HealthHealth Benefits Of Coconut Water by MarshRiley(op): 5:12pm On Dec 02, 2015
Does coconut water have a magical effect as everyone claims? You have probably heard about coconut oil and the numerous benefits it offers. Now, you will read about the biggest advantages of coconut water of which you have probably not heard before.

You probably did not know that coconut water has a practical compatible structure with the blood plasma in human bloodstream. Moreover, coconut water was used in armed conflicts in the past as a replacement for blood and numerous lives were saved in long and exhausting battles.

Nowadays, coconut water is used all around the globe. You can find it in numerous markets which offer you the chance to use the beneficial advantages of this unbelievable fruit. Coconut water does not taste very pleasantly, but this should not be the reason to avoid one of the best detoxification waters in the world.

What happens when you drink this water?

When you consume coconut water you strengthen your immune system and you eliminate the bacteria which cause urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, gum diseases and viruses which cause cold, infection diseases and typhus.

It will not only increase your energy, but it will also increase the production of thyroid gland hormones. This water is also very good for people who suffer from kidney diseases since it reacts as a natural diuretic. It will cleanse the urinary tract and the bladder canals.  It will remove the toxins from the body and ‘’crash’’ the kidney stones.  Coconut water is good for digestion due to the high level of fibber which it contains. If you drink it regularly it will eliminate the gastric acid. You can drink it in big amounts, since it has low levels of fat. You will lose weight, thanks to water’s ability for keeping you sated and meanwhile it lowers the appetite.

If you have acne, oily or dry skin, all you need to do is to soak a cotton wool in the coconut water and apply it to the skin. It will clean and freshen up the skin, and most importantly, it will keep the pores open. If you mix the water with olive oil, you can cleanse your organism. This mixture can remove bowel parasites.

According to experts, you can solve several health problems during pregnancy with the help of coconut water. Drink one cup of coconut water every morning and you will balance the electrolytes whose misbalance can lead to hypertension, also known as high blood pressure.

If you drink alcohol during the night you will probably have headache in the morning. So, the next time when you exaggerate with alcohol, you will remember this ‘’savior’’ if you want to get rid of the headache. Additionally, it will also compensate for the lost fluids and you will overcome the nausea which is often related with hangover.

If you want your skin to be hydrated and radiant during the entire day, one cup of coconut water will be enough. Also, after several exhausting physical activities, you can drink coconut water and you will regain energy. It will refresh you and leave a positive influence on each body part.

Increase of energy, strong immune system, protection from bacteria and infections, weight loss… What more can you wish for?

PoliticsRivers Orders Amaechi,Ukpo,Others To Refund 100bn Allegedly Looted by MarshRiley(op): 10:42am On Oct 10, 2015
Rivers state government has ordered former governor Rotimi Amaechi, Brigadier Anthony Ukpo rtd. and some appointees of the former governor to refund about N100 billion allegedly missing from the state’s coffers.

This development is contained in a white paper released yesterday by the state government on the recommendations of the commission of inquiry set up by the government to probe the alleged sale of valued assets of the state and related matters by the administration of former governor Amaechi.

Commissioner for Housing, Mr Emma Okah who read out portions of the white paper to newsmen yesterday in Government House, Port Harcourt said the alleged sale and lease of valuable assets of the state by the former government did not follow due process.

“You will agree with me that the Omereji commission had several terms of references and we will be taking them one after the other. The first term of reference is to ascertain the sale of the Omoku 150 megawatts gas turbine; Afam 360 megawatts gas turbine; Trans-Amadi 136 megawatts gas turbine and the Eleme 75 megawatts gas turbine by the administration of former Governor Chibhike Rotimi Amaechi.

“The commission finds as a fact that the sale of 70% equity from the First Independent Power Limited in Omoku gas turbine, Trans-Amadi gas turbine, Afam Phase I gas turbine and Eleme gas turbine, have been very difficult to justify. They have therefore recommended the review of sale of the power assets and the government of Rivers State has accepted that recommendation.

