SportsJames Corden Races Usain Bolt For 'fastest Man In The World' Title by marryjesus(op): 10:19am On Oct 02, 2016
James Corden can nail a carpool karaoke, but pound the pavement? Not so much.
That was pretty obvious when "The Late Late Show" host challenged Usain Bolt, aka the world's fastest man, to a 100-meter race in a studio parking lot.
The 16-second showdown went exactly as you'd think it would go. But the result was yet another win for the master of the viral moment.
Bolt, with six Olympic gold medals to his name, stood at the starting line, proudly sporting Jamaica's colors.
Corden, with zero medals, intensely stretched and grew visibly anxious as the race approached.
They were joined by actor Owen Wilson and show staff.
Wilson was disqualified for a false start even before they get going. Bolt obviously won.
Corden came in ... 21st.

PoliticsSegun Oni:without Buhari Nigerians Would Have Been Refugees By Now by marryjesus(op): 7:33am On Oct 02, 2016
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, says Nigeria would have been a better country without President Muhammadu Buhari.

Onuesoke spoke to journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in reaction to the statement credited to a former governor of Ekiti State and now Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Segun Oni, that without Buhari Nigerians would have been refugees by now.He said it is unfortunate that people like Oni would continue to make excuses to justify the failure of the APC administration instead of rolling up their sleeves and getting down to doing the serious job of growing the economy. The PDP chieftain said: “When a lie is repeated over and over, it begins to sound like the truth. In the darkest period of military regime, did the Nigerian people become refugees? This is just a poor way to keep on with the excuse of failure and ineptitude.Segun Oni should realize that Nigerians are not only refugees under this present administration, they are also suffering from kwashiokor and mental affliction induced by the poor mismanagement of the economy by the APC-led administration.
Move around all the nooks and crannies of the country, from North to South, East to West and you will admit that things cannot be worse than what Nigerians are experiencing under this administration.

PoliticsDonald Trump Attacks Ex-miss Universe Again, Says Hillary Clinton Was ‘duped’ by marryjesus(op): 5:22pm On Sep 30, 2016
U.S Republican party presidential candidate has blasted the ex-Miss Universe Alicia Machado who claimed he called her Miss piggy and Miss Housekeeping in 1996 because she had gained weight after winning the pageant and because of her Latina roots.

Trump called her his 'worst' Miss Universe winner, and also suggested Hillary Clinton helped the Venezuelan ex-model beauty get into the U.S. so she can get back at him this election period.
Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an "angel" without checking her past, which is terrible!” Trump tweeted.

BusinessRecession: Prices Of Food Soer Higher As Carton Of Fish Hit N22,000 by marryjesus(op): 4:23pm On Sep 30, 2016
Recession: As the country celebrates its 56th independence anniversary, some women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have decried the continuous hike in the prices of food items in the market as carton of fish hit N22,000.

Some of them, who spoke with newsmen in Abuja on Friday called on government at all levels to introduce price regulatory system to protect the consumers from unwarranted price hike.

Mrs Agnes Itoro, a housewife, told pressmen that some traders were using the pretext of the economic recession to hike prices of food items on a daily basis and indiscriminately. “My husband gives me N10, 000 for the purchase of food items every month for four members of my house. But now even if he releases N15, 000 or even N20, 000, it will not be enough for the list of items I normally purchase.

“I normally use some of the remaining monies from the market to cater for my needs.

“Now, it is not even enough for the items we need at home monthly,’’ she said.

A civil servant, Mrs Lilian Ibekwe, told journalists that prices of the food items had increased but there was no increment in salaries to complement it. She said, ”this issue needs urgent attention, if not people will begin to eat once in a day”.

Mrs Florence Iwotor, a food vendor, said the increase in the prices of food items was negatively affecting her business. “I cook and sell food but at the end of the day, I do not make any profit because I do not even cover the cost of goods bought.

