Three books that caught the exercises of Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola as Governor of Lagos state will be propelled on Friday May 15, at the Shell Hall of Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos at 10:00am

The first two books were complied and edited by Governor Fashola’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello while the third book was edited jointly by a seasoned writer, Dapo Adeniyi and Hakeem Bello.

A statement issued by Hakeem Bello yesterday said, “the three books being presented serve to set on permanent record some of the achievements of Governor Fashola”.

According to the statement, the first book is a careful selection of some of the speeches delivered by the governor, revealing him as a highly organised, systematic and well-focused man.

Yenagoa—Farmers affected by the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Kolo Creek oil fields spill in Otuasega, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, have gone to court over the April 15, 2015 spill, which dirtied their homestead

According to the farmers, they were excluded from a Joint Investigation Visit to probe the impact of the spill despite their attempt to draw the attention of the team to their impacted farms.

A fish farmer, Mr. Aku Asei, whose three ponds were impacted, said the affected farmers numbering over 50 resolved to take legal action over the incident in the wake of the alleged claim of sabotage by Shell.

“This is a clear case of the powerful and rich oil firm against the weak and poor farmers. They are claiming that the spill was caused by sabotage and abandoned the polluted environment. The regulations which they relied on to absolve themselves clearly stated that the operator of the field where pollution occurs must clean up the site irrespective of the cause but SPDC officials declined to capture the farms as impacted areas.

Awka – CHIEF Chukwuma Bamidele Azikiwe, the first son of first President of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe is dead. He was aged 75.

He passed on at the Borommeo Hospital, Onitsha, a missionary hospital just a stone throw to his Inisi Onira country home, Onitsha in the early hours of Sunday.

A family source said last night that Chukwuma had been battling protracted respiratory ailment for some years, which had kept him out of public glare.

Chukwuma until his death was the Owelle of Onitsha,a traditional position he inherited from his late father in 1996 . As Owelle, Chukwuma was sixth in the title ranking in Onitsha.

He had, in 1991, aspired to govern the old Anambra State and after that unsuccessful bid, he never contested for any other public office.

GOVERNOR Idris Wada may have been proven right over his decision to stop the payment of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) examination fees for indigenous students because of manipulation by some dubious government officials.