“Refund of proceeds by Chibuike Amaechi, Chamberlain Peterside, and Augustine Nwokocha. In furtherance of this findings that the sale of the four gas turbines was unjustifiable and against the interest of the government and people of Rivers State.

“The commission recommends that the former governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, along with his former commissioners for Finance and Power, Dr. Chamberlain Peterside and Augustine Nwokocha, respectively, should be held to account for their roles in the sales of the power generation assets of First Independent Power Limited and the disbursement of the proceeds there from,” Okah said.

Education200 New Species Of Animals Discovered by MarshRiley(op): 8:27pm On Oct 09, 2015
Scientist say they have discovered a wide range of species in the eastern Himalayas, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) reports that over 200 new species have been found since 2009 till date.

According to the WWF, scientists identified an average of 34 new species annually between 2009 and 2014.

The 211 total species found and named over the last few years include: 133 plants, 39 invertebrates, 26 fish and 10 amphibians, as well as one reptile, bird and mammal.

Some of the most exceptional of the species discovered in the ecologically fragile eastern Himalayas in recent years are: a black and white monkey with an upturned nose that causes it to sneeze when it rains, and a “walking” fish among others.

In an attempt to raise awareness of the threats facing the sensitive region, WWF has compiled a survey of wildlife discovered by scientists across Bhutan, northeast India, Nepal, northern Myanmar and southern Tibet.

The Bompu Litter Frog is known for its wrinkly skin and its distinctive blue eyes.

This tiny freshwater ‘Dracula’ fish was discovered in a UK aquarium after it was caught in the wild before being recognised as an undiscovered species.

Meanwhile, a weird animal was found several days ago. The bizarre animal, reportedly the semblance of a half crocodile, half buffalo.

The beast was found by some astonished villagers in High Rock, Wanghin, Thailand.

Though the creature had scaly grey skin of a crocodile and calf-like hooves, still locals insist that the deformed creature was born of a healthy buffalo but the beast died soon after birth.

PoliticsBREAKING News:madueke Has Cancer,set To Undergo Surgery by MarshRiley(op): 7:36am On Oct 09, 2015
It was publicly disclosed in a statement released on Thursday, October 8, that Nigeria’s former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has cancer.

It should be recalled that the ex-minister who served under Gooodluck Jonathan’s administration was said to have been arrested a week ago in London over bribery allegations and later that day released on bail.

The legal action has purportedly started, with new details emerging every day on the matter. In a fresh development the reports providing personal issues have transpired.

According to The Nation, Diezani’s attorney Oscar M. Onwudiwe yesterday released the statement in which he shockingly denied all the allegations, including arrest and questioning.

“The Madueke family is appalled at the ongoing media frenzy against Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke following an invitation to her by the British authorities last Friday for reasons which have yet to be disclosed.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the family would like to state categorically that it has no issues with any persons from the family being invited anywhere in the world to answer questions about their private or official conduct.

“The Madueke family believes in law and order, honour and due process. It is a deliberate and vicious campaign to demonise members of the Madueke family, with all manner of frivolous allegations.

“It is worth emphasising that Mrs Alison-Madueke was never arrested or detained and her passport was never seized. She was merely invited, and she honoured it promptly.
“The Madueke family, like most other families, have their own challenges. For instance, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has been receiving treatment for cancer in the UK which started while she was in office.

“The health crisis has unfortunately exacerbated in recent times. She completed months of chemotherapy just last week and she is scheduled to undergo surgery next week in London.

“The family has been bearing this challenge with prayers and as much grace and fortitude as possible; and would plead with all reasonable Nigerians to pray for her recovery so that she can face this allegation and give account of her stewardship. Yes, she can—and very well, too.

“The Madueke and Agama families would want the decent public to know that neither Ugonna nor Somze or Abiye or anyone related to the two families was picked up or arrested or invited for questioning by anybody whatsoever. Ugonna’s father (the Rear Admiral) has been in Lagos and working in his office.

“The lies about his having travelled with a team of lawyers should please stop. The Madueke family has taken a decision on how to appropriately deal with those who are on a mission to soil their hard earned family name.”