“I am contemplating quitting the businesses because I put a lot of efforts under the rain and the sun still, I do not make the desired profit to make ends meet in my family,’’ Iwotor told newsmen. Meanwhile, the survey conducted by pressmen in some markets in Utako, Nyanya and Mararaba markets revealed that prices of some food items had doubled.

A carton of iced fish at Utako market, previously sold between N12, 000 and N12, 500, is now being sold at N22, 000 depending on the specie of the fish at Nyanya market.

A bag of rice which was sold between N7, 000 and N12, 000 now goes for between N17, 000 and N22, 000 in all major markets. A 20 litres gallon of red oil which was sold between N7, 000 and N9, 000, now sells for N12, 500 at Mararaba market.

Also, a 20 litres gallon of vegetable oil sold at N6, 000 and N8, 000 previously now sells at between N12, 000 to N13, 000. A bag of garri which was sold at N6, 000 is now being sold between N10, 000 and N12, 000.

Mrs Uche Ajegba, an iced fish seller at the market, attributed the increase in the price of fish to increase in import duty and exchange rate. Some traders in the market told newsmen that they were selling according to the price they bought the products.

PoliticsBiafra: Soludo Asks Buhari To Release Nnamdi Kanu Because Of 2019 Elections by marryjesus(op): 12:04am On Sep 30, 2016
Onetime governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Thursday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

The former CBN governor, while speaking during the presentation of a book entitled, ‘The Politics of Biafra and the Future of Nigeria,’ in Abuja, noted that Kanu was not popular until security agents arrested him last year.

Recalling how Chief Obafemi Awolowo was imprisoned for treason in the 1960s and how that endeared him to the Yoruba, Soludo said Kanu’s prolonged detention would make him a hero or a martyr, which would not stop the current agitation for Biafra.

Soludo warned that if the embattled Director of Radio Biafra was not released, his detention could be used as a campaign tool in 2019, just as the pardoning of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu was used by Shehu Shagari to gain support in the 1980s.

The Department of States Services, DSS, had late last year arrested Kanu in Lagos.

PoliticsOsinbajo Shifts Blame Again by marryjesus(op): 10:24am On Sep 21, 2016
How we respond to an issue is in many cases more important than the issue itself. And one such issue is the current economic travails Nigeria is currently grappling with.
The response to this issue is definitely more important than the issue itself and will determine how long we remain in the sinkhole with our economy. What our leaders have unfortunately failed to realize is that how we got into this situation is not as important as how we will get out of it it and if we must look backwards it must be for the purpose of learning how we got to our present situation and not for the reason of searching for scapegoats. There is no virtue in looking for blame. The virtue is in looking for solutions. That is what an executive must preoccupy itself with. The apportioning of blame is the preserve of the judiciary. Leave that to them. After blaming the current economic crash of the economy on former President Goodluck Jonathan on multiple occasions, I was shocked to read in today’s (Tuesday the 20th of September, 2016) papers a direct statement by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in which he blamed Nigeria’s economic recession on Niger Delta Militants. The Vice President, while speaking at the maiden meeting of the Presidential Quarterly Business Forum on Monday the 19th of September, 2016 said “If we did not have vandalism in the Niger Delta as we are currently suffering, we will not have this recession today. Now do not get me wrong, I do not speak for, advocate for or encourage any militants group in Nigeria’s Niger Delta or in any other theaters of belligerency in any part of the world. On the contrary, I am a pastor and preacher of the peaceful message of the one and only Prince of peace, Jesus the Messiah, yet I must say that Vice President Osinbajo’s comments betray a very serious character issue that may affect his capacity to assist President Muhammadu Buhari in piloting the affairs of Nigeria. Why do I say so? Well, for one, Nigerians have been regaled with multiple statements from Mr. Osinbajo himself, his boss and their mouthpieces in which they blamed Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for Nigeria’s economic recession. The latest attempt to pin the blame on Dr. Jonathan came via an article by Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, entitled ‘What is President Buhari doing with the economy?’
Said Garba Shehu “Believe me; episodes from the Jonathan era can fill books, and other possibilities, such as courtroom drama thriller.” Going further, Mr. Shehu declared that “The current pain is due to the mismanagement of the past. And now today, Mr. Shehu’s ‘cousin in office’ (to borrow a phrase that Garba Shehu himself used to describe the relationship between Dr. Reuben Abati and I) has contradicted him and said it is no longer former President Goodluck Jonathan that is to blame but Niger Delta militants. Please, can this administration make up its mind? Choose a story and stick to it. Choose a scape goat and stick with him.I will not be surprised if tomorrow they blame Mr. Chinakwe, the man who was sent to prison and is right now facing prosecution for naming his dog after his hero, President Buhari, for the recession.
The truth does not shift. You cannot have one truth today and another truth tomorrow. Truth is as stable as a rock. And one would think that Professor Yemi Osinbajo, himself a pastor, would know it.What you are is always more important than what you can do. Your character is what you are. Your skill is what you can do. It is important to know the difference because if your skill takes you to a height and you do not develop your character to match that height, you will come crashing down!

