for PR immediately after school?
Your advice will help with certain decisions.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 2:30am On Aug 29, 2024
When I was in secondary school, classmates used to say a quote when in a dilemma like "you're in heaven, but you want to still go to hell."
Germany is heaven. Canada and Australia are hell. Depends on your residency status in Germany, but if you're settled there and fully assured there, just learn German and start your life there. Canada and Australia are distractions you don't need right now because they don't want migrants, especially international students. Also there no jobs in these two countries and their economy isn't better than Germany. If you think Germany taxes are too high for 14% for every 59k, Canada is 15% and Australia is 16%. Also, their currencies CAD and AUD, are very inferior to the EUR. Don't be enticed by what you see on social media about Canada and Australia. The only country I can tell you to relocate to over Germany is the USA. Like the famous proverb says: the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Please do your research before you take my advice.
kamaladejoke:
Hello guys I am currently in Germany and I am considering Canada and Australia which one to go and forward my increase in, please any idea guys
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 2:14am On Aug 29, 2024
You can only go about it if you have the money in foreign currencies (USD, GBP, CAD) and you can only pay with a domiciliary account. When you open your GIC account, ensure that the name you used to open the account is exactly the same as the one on your dom account. Same arrangements of first and middle names. Your sponsor can't send the money from their Dom account to your GIC account. The money must be sent from your Dom account to your GIC account. Both names on the account must match. You can do GIC of 10k cad or 20,600 cad or more. But you can only send the money once, you can't top-up on your investment. You have to decide what amount you would be sending first. I used UBA when I did mine. I was told to open an application request via the Form A portal so they can process the application. Within 3 days, CIBC confirmed payment of the transfer. I did mine at the UBA branch Ikeja, Awolowo road, not too far from Ikeja City Mall. I watched some videos on YouTube some Indians did before I proceeded to doing mine to be assured about it. You can also search for the videos on YouTube. Good luck chief on your next application.

@MarksmanD and other well wishers,

I am happy to share the good news that my PPR letter landed early this morning.

I submitted all the requested additional documents with a truthful LOE to IRCC, and the caring Lord answered my prayer. Alhamdulillah, all glory to Him.

Please advise on the most effective and fast option for submitting my passport for stamping.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 5:32am On Aug 23, 2024
Send it through a webform. Just write why you should be reconsidered for the study visa. It doesn't guarantee that your file would be reopened, but at least try while awaiting your GCMS notes for reapplication.
Marcgrace:
Hello @MarksmanD
This is my third study permit refusal. Can you guide me through the process of submitting a reconsideration application?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 12:35pm On Aug 22, 2024
This is so painful boss. I pray you get a PPR in your reapplication. Also if you're sure that you explained the source of funds with evidences, apply for a reconsideration.
Marcgrace:
Hello @Everyone!
My study permit application was refused yesterday based on the following factors:
• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel
for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).
I paid for two years of tuition, had two statement of accounts of 26 million Naira and 28,000 Dollars.
I'm feeling let down and could use some guidance - any advice would be appreciated.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 12:32pm On Aug 22, 2024
This can't be true. There is a reason why PAL was distributed to the provinces. I'm on OJC telegram channel and most of the people posting PPR screenshots are masters students. Looks like IRCC no send college study applications.
chrisifeanyi:
Someone said that IRCC has exceeded the number of visa needed for the year by 25% hence the baseless refusals. I think he's right because some refusals here are baseless.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 4:39pm On Aug 21, 2024
Yes. In case you want to withdraw and get your money back. Some school refund policy might be they won't return your fees only if there's a visa denial.
chrisifeanyi:
Please what about visa refusal? Should it still be mentioned?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 10:43am On Aug 21, 2024
Yes, you should. If it's a visa delay write it as the reason.
chrisifeanyi:
Please do I have to state reason why applying to school to defer my admission?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 7:59am On Aug 21, 2024
There's no way you can resume on the 3rd of September. Take your time on this and decide on deferring, but do everything IRCC ask of you. Please, give a detailed explanation of why you moved funds with proof of short term investment receipt, but don't state that you always wanted to defer your admission.
Muslimity:
Thanks @MarksmandD.

I will write IRCC as advised and ask for more time. But do you think I can ask for more time beyond University resumption date which is Sept 3rd which is a week after the IRCC deadline (Aug 26th)?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 7:05am On Aug 21, 2024
Write to IRCC asking for more time to submit the updated documents and genuinely state why it'll take time to get the documents ready. Also what you did isn't right. Until you have gotten your study permit in Canada, that's when you can touch your POF. If you're scared of devaluation, just convert your money to USD or GBP and put it in a Dom account. I pray you come out of this with good news. And I hope others too can learn from you.
Muslimity:
Thanks @Duchess102.

I actually thought they are requesting these documents because the last one I send with my application is truly blurry due to the smallness of the font size of Firstbank's statement.

Anyways, that is bygone now. As you rightly mentioned I hope to liquidate the investment and ask the money be paid back into my firstbank account by the microfinance bank. I will also ask the microfinance institution to issue to me documents proving the investment and what accrued interest within the period. I hope this will suffice to convince the VO?

Regarding the fact that I ought to have paid fully for the first term, I am very concerned claiming the school not refunding paid fund after visa denial because I do not have any evidence to back such claims. My main reason which I hope to reiterate in the LOE I will be sending in my response is that the University only requires tuition deposit and that first term tuition balance can be paid till 17th Sept without late payment penalty. And this can be validated.

Also I wish to state that I did not want to just keep the money idle in my account while waiting for the visa approval, hence I decided to put it in the microfinance investment for a short term profit. Do you also think this arguement is sufficient to convince the VO?

I plan to inform the investment bank today about liquidating my investment, and I know it may take like 2 days before the repayment of my invested fund hit my bank account. I am concerned if I then attend to pay the balance tuition to my university by Friday, I may not be able to receive a current tution balance payment receipt/student statement which IRCC is requesting I submit before August 26th.

Please, what is your advice about this?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 8:12pm On Aug 20, 2024
You can't use Revolut in Nigeria. You need a valid UK visa or residency permit to setup an account. I think you can open a Wise but you can't send money directly to a Nigerian account. A trick I used is to setup a Wise account and a Payoneer account. Payoneer receiving account is a little bit complicated to setup. You send money from Wise to Payoneer to your Dom account.
mikeayus:
Hi bro, can you please tell me how you were able to setup Revolut account...its asking me for country of residence and nigeria isn't on the list
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 6:01pm On Aug 19, 2024
Boss, you're just giving yourself anxiety over something that is beyond your control. The problem is from IRCC, they have a quota distribution problem. Especially if your school is in Ontario. Just be prayerful that everything turns out well for you. Or you can defer to January if your school has a slot for the program.
Marcgrace:
Hello @Eckimalu
Wishing you a speedy PPR approval !
I called Qlife Hospital Lagos to inquire about the status of my medical report and I was informed that it was submitted to IRCC on August 13th. Did you received an update too on when your medical report was submitted to IRCC?
Thanks a lot !