Based on the update by Sahara Reporters, Alison-Madueke has breast cancer and her husband will soon travel to the UK to support his spouse.

RomanceHow To Know If She Loves You Back by MarshRiley(op): 12:51pm On Sep 28, 2015
Is it in her face?

Oh no, that’s just her charm

In her warm embrace?

Oh no, that’s just her arms…

The song says that love is in her kiss, and those “shoop shoop” girls may be right. However there are other ways of gauging the love your girl has for you.

Physical chemistry is the first thing many look for or identify in a relationship, but this kind of attraction can vanish with a poof if the relationship is not based on other subtle, and not so subtle, qualities as well. Physical chemistry doesn’t always translate as love.

So, does she love you? Here are a few true and tried methods that have proved to be more reliable than the musical standard — or picking the petals off a daisy.

(1). She actively communicates with you

When you are away, she calls just to say hello, wants to know what you’re doing or to share her day’s activities. She wants to tell you about her experiences when you are together after the workday. She is forthcoming and doesn’t try to one-up.

(2). She pays attention to what you like

When she gives you a gift, it is thoughtful and indicative of your personality. Her gifts, regardless of money spent shows she has put thought into it and didn’t just grab something on sale. (Pay attention and do the same when the shoe is on the other foot.)

(3). Your relationship borders on the straight forward to downright frank

She doesn’t bother with mixed signals and you don’t feel like you are hugging a porcupine. Her message is not, “Come closer, now go away,” and her presentation is plain and simple.

(4). She speaks positively of you when you are with her and when you aren‘t

She doesn’t “stab and run,” making little negative comments that name the things about you she would like to see “fixed.” You don’t worry about what she may say to your boss — or your mother.

(5). She makes you a part of the relationship she has with her friends and family

They are familiar with your job and your hobbies because she has talked about you to them. When she talks about the future, you are in the middle of it.

(6). She assumes she is part of your life

When you are involved in a task, she will be too. She is not satisfied to sit back and watch, even if that is all that is left to do.

She may not be into PDA, but she doesn’t balk when you move to hold her hand in public. Sometimes, even if she is not physical, she can tell instinctively what you need to feel love. If she doesn’t know, she asks.

(7). She listens to you

She doesn’t pretend to be focused on you while really planning dinner. You don’t bore her. When she is with you she doesn’t wish she was doing something else. If she hurts your feelings, she is sorry.

(cool. She cares

We are compassionate with people we care for, which allows them the opportunity to make mistakes and grow from them. When you lag behind, she waits for you to catch up.

(9). She tells you

When you tell her that you love her, she says it back, or acknowledges it by saying “Thank you.” It’s you she is really acknowledging.

Many men are different from women in that they want to problem solve. They want to fix the things that are wrong. Women want to analyze the “whys” and “what if’s” so the problem can be categorized with the same end in mind as men have — that of eliminating the problem in the future.

Women want to have their opinion validated. In a different way, so do men. People who love each other often show that love by holding their partner’s feelings and points of view as highly as their own.

And finally, “If you wanna know if she loves you so,” you may want to come out and ask her.

PoliticsBuhari Addresses World Leaders In Newyork(with Pictures) by MarshRiley(op): 8:20am On Sep 28, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has addressed world leaders at the 70th United Nations Assembly in New York.

Buhari has departed Nigeria on September 25, Thursday. The president plans to hold series of meetings and interactions with notable world leaders there.

The president’s talks would mainly be on domestic developmental issues, bilateral relations, the war against insurgency and countering violent extremism.

President Buhari is accompanied by the team of 21 politicians, including the governors of Sokoto, Kaduna and Niger states, the National Security Adviser and the permanent secretaries in the Federal Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Finance, Health, Industry and Trade and Investment.
hat his government will address the problem of capital flight and oil theft which have seriously affected the Nigerian economy.