PoliticsGov. Shettima:why I Abandoned Bullet Proof Cars by marryjesus(op): 8:05pm On Sep 18, 2016
Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno said he abandoned the use of bullet proof cars as an act of sympathy with the
suffering masses who had no means of self protection from terrorists.
Shettima stated this on Sunday in an interview with our correspondent in Maiduguri. He said that the action was also aimed at showing that the terrorists had no super natural powers.“We have to dare the terrorists; I have bullet proof cars, but I do not use them; I want to be exposed to the elements as the ordinary people do,” Shettima said.He said the bullet proof cars were only kept for the use of visitors who might be afraid to use ordinary cars.We have so many bullet proof cars but we only use them for our
guests.Sometimes I drive myself round the town to see things for myself,” Shettima said. The governor also attributed his numerous achievement in office to dedication and hard work. There is no magic in our achievements, except that where there is will, there is the way; like I always say, there is no politics better than the contentment of the people.
You are there not because you are the best among the people of the
state; I am the governor not because of my political sagacity, intellectual prowess, parental back ground or physical strength, ” he said.Shettima added: ” This is because even within my cabinet, there are many people who supersede me in all these attributes.“Power to me is a very humble experience; it is about what you can do to a great number of people within the time allotted to you to pilot the affairs of the state. He said that with the gradual return of peace in the state, government would unfold a developmental agenda in a few months time.By the grace of God, we are poised for a great change.

SportsChelsea Fans Re-act After On Conte Late Changes by marryjesus(op): 10:14pm On Sep 16, 2016
A dominant Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Friday, goals from Dejan Lovren and Jordan
Henderson halting the London side's unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Liverpool's midfield bossed the game from the start and in the 17th minute Philippe Coutinho launched the ball towards a clutch of unmarked Liverpool players at the far post. Lovren ran in from deep to volley home with the Chelsea defence static.
A glorious piece of skill in the 36th minute underlined Liverpool's superiority. An attempted clearance from defender Gary Cahill fell to Henderson 30 metres out and the midfielder dipped a shot into the top corner of the net past the leaping Thibaut Courtois.Chelsea looked brighter in the second half and got one back

