Someone up there said that 95% of africans live below $500, I don't know where he got that statistics from however we can't rule the fact that most africans are poor. I was opportune to interview a mobile phone vendor. I asked why most Nigerians still purchase tecno ,infinix and itel, his response was brand loyalty and availability of spare parts. Then I ask can tecno introduce snapdragon chipset in their phones. He said yes however the buyers are not willing to pay except for few persons hence tecno is comfortable with mediatek since it is cheap. From our survey, I found that few Nigerians are technical incline with phone technology. Aside that, I also found that most guys watch out for phones which handles heavy games.

@bolded, next time use the original sentence instead of adding yours, that aside, what is the purchasing power of an average African excluding north Africa?, let focus on West African alone because that is techno,infinix and itel biggest market. What is the percentage of those that can afford flagship or mid rangers compare to those that can afford budget and entry level phone??. This are the bases I look at before coming into conclusion, even the tecno flagship device(tecno phantom), how many people could afford it. I prefer an entry level and budget phone from other brand than from big brand. in conclusion, this are the reason why tecno, infinix and itel will continue to dominate that position in African for a very long time.

Kind of up and down movement, i.e add a juicy latest feature on a phone, and at the same time kill the mojo with an outdated boring tone, heck they just released a device with 90 hrz refresh coupled with a 720p resolution screen. so poor if I must say.


As for Itel, if I had my way, I would wipe that brand out from existence, and lock it's maker for 600 years. definition of an absolute joke of the melinium, what a waste of plastics, wires, and batteries..spits. disgusting. But like I said earlier, majority of Africans are technically oriented in a poor way, so more cash out.


Apple with 1% had it coming, majority of Africans gives no rat-ass about quality and taste of flagships, Apple on the other hand, gives no rat-ass about venturing into the midrange and budgets phones hemisphere (they should change this mentality if they wanna be more relevant in the African market) majority of Africans using iPhones are lover's of refurbished or foreign used


Xiaomi needs a healthy good and physical contact with consumers (consumer and repair outlets) and they would be dominating the top spot in the nearest future, but Africans needs their yam's in their bans, not much of a physical presence and the story continues.

I first know about xiaomi from Google Search best phone manufacturer list and xiaomi was listed around 5th or 4th that was around 2017 or 2018 i was surprise that how come i haven't hear of them so i Google more about their phone from the first their phone mi 1s and i found out people say their phones is durable and reliable.Since i haven't see and handle it.
i was hoping to use xiaomi some day and know whether they are really what people say they are, around late 2018 or beginning of 2019 my friend got redmi 4 from a some girl that her brother give her.
immediately i saw the phone in his hand recognize it asked him to give me to feel it, guy the phone is solid and everything about it good except for poor camera still i wanted to buy the phone from him that year but lack of money don't allow me until last year I finally get my first xiaomi phone.
whenever people at where i work see the phone they always redmi na baddest phone i forget to say someone at place use redmi 7 and it looks astonishing.

To me Xiaomi Make Name for themselves through their Affordable and durable and reliable phones.
so people hype them because of that even me too do.
My redmi 7a is small but it carry big engine and it handle games well Pes 2021, pubg and ppsspp games, recently after MI 12 update it doesn't handle multitasking very like before.
planning to buy higher xiaomi phone anytime from 3 months to now after i solve my front desk desires.

To Me What i think Xiaomi lacks are two things
Poor camera and little software update bugs
apart from those two Xiaomi is a Good choice.

These two are Chinese Devices. They are both mass produced in Peoples Republic of China. They both have the same build. The both have the same processor. They both have the same camera and screen. Although Transsion UI is slightly better than MiUI. Both interfaces look alike and act similarly. Both use the same packaging.
So why then is Xiaomi selling a so called budget phone for over400k. And the funniest thing is that the phone is very ugly. Nerosky bought one and I'm really pitying the money wasted. Something that could have been used to buy a cha cha infinix and kept more than half of the purchase price.
I will pick transsion for their affordable devices over Xiaomi.

let me tell you a brief history of me with Tech - Started with Tecno N3 or there about, the very first android phone officially sold in Nigeria, then I'm into Symbian phones full time, used much of Sony Ericsson & some Nokia - Hated Blackberry from day one till they died a well deserved death - I own a phone blog, now mainly blog for the passion, not for the money, cos google just dey frustrate us, stop monetizing 3 years ago for this reason.

Brethren, this is my first 120hz refresh rate and i will never ever go back again (this might come as grand breaking innovation on iphone line-up) when is added on iPhone 13 or 14 which will be celebrated. Not knowing it has been on android since 2017. Bro, this refresh rate makes your scrolling so smooth, you would want to eat your phone


Battery & 55 wats (GaN) charger
It will last you a full day on normal or average use, it can even go better if you downgrade to 60hz refresh rate, cos 120hz drain a bit more battery. The charging speed is so fast, You won't notice you even plugged your phone to charge - This makes me wonder how Apple are so selfish, and why iPhone user are so sheepy!! Because this company is so selfish, their charging speed is capped, i used every charger possible on this useless iPhone 11, and the charging speed still remain the same, 2 hours to fully charger in this modern age? God forbid!! "Apple creates problem, then sell the solution to its user" cos they know they'll definitely buy. why I'm saying this? I feel the only charger that can charge iPhone very fast is Apple fast charger "ONLY" i still stand to be corrected.

Design
Personally, the only phone that looks better than this phone in real life is Samsung S21 (the phone wasn't looking all that good to me till i saw it in person, i was like wow!!- and that's that. - T

Camera
The Camera is very good, i feel the only camera better is s21, mi 11 pro and ultra, maybe can be compared with 12 pro max, pixel 5, oneplus 9 or p40

UI and Feels.
Honestly, haven't seen anything more cool on ä phone like this "MIUI Super Wallpaper" When you get the chance to feel it, you'll understand where I'm coming from - The Haptic engine is now upgraded, is now as good as the one on iPhone.

Inconclusion, why is it Xiaomi for me? I bought Poco f1 from China in 2018, phone that has snapdragon 845 for $350+ whilst Samsung with that chipset is around $800 on flagship - That's massive value for money, then Private album, Second space, ir blaster, security etc, I love Samsung but now i love MI more. The company meant it when they said "Innovation for everyone"