Nigerian leader similarly restated his commitment to transparency and accountability in the way in which the country’s revenues are managed, noting that aside attempts being made to improve and streamline internally generated revenue in the country, he would also plug all loopholes.
“Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, I welcome you to this important event. Let me express Nigeria’s sincere appreciation to UN-AIDS for the support and collaboration in organizing this event.

2. We are on the threshold of history as world leaders adopt the successor development agenda to the Millennium Development Goals. For over 30 years, HIV as a public health challenge has been causing havoc and untold hardship in virtually every part of the world. To date, several million children have been orphaned and some communities have been devastated, while economic activities have been disrupted.

3. Unfortunately, Sub -Saharan Africa bears a disproportionate burden of this epidemic. The good news is that the effort of the global community has resulted in greater control, less spread and better management.

4. Furthermore, we have made significant progress towards the interception of mother to child transmission of HIV. In 2014 alone, over 3million pregnant women were tested for HIV and 63,000 of these tested women, accessed anti – retroviral therapy. Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

5. What is required in our continued fight against HIV/AIDS is improved health delivery system, education, and cheaper production of anti – retroviral drugs through technology exchange. Our countries should also look at the whole field of medicare and strengthen our partnership with all stakeholders including the civil society, inter- faith and cultural bodies for education and dissemination of information at all levels. Nigeria will also like to call upon all pharmaceutical companies for more cooperation and understanding in reducing the cost of anti – retroviral drugs through production of generic items. Excellencies, Distinguished Delegates.

6. Nigeria will continue to work with development partners and key stakeholders to strengthen the means of implementation of the SDGs as elaborated in the Post- 2015 Development Agenda. At the continental level, Nigeria remains fully committed to the outcome of the Abuja process as evident in the 2002 Declaration, the Action Framework on Roll – Back Malaria. In addition, the 2013 Abuja + 12 Declaration is a strong commitment towards eliminating HIV and AIDs in Africa by 2030. Globally, the United Nations Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS of 2011 is a major reference point for intensifying efforts to eliminate the epidemic.

7. Nigeria appreciates the support of our development partners for their support and commitment to the total eradication of HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria as well as other deadly communicable diseases, for example Ebola, when an epidemic arises.

8. I therefore encourage you to continue in your efforts to sustain the fight against infant and maternal deaths, HIV and AIDs, Tuberculosis, Malaria and other communicable diseases, high on the global development agenda.

9. Let us work together to make HIV and AIDs history by 2030.”

PoliticsSaraki's Trial: Kwara Monarchs Speak Out by MarshRiley(op): 8:11am On Sep 28, 2015
Kwara Monarchs Speak On Saraki's Trial, Allege Persecution
Traditional rulers in Kwara state have condemned the trial of Bukola Saraki, the Senate president before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

According to the monarchs, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari, their chairman and Emir of Ilorin, Saraki’s trial was not the change mantra of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nigerians bargained for.

Speaking yesterday on behalf of the traditional leaders, Sulu-Gambari said was not wise to persecute perceived political enemy.

He said: “We come here to join our son (Bukola Saraki) with whom we are much pleased. We are ready to support him. We are here to see him on the various constitutional challenges, we would not call it problem, may God not make it a problem for us.

“It doesn’t take long for a 10- year old child to realize that our dear son, our precious son is being persecuted. The politics of persecution is not the right change for Nigeria. We want changes, we want it to be clean. He who seeks equity must come with clean hands. If you want equity, you yourself must do equity.”

Sulu- Gambari therefore called on Nigerians to beware of bad elements who are bent on dismantling the country on account of political vendetta.

Details on Leadership.

Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan recently described his appointees during his time in power, as a world class team.

Jonathan made the assertion when he wrote a letter of commendation to the former minister of Agriculture in his cabinet, Akinwunmi Adeshina and the former director general of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh.

Adeshina had just won the race to become the president of the African Development Bank while Oteh had been appointed the Vice President of the World Bank.

1. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: Okonjo-Iweala first stint in Nigeria’s government was under former president Olusegun Obasanjo who appointed her as finance minister in July 2003. Before then, she was the vice-president and corporate secretary of the World Bank. She was later moved to the ministry of foreign affairs but eventually resigned from the position after Obasanjo sacked her as the head of country’s economic team. She was however reappointed as minister of finance by Jonathan with an expanded portfolio that made her the coordinating minister for the economy. Yesterday, September 21, Lazard Limited, a prominent financial advisory and asset management firms that operates from 43 cities across 27 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, North, Central and South America, appointed Okonjo-Iweala as a senior advisor with focus on sovereign advisory. She was also appointed the chair-elect of the board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates.

2. Akinwunmi Adeshina: Ogun state-born Adeshina served as Nigeria’s minister of agriculture before emerging as the president of the African Development Bank in May this year, making him the 8th president of the AFDB and the first Nigerian to occupy the position. Adeshina was no doubt one of the shinning lights of the Jonathan administration as his policies had a major impact of Nigeria’s agricultural sector. Before his appointment by Jonathan, Adeshina had excelled in the international stage as he was the vice president of policy and partnerships for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).

3. Arunma Oteh: Oteh was appointed by late president Umaru Musa Yar’adua as the Director-General of the Securities & Exchange Commission in 2009. But she stayed under the Jonathan government and was stoutly defended by the Jonathan administration when she had issues with Nigeria lawmakers who went on to withhold SEC’s funds just to spite her. But she was rescued by the then presidency as funds were approved for SEC directly from the presidency. She actively contributed to Nigeria’s economic development and helped to transform the Nigerian capital markets by exposing the mismanagement that was inherent in the markets. In July this year, she was appointed vice president and treasurer of the World Bank.

4. Amina Mohammed: Another appointee Jonathan inherited from the Yar’adua’s government, she worked as senior adviser to the president on Millennium Development Goals, before she took up her present appointment where she is the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s special adviser on post-2015 development planning. Very experienced, she has been working in the field of development for more than 30 years both in the public sector and the private sector. She has also served on many international advisory boards and panels such as the Gates Foundation and the UN Secretary General’s Global Sustainability Panel.

5. Muhammad Ali Pate: Pate raised eyebrows in the polity when he resigned as Nigeria’s minister of state for health in July 2013 and resumed as a Professor in Duke University’s Global Health Institute, USA. His action then was surprising as it is not in the character of Nigerian politicians or political appointees to abandon their posts for international assignments. A medical doctor, Pate is an American Board-Certified MD in both internal medicine and infectious diseases, with an MBA (Health Sector Concentration) from Duke University USA. He also serves on the agenda committee of the World Economic Forum and he is a member of the strategic advisory group of experts.
PoliticsNames Of Buhari's 22man Entourage To New York by MarshRiley(op): 9:52am On Sep 25, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria for the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 24, Thursday.

The president was accompanied only by 21 delegates, according to a Sahara Reporters source.

Buhari’s team is far more than small if to compare with the delegations for previous years for the yearly event.

According to the list Nigerian leader will be accompanied by the governors of Kaduna, Niger and Cross River states. Also on his entourage are former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Kayode Fayemi, senator from Katsina, Hadi Sirika and a former member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri, are also in the delegation.

Others on the board to New York comprise General Monguno (Rtd), the National Security Adviser; Femi Adesina, the presidential special adviser; Sarkin Abba Kalu, special adviser household matters; Lawal Kazuare (State Chief of Protocol), Nura Rimi, presidential liaison officer; Lt. Col M. L Abubakar (Aide de Camp); Bashir Abubakar, Chief Security Officer; Sabi’u Yusuf (personal assistant); ACP Abdukarim Dauda, Dr. Suhayb Sanusi Rafindadi, Chief Personal Physician; and Ya’u Abdulahi, Chief Detail.

The immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan in 2013 was accompanied by over 600 people to New York.

However, the presidency scrambled a denial, saying those who traveled officially with the president were less than 30.

For his first visit to the General Assembly as elected president, Buhari reportedly received meeting requests from about 21 world leaders, but he will only be able to meet some of them.

Buhari is expected to return to Nigeria on October 1.