Celebrities70% Of Yoruba Movies Not Scripted – Dele Odule by marryjesus(op): 2:00pm On Sep 16, 2016
As if confirming the fear that many people have about Yoruba movies, seasoned actor, Dele Odule, has said that only a small percentage of films
from the ‘Yoruwood’ section of the industry are scripted.
Critics have observed that poor scripting is the bane of many Nigerian movies, including Nollywood products.
Odule noted that, as far as Yoruba films were concerned, it was a carryover from old theatre practice from which many of the practitioners evolved.
He said, “It is true that many Yoruba films are not scripted. They are 30 per cent scripted and 70 per cent improvised. It boils down to the way theatre practice started and those who started it before the emergence of theatre scholars who now combine the raw talent with the theory of theatre.”
Odule made this known recently when he was hosted by the Ibadan Film Circle, an online forum created by ace director, Niji Akanni.
He spoke on his experience in the industry, the role that the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, a break-away group from the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners, which (TAMPAN) he heads, is playing to advance the course of the profession.
Some people believe that marketers are doing more harm than good to the Nigerian film industry; but Odule, who claimed that he had acted in about 400 films, said the marketers had done their best.
He said, “I need to give it to them, I mean the marketers. But film market is beyond buying and selling. They have been able to sustain the industry in their own way of doing things. What we are trying to do now is to work on their marketing structure and expand the networks. He gives a pass mark to Nollywood itself, saying whatever flaws it had could not be considered in isolation of the Nigerian environment.
“Nollywood has done fantastically well. The problems we have in this country are not peculiar to our industry alone. What do we do rightly in this country? Is it our transportation industry, agriculture, textile – or even the so-called politics – that has become road to success? Can we compare it with those of other countries?
“Despite the fact that we don’t have an enabling environment to practise the trade, we have been able to sustain it and create job opportunities. What we need is an enabling environment and core professionals. This is where we need a body like the Motion Pictures Council of Nigeria,” he added.
Odule stressed that he beileived in MOPICON, but feared that it might not achieve the desired results based on what he described as the overbearing attitude of the leadership of a committee working on its establishment.
The actor said his passion for acting was strong that he jettisoned an opportunity he recently had to possibly become the king of his town, Oru Ijebu, in Ogun State.
The thoroughbred actor, who came to the limelight when he played the role of a king in Baba Wande/Tunde Kelani’s film, Ti Oluwa ni Ile, said he would not want a situation where he

PoliticsBuhari Hits Pdp Again: For 16 Years, No Savings, No Power, No Road, No Security by marryjesus(op): 5:03am On Sep 13, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari is obviously not done with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he hit the
party again monday, dismissing its 16 years in the saddle as extremely wasteful and of no moment.I want Nigerians to realise that what this government inherited after 16 years of the PDP government was no savings, no infrastructure, no power, no rail, no road and no security,” he told journalists in his Daura hometown after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. The attack, which came through a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Shehu Garba, is the second within two days of efforts to explain the nation’s economic recession that has imposed harsh economic conditions on the vast majority of Nigerians, many of whom are now grumbling loudly, asking the president and his administration to deliver more quickly on the change he promised them during electioneering. The president had in an Eid-el-Kabir message on Sunday blamed the recession on the global economic downtown and lack of savings by preceding administrations.
The present recession is as a result of cumulative effects of worldwide economic downturn and failure in the past to plan and save for difficult times,” he had explained.
His comment had attracted a strong rebuke from the PDP which told him to stop grumbling and face up to his task of reviving the economy. The president and his APC were elected to further better the lots of Nigerians, and not to dish out constant complaints on the situation which they mindlessly created not minding the attendant consequences of their actions on our collective destinies,” the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said in a direct reference to the president’s message, adding: “It is, therefore, high time they stopped this unnecessary grumbling and concentrate on how to redeem our economy by providing good governance to the people. But Buhari returned to the same theme yesterday contending that his inheritance was less than illustrious, asking for more time to repair the damage of the past. His message was, however, not all about gloom as he gave a cheering report of progress being made in the agriculture sector, promising that a bountiful harvest was in the offing this year.
‘‘We should thank God this year, the reports I’m getting, which is very pleasing, is that we will have a bumper harvest this year,” he said, thanking Nigerians for their support for his government’s policies, programmes and actions aimed at improving security, revamping the economy and combating the fight against corruption. The president gave further reports on his campaign promises to secure the country and fight corruption and gave himself a pass mark.Nigerians can see what we have done on Boko Haram and what we are doing to resolve the problem in the Niger Delta,” he stated.Buhari said he was committed to delivering on his campaign pledges, adding that his economic revival policies were targeted at job creation, particularly for the youth with agriculture as his core route to employment generation.
For the youths, graduates and non-graduates who are interested in agriculture, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the CBN are doing something to
