The police has arrested a 21-year-old man identified as Haruna Musa, who was caught having sex with a mentally ill woman at Angwan Gwari Kwamba in Suleja LGA of Niger State on Tuesday night.

In the video obtained by Daily Trust, Musa was heard saying that he had not yet penetrated before the screams of the woman alerted people.

Musa, who was found with wraps of substances believed to be Indian hemp, blamed his action on drunkenness and a curse from his village. He added that what lured him to her was that she was naked.


He said;

“If not for the security men, maybe I would have had sex with her. I don’t know what came over me. Please forgive me. I am just 21years. I had a lot of things on my mind. My problems are bigger than me. I have nobody to help me.”

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, reportedly met with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over his decision to settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of Jeremiah Emmanuel, who paraded himself as Johnny Depp on a social media application before Justice Darius Khobo of Kaduna State High Court.


Emmanuel and another defendant, Abubakar Kabiru, were prosecuted on one and two counts respectively.


The charge against Emmanuel reads, “That you, Jeremiah Emmanuel (aka Johnny Depp), between May and June 2022 at Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, attempted to commit an offence and in such an attempt did a certain act towards the Commission of the said offence, to wit; falsely presented yourself as Johnny Depp ( a Hollywood celebrity in the United States of America) to one Jitka Krumlovà on ‘Hangout’ ( an online social media application) in order to cheat her and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 57 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law of 2017 and punishable under Section 309 of the same Law”.

One of the counts on which Abubakar was jailed, reads; “That you, Abubakar Kabiru, sometime in July, 2019 at Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did pretend to be Debra Gibson ( a female living in the United States of America) when you knew you were not and in such assumed character cheated one James Edward, an America citizen of the sum of Two Hundred United States Dollars ($200 USD), when you claimed that you were in love with her and to engage her in a romantic relationship and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017 and punishable under Section 309 of the same Law”.

They pleaded guilty to the charges. In view of their pleas, the prosecuting counsel, N. Salele, urged the court to convict the defendants accordingly. Justice Khobo convicted and sentenced Emmanuel to 3 months imprisonment or a fine of N100,000 while Abubakar bagged N100,000 fine on counts one and two or 3 months imprisonment in the event that he fails to pay the fine.

The Independent National Electoral Commission says it is investigating video of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) allegedly buried underground in some locations, including the compound of a high-profile person in Imo state.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye in a statement released on Thursday July 14, appealed to those who found the allegedly buried PVCs to deliver them to the commission’s nearest State or Local Government office.

He vowed that the commission would counter attempts to sabotage the process of getting PVCs to registered voters.

The statement read;

“The Commission is not taking these allegations lightly. We have commenced an immediate investigation and anyone found culpable in this diabolical scheme clearly intended to disenfranchise Nigerians will be sanctioned under the law.

“Every eligible Nigerian who registered as a voter is entitled to his/her PVC. The constitutional right to vote in any election must never be suppressed or abridged in any way.

“This will be their patriotic contribution to the consolidation of our electoral process.

“As far as the record of the Commission is concerned, PVCs have been printed for all valid registrants in Nigeria up to 14th January 2022 and delivered to all the States of the Federation for collection by voters. We will not allow retrogressive elements to sabotage our efforts.”

Okoye assured Nigerians that the matter will be pursued to its logical conclusion, stressing that “the issues of voter registration, a compilation of the voters’ roll and issuance of PVCs are at the heart of any democratic elections and the Commission is working hard to ensure that every eligible citizen who appears in person at the registration venue is registered”.

He also said that the commission had already started reviewing the procedure for collecting PVCs to make it less cumbersome and more transparent.

Okoye added;

“This will be a major topic at the next regular quarterly meeting with stakeholders so that working together we can find a lasting solution to the issue.”

VICE President Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday, distanced himself from a memo purported to have originated from his office to President Muhammadu Buhari, seeking permission to resign his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.


A memo dated June 24, 2022 with reference number SH/VP/605/2./0 and sighted by our correspondent, listed, among others, family pressure, his (Osinbajo) continuous participation in active and partisan politics and membership of the APC as the reasons for his decision.

However, when contacted to confirm the authenticity of the said memo, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande, described it as fake.

He said the language of the author of the memo was not that of Vice President Osinbajo, pointing out that his boss would not write a memo so full of errors.



According to him, “Where do you people even get these things from? Who gave it to you? Anyway, for the avoidance of doubt, the memo is fake. VP didn’t write any such thing.”

Medical student fakes own kidnap to obtain money from parents, woman spikes his drink at nightclub and steals the cash
Police has arrested a 23-year-old medical student of Makindu Medical Training College, Kenya, after he staged his own kidnapping to milk money from his parents.



Directorate of Criminal Investigations-DCI, in a statement on Thursday, July 7, said Edwin Kamau ‘disappeared’ last Sunday before he blocked his father and called his mother claiming to have been kidnapped.



"He told her that his kidnappers wanted a ransom of Sh70,000, to set him free before he hanged up on her," the statement read.



"His distraught parents reported the matter to police officers who immediately launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.



"However, the calls persisted with Kamau telling his mother that his kidnappers were on the verge of eliminating him.



"Determined to secure the life of their son, they sent Sh10,000 yesterday via mobile money and an additional Sh40,000 today.



"Immediately Kamau received the initial Sh10,000, he went to a club in Thika to irrigate his throat and make merry in the company of a babe he had met. And as fate would have it, the woman turned out to be a pishori admin who laced his drink with an unknown substance and stole the cash.



"Today after regaining control of his faculties, he called again and his parents sent a further Sh40,000 which he withdrew and secured in his shoes.



"By this time, detectives had closed in on him. Upon questioning, Kamau said that he had squandered money meant for his last semester’s school fees and was wondering how he would raise money in order to sit for his exams, hence the fake story.



"He further disclosed that he had been ‘kidnapped’ alongside two other students whose parents had paid their ransoms.



"Detectives recovered Sh38,600 from the student who is now in custody at Koyole police station pending arraignment."

Dr. Jeffrey Guterman, a retired mental health counselor has declared his support for Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Aliyu Giwa has warned that adultery is a criminal offense and attracts a punishment of 2 years in prison.

He tweeted: "Do you know? Adultery is a crime liable to 2 years imprisonment! The 'PENAL CODE LAW' section 387 & 388 state: 387. Adultery by a man 388.



"Adultery by a Woman Whoever, being a man/woman subject to any customary law in which extra-marital sexual inter-course is recognised as a criminal offence, has sexual intercourse with a person who is not and whom he knows or has reason to believe is not his wife/husband, such sexual intercourse not amounting to the offence of rape, is guilty of the offence of adultery and shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with a fine or with both."
