The purpose of surrendering your free will to God is too get the possible best out of all actions. When you surrender our free will to God, you would stop acting irrationally and start making sensible decisions with Good consequences. Explained, you probably won't get it again, since you ve choosed to be a block head to everything i have said.

You don't have to worship a supreme being before, you are considered having a religion. Religion deals with beliefs mainly, and atheism is a religion because they believe in the non existence of a supreme being.

Every action causes a consequence either long-term or short-term. ... Our life is basically the result of our actions, and in some cases is also composed by the result of the actions of other people. The consequences of our actions create our reality and shape our future, and they are most of them under our control. In other to get the best consequence out of your action, follow his commandment and laws. All the cruel and wicked act in the world are caused by human actions, degrading, deforestation, deadly virus caused by inter course with canine animal, war which causes famine and hunger caused by the human self centeredness . We want to live in an utopia, let follow Gods commandment and rules. Love, work hard and seek knowledge the right way. When we keep making bad decisions, against the commandment of God we should not expect Good out comes.

And during the 2015 time, things were hard, buhari would not have gotten a chance if Good luck Jonathan a graduate, had done his Job properly, Buhari is just a plain opportunist. Educations matters a lot in the governance of a state, in this century. But not in all the position of leadership(You definitely need education to head a family). But still the inability to speak a particular language correctly does not serve as a measure for his intellectual capability, i understand what he is trying to drive at, even without his unstable statementS.
